Abstract

Nutrition problems in developing countries, including Indonesia, show an increasing trend, one of which is the problem of stunting. Stunting is a nutritional problem caused by a long-term lack of nutritional intake during the first 1000 days of life, which is a critical period. Resulting in growth disorders in children. The high incidence of stunting is a concern for the government. Some of the causes of stunting itself are a lack of intake that is absorbed by the body from the time it is in the womb until after birth, lack of access to health services, lack of access to clean water and sanitation. Therefore, efforts need to be made to prevent stunting by improving diet and parenting patterns and sanitation. The aim of this community service is to increase mothers' knowledge about the importance of providing balanced nutritional and food intake for their children to prevent stunting. This activity is carried out by providing education with leaflets to mothers of toddlers about Balanced Nutrition. This counseling was carried out at Posyandu Puspa Indah, Nabire Regency. Which was attended by 13 mothers. The results of the counseling showed that mothers of toddlers understood the material provided. It is hoped that further counseling will focus on the growth and development of babies and toddlers.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health issue in Ngawi Regency, where the prevalence reaches 15.3%, indicating the need for targeted early prevention, especially among adolescents who face high risks of anemia and inadequate nutritional intake. This community service program aimed to strengthen the knowledge and readiness of adolescent health cadres through data-driven reproductive health education at the Teaching Factory Laboratory of PSDKU MIK Ngawi. Using a community-based participatory design, the program involved 26 cadres from 13 villages and included health education, digital literacy training, and the use of real adolescent health data. Pre-test and post-test instruments, structured observations, interviews, and digital data tools were used to assess changes in knowledge related to reproductive health, anemia, nutrition, and stunting prevention. The results showed a substantial improvement, with cadres in the good category increasing from 19% to 85% after the intervention. The average knowledge score rose from 62.31 to 83.85, and the Wilcoxon test produced a p-value below 0.001, indicating significant improvement. The biggest increase occurred in understanding the relationship between anemia and stunting, which improved by 42%, followed by better skills in interpreting adolescent health indicators for early detection. These findings demonstrate that integrating real health data with structured educational activities enhances cadres’ comprehension, promotes evidence-based decision making, and strengthens their capacity to identify adolescents at risk. Overall, the program highlights the effectiveness of data-driven health education in supporting long-term stunting prevention efforts at the community level.

Abstract

Exposure to external free radicals—such as pollution, ultraviolet radiation, and smoking-can trigger oxidative stress, which plays a role in the development of various degenerative diseases, including heart disease and cancer. Essential preventive efforts can be made by increasing the consumption of natural foods rich in antioxidants. Pineapple (Ananas comosus), as a local commodity, is known to contain high antioxidant levels that can help neutralize free radicals. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and understanding of residents in Dusun Bangkok Barat, Gurah, Kediri regarding the dangers of free radicals, their health impacts, and the benefits of pineapple as a natural source of antioxidants. The program used a one-group pretest–posttest design involving 32 respondents. Respondents consisted of residents of Bangkok aged 18–55 years who had previously consumed pineapple and were willing to participate by completing the questionnaire. The intervention consisted of a health education session conducted on July 18, 2025. The session was delivered through a lecture and a question-and-answer discussion using PowerPoint presentation slides. Educational pamphlets were distributed to participants, and questionnaires were administered to assess participants knowledge before and after the session. Data analysis showed a significant increase in knowledge across all measured aspect such as knowledge regarding free radicals, antioxidants, pineapple, as well as community perceptions and habits. The average improvement in correct responses between the pre-test and post-test exceeded 40%, with the highest increase (57%) seen in understanding the sources of free radicals. Additionally, respondents’ belief in the benefits of pineapple rose to 97%, and 88% expressed an intention to increase their consumption of antioxidant-rich fruits after attending the session. The program proved effective in improving knowledge, shifting perceptions, and encouraging positive behavioral intentions. These findings highlight the potential of community health education based on local commodities, such as pineapple, as an effective and sustainable preventive strategy.

Abstract

Poor water quality can have a significant impact on public health degrees. TSS (Total Suspended Solid), Nitrate (N) and pH parameters are important indicators in determining water quality. This study aims to analyze the effect of water quality based on TSS, Nitrate and pH values on the degree of public health in Kediri City. This study uses an observational quantitative research design with a cross sectional approach.  The sample of this study amounted to 100 respondents with a cluster random sampling technique  covering 3 sub-districts in Kediri City. The data analysis method uses a linear regression statistical test  that looks at the correlation between TSS, Nitrate and pH values on health degrees based on the water quality of the community in Kediri City. Water samples were taken from several river points in Kediri City and analyzed in the PERSADA laboratory. TSS value data is measured using gravimetric method, Nitrate value data is measured using Spectrophotometric, while pH value is measured using pH meter. The results showed that the average TSS value ± 29.6 mg/L (Quality Standard Value according to SNI 6989.3: 2019 is > 50 mg/L), average Nitrate (N) value is 1.24 mg/L (Quality Standard Value according to SNI 6989.79-2011. is 1.6 mg/L) and average pH value ± 7.39 (Quality Standard Value according to SNI 6989.11-2019 is 6-9).   For the average value of health degrees based on the water quality of the people of Kediri city, the average ± 30.3 (Max. score of 40). From the results of statistical analysis using linear regression The effect of TSS, Nitrate and pH values on health based on the water quality of the Kediri city community, data were obtained on TSS p value = 0.02, Nitrate p value = 0.876 and pH p value = 0.655 (sig. ≤ 0.05). So it can be concluded that the TSS value has a significant effect on the health status of the people of Kediri city. Meanwhile, the value of Nitrate and pH of water has no effect on the health degree of the people of Kediri city. The results of the study show that the values of TSS, Nitrate and pH of water in the city of Kediri still meet the set Quality Standards.  The TSS value has an effect on the public health of the city of Kediri. However, the value of Nitrate and pH of water does not affect the health degree of the community in the city of Kediri.  High TSS values, high nitrate values and unstable pH correlate with increased cases of water quality-related diseases, such as diarrhea and skin diseases.

Abstract

The demanding daily routines of women of productive age often lead to the neglect of physical and mental health. This sedentary lifestyle is exacerbated by a lack of time and limited digital health literacy, despite high smartphone ownership. This community service initiative aimed to transform sedentary behavior into a digitally active lifestyle by enhancing health digital literacy through a Design Thinking approach. An intensive one-day Edu-Tech Workshop was conducted for 25 women in the Blabak Health Center area, Kediri. The program utilized an abridged version of the Design Thinking framework—Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test—focusing on the practical application of m-health tools like Google Fit and Riliv. Evaluation was performed using pre-post tests, digital skills indicators, and a 7-day remote monitoring period via WhatsApp. Initial screening revealed that 68% of participants had low digital health literacy. Post-intervention data showed a dramatic surge in health application literacy, with average scores jumping from 35.2 to 92.0. All participants (100%) successfully configured health-monitoring ecosystems on their devices. Sustainability tracking indicated that 76% of participants actively reported achieving their daily step targets, and 60% consistently utilized digital breathing exercises to manage work-related stress. The one-day intensive workshop model effectively overcomes the "double burden" time constraints faced by modern women. By demystifying technology and integrating m-health into daily routines, this approach successfully fosters a sustainable transition toward independent health management.

Abstract

Hypertension and diabetes mellitus are major non-communicable diseases that continue to increase and contribute significantly to morbidity and mortality, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. In the working area of Nguter Primary Health Center, the achievement of standard health services for hypertension and diabetes mellitus has not yet met the Minimum Service Standards. This community engagement activity aimed to improve early detection, community knowledge, and medication adherence through innovative programs, namely the “SEGER WARAS” community visit program (blood pressure and blood glucose screening for healthy citizens) and the “PINTAR” calendar (intensive blood pressure monitoring and routine blood glucose management). The methods included problem identification using health center performance data and interviews, priority setting using the Urgency, Seriousness, and Growth (USG) method, and implementation of screening, education, and community assistance activities. The results showed increased community participation in screening activities, identification of new hypertension and diabetes cases, improved knowledge regarding disease management, and better adherence to routine medication. These programs demonstrate potential as sustainable community-based strategies to strengthen non-communicable disease control at the primary health care level.

Abstract

Herbal MSMEs play a vital role in supporting the public health economy, but they still face challenges in managing their businesses, particularly in financial recording and operational cost efficiency, due to low digital literacy in optimally utilizing technology. This community service activity focuses on digital-based health economic management mentoring, aimed at improving skills in digitalized financial recording. Mentoring was conducted on three MSMEs in Kediri City out of fifteen that have been operating for the past five years. The pretest-posttest method, comparing the percentage values before and after mentoring through questionnaires, interviews, and observations, concluded that there was an increase in digital financial literacy, business cost control, and data-based economic decision-making. This mentoring has an impact on increasing the operational cost efficiency of herbal MSMEs without compromising product quality and is an effective strategy in strengthening the independence and sustainability of herbal MSMEs.
