Abstract

The aim of the study is to analyze the conceptual understanding and self regulated learning in mathematics between students who got the e-learning model web centric course and learning with the power point, and to find out the appropriate e-learning design in learning math for elementary school. The subject of this study is all of the 5th grade students of Islamic Elementary School (MI) private in Jakarta, while the sample is two classes of the population. The instruments used in this study are essay, questionnaire, and observation sheet. The results showed that 1) the conceptual understanding of mathematics students who get e-learning model web centric course better than students who get the learning using power point, 2) self regulated learning of students who get e-learning model web centric course better than students who get the learning using power point, 3) e- learning design that fits in the learning of mathematics in primary schools is an e-learning design, incorporating text, images and animations as well as providing convenience for group discussion. Based on these results it can be concluded that the e-learning web-centric model of course affect the conceptual understanding of mathematics and self regulated learning elementary school students.

Abstract

This study is descriptive research that aims to describe student’s creative thinking skills in mathematics learning with fraction topic using open-ended approach. Subject of this study is 31 students of VII-D grade of SMP Negeri 2 Inderalaya Selatan (Junior High School). The data were obtained by means of observation, test, and interviews. Written test is used in order to know level of student’s creative thinking. There is five level of student’s creative thinking skill it was very creative, creative, creative enough, less creative, not creative. The result of the research showed that from 31 students, 3% student was very creative, 48% students was creative, 29% students was creative enough, 10% students was less creative, and 10% students was not creative. It could be concluded that students of VII-D grade of SMP Negeri 2 Inderalaya Selatan was creative enough.

Abstract

This research begins with the formation of preparatory classes towards OSN Mathematics at Manggarai-NTT Regency level. This is based on the evaluation of the implementation of the Math Olympiad at the elementary level held by the Mathematics Education Department STKIP Santu Paulus. This study aims to improve students’ higher order thinking skills by using Think, Talk, and Write (TTW) strategy in introductory olympiad class. It was action research conducted at Manggarai District with six students taken from different schools selected based on their mathematics achievement. Data were obtained through observation and test. The data analysis and interpretation show that the implementation of Think, Talk, and Write (TTW) strategy can improve students' higher order thinking skills. This can be seen from the increase in the average value of test results in each cycle that is Pre cycle 51.3; cycle I 62.2; and cycle II 71 followed by improvement of learning mastery with presentation of value of each cycle that is pre-cycle 0%; cycle I 50%; and cycle II 83,3%. In particular, one of the students became the first winner in OSK Matematika at Manggarai District level.

Abstract

This research was aimed at doing preliminary analysis in developing students’s worksheet based on problem solving. It uses Plomp’s model, consists of three phases. The first phase is analysis; need analysis, students analysis, curriculum analysis, concepts’ analysis and the existing teaching material’s analysis. It was found in the preliminary research that students’ worksheet that involve students’ critical thinking in the learning process is the teacher’s treatment to stimulate students’ skill in problem solving. Students’ work sheet problem based learning is the alternative to help the students to gain the students’ skill in problem solving.

Abstract

This study was intended to produce a learner worksheet (LKPD) with valid and practical based open-ended problems and to determine the potential effects on students' learning outcomes in rectangular materials in grade VII. This research was development research. The subjects of this research were students of class VII.5 junior high school no 18 Palembang Indonesia as many as 30 students. Data collection techniques used in this study were a walkthrough, documentation, interviews, and open-ended test questions. The result of data analysis could be concluded that: (1) this research produced LKPD based open-ended problems invalid and practical rectangular material. (2) LKPD that had been developed had a potential effect on the learning outcomes of learners. Therefore LKPD that had been developed can be used by the students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of a mathematical problem- solving ability of college student who takes learning by using interactive quiz method, students who take learning by using the conventional learning model conducted by researchers at the third-semester college students University State of Islamic Studies Raden Intan Lampung. This research is a quantitative type of experimentation with Quasi-Experimental Design. Hypothesis test using T-test and got a conclusion that interactive quiz method better than conventional learning model. Based on the results of analysis and discussion of research data obtained that there is the influence on learning achievement between students whose class apply the method of interactive quizzes, students in class apply the conventional learning model on the subject of Trigonometry.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine difficulties of learning and the factors that cause difficulties experienced by the algebraic structure to motovated student in learning process. Subject of research undertaken is the third semester students in the academic year 2015/2016. Data collection method used is documentation, test, observation and interview. The reason of student difficulties in learning algebraic structure that is on the problem-solving, concepts and skills. Most problems experienced by students is the troubleshooting sections with a percentage of 62.5%. Another difficulty experienced by students of the difficulty in concept with a percentage of 50%. The difficulties experienced by the last one is trouble on the skills students with a percentage of 45.7%.
