Abstract

The objective of this research is to improve the learning activity and activeness in the Gasoline Fuel Sistem Maintenance Practice subject matter of the students in Grade XI of Light Vehicle Engineering Department of State Vocational High School 1 of Sawit, Boyolali. This research used the classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases, namely: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The process of each cycle was reflected, and the result of the reflection was used as a plan for the next action plan. This research studied the on-going learning process. It used the mixed method of two learning models, namely: discussion learning model and problem-solving learning model. The subjects of research were the students as many as 31 in Grade XI. The data of research were collected through observation sheet. They were validated with the content validity of Expert Judgment and analyzed by using the descriptive comparative technique of analysis. The result of research shows that Prior to the treatment, the students? learning activeness is 57.9%. Following the treatment, it becomes 74% in Cycle I and 86% in Cycle II respectively, meaning that the learning activeness improves as much as 16.1% from Pre-cycle to Cycle I and 12% from Cycle I to Cycle II. In addition, prior to the treatment, the students? learning creativity is 38.5%. Following the treatment, it becomes 58.7% in Cycle I and 74% in Cycle II, signifying that the learning creativity improves as much as 282% from Pre-cycle to Cycle I and 15.3% from Cycle I to Cycle II. Thus, the mixed method of the two learning model can improve the students? learning activity and activeness in the   Gasoline Fuel Sistem Maintenance Practice subject matter of the students in Grade XI of Light Vehicle Engineering Department of State Vocational High School 1 of Sawit, Boyolali.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to acquire knowledge about effectiveness of application of Quality Management System of ISO 9001:2008 on the process of students? learning in SMK Pancasila of 2011/2012 Academic Year.The research is an evaluative research by using evaluative model of CIPP approach. Strategy of the research is descriptive by using qualitative and quantitative data.Conclusion of the research is: context represents strengths and weaknesses of ISO 9001:2008 QMS application in SMK Pancasila of Surakarta. Result of input analysis indicated that background of educators, students, learning sources, and environment of SMK Pancasila of Surakarta is suitable with indicators of learning process success. Result of process analysis showed the suitability between indicators of learning process suitability and indicators of learning success. Result of product analysis indicated that percentage of graduation decreased 0.45%, namely from 100% to 99.55%. Average NA of 2011/2012 academic year in Indonesia language, English, and mathematics subjects decreased, whereas it was increased in competence subject. Greater enrollment of the 2011/2012 than that of previous academic year and possible different difficulty level of National Final Exam might affect the decreased percentage of graduation and the decreased average NA.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the fuel consumption and exhaust emission of Motorcycle Honda Supra X 125 assembled in 2007 with the use of intake manifold with base material ofpineapple leaf composites. This research used the experimental method. Its sample was Motorcycle Honda Supra X 125 assembled in 2007 with Machine Number: JB51E1951246. The sample of research was taken by using the purposive sampling technique. The data of research were gathered through experimental method. The fuel consumption was measured in a static condition with measuring cup. The testing was done by measuring the time required by the machine to spend fuel in a certain volume at the low, medium, and high machine revolutions. The measurement of exhaust emission of carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbon (HC) used the gas analyzer of Type 898 OTC STARGAS Global Diagnostic, which was conducted according to SNI 09-7118.3-2005 regarding Procedure for Testing Motor Vehicle with L category in idle condition. The data of research were analyzed by using the descriptive comparative technique of analysis. The results of research show that the average fuel consumption in the use of standard intake manifold at the machine revolutions of 1.200 rpm, 2.500 rpm, and 4.000 rpm is 0.088256 ml/second. Meanwhile the average fuel consumption in the use of intake manifold with pineapple leaf fiber composites at the machine revolutions of 1.200 rpm, 2.500 rpm, and 4.000 rpm is 0.072183 ml/second. Thus, the average fuel consumption in the use of intake manifold with pineapple leaf fiber composites decreases up to 20.7%. In addition, the average exhaust emission of CO in the use of standard intake manifold is 1.838%. Meanwhile, the average exhaust emission of CO in the use of intake manifold with pineapple leaf fiber composites is 1.127%. Accordingly, the average exhaust emission of CO in the use of intake manifold with pineapple leaf fiber composites decreases up to 38.7%. Furthermore, the average exhaust emission of HC in the use of standard intake manifold is 1.178 ppm. Meanwhile, the average exhaust emission of HC in the use of intake manifold with pineapple leaf fiber composites is 1.141 ppm. Therefore, the average exhaust emission of HC in the use of intake manifold with pineapple leaf fiber composites decreases up to 3.1%.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are: (1) Analyze the effect of bentonite mixture variation at green sand molds to gray cast iron microstructure result of casting. (2) Analyze the effect of bentonite mixture variation at green sand molds to gray cast iron hardeness result of casting.(3) Analyze the effect of bentonite mixture variation at green sand molds to gray cast iron tensile strength result of casting.The research has donein the laboratory of Politeknik Manufaktur Ceper. This research does casting by using gray cast iron material. Techniques of data analysis in this research using descriptive data analysis that is directly observed experimental results are then analyzed and summing up the results of the research. As an input parameter in analyzing the data include: microstructure assaying, hardness and tensile strength.Based on result of inferential research that specimen microstructure at this research is casting result gray cast iron having metric of strong and firm pearlite. Flakegraphiteat specimen I (Bentonite 3%) harsher compared to specimen II (Bentonite 5%). Ferritein thespecimensImorethanferriteinspecimenII. Specimen I has pearlite structures which rather rugged, while specimen II has smooth pearlite. The hardness of gray cast iron owned by specimen II 66,5 HRA higher compared to hardness of gray cast iron owned by specimen I that is 55,8 HRA. Tensile strength at specimen II is 278,68 N/mm2 higher compared to specimen tensile strength I that is 222,92 N/mm2.

Abstract

The  objective  of  this  research  is  to  investigate  the  optimal  casting  temperature  to produce  the  best  molding  on  the  hardness  and  microstructure  of  the  aluminum  remelting product of Supra X motorcycle drum brake with metal mould.This  research  used  three  casting  temperature  variations,  namely:  7000C,  7250C,  and 7500C. The aluminum material  used in this molding was used back drum brake aluminum of Supra X motorcycle.This  research  used  the  experimental  method  with  the  descriptive  data  analysis.  The data of the research were gathered through the calculation of the hardness of each specimen and the microstructure photograph-taking of each specimen. The result of the calculation of the hardness was then displayed in graphs for analysis.The  result  of  the  research  shows  that  the  highest  molding  hardness  is  found  in  the casting  temperature  variation  of  7000C  with  the  value  of  86.17  BHN,  whereas  the  lowest molding  hardness  is  found  in  the  casting  temperature  variation  of  7500C  with  the  value  of 83.03  BHN,  and  the  hardness  of  the  drum  brake  aluminum  of  Supra  X  aluminum  itself  is 90.36BHN. Based on the microstructure photograph, the casting temperature variation of 7000C  results  in  the  best  structure  granules  as  indicated  by  the  tiny  size  of  Al-si  granules, compared  to  the  results  of  the  other  casting  temperature  variations  of  7250C,  and  7500C respectively of which the size of granules become larger along with the increase of the casting temperature variations. Thus,  based  on  the  result  of  the  research,  a  conclusion  is  drawn  that  the  casting temperature variation of 7000C results in the most optimal hardness and good microstructure, and among the tree casting temperature variations the casting temperature variation of 7000C results  in  casting  temperature  of  which  the  quality  of  the  aluminum  remelting  product approaches the quality of back aluminum drum brake of Supra X motorcycle. The hardness of the aluminum remelting product decreases along with the increase of the casting temperature variations, and the size of microstructure of the granules also becomes larger along with the increase of the casting temperature variations.

Abstract

            The objectives of this research are to investigate: (1) the effect of volume fraction variations on the fire resistance of the glass fiber composite with the matrix of Ripoxy R-802 EX; and (2) glass fiber volume fraction with the highest fire resistance ofthe glass fiber composite with the matrix of Ripoxy R-802 EX. This research used the experimental research method. It was conducted at the Engineering Material Laboratory, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Engineering, SebelasMaret University, Surakarta. The instrument used to investigate the fire resistance of the composites was fire resistance testing device of ASTM D-635. The specimenof the research was glass fiber composite with the matrix of Ripoxy R-802 EX with the glass fiber fraction compositions of 15%, 25%, 35%, and 45% respectively. The fire resistance testing of the composite was done according to the standard of ASTM D-635. The indicators of the fire resistance were determined based on the time of burning (TOB) and the rate of burning (ROB). The data of the research were analyzed by using the comparative descriptive technique of analysis.The results of the research are as follows. 1) The more the content of the glass fiber content was, the time of burning was increasing but the rate of burning was decreasing. This indicates that the larger the glass fiber content is, the fire resistance of the composites is increasing, that is, increasing the value of the TOB but decreasing that of the ROB. 2) In accordance with the standard of ASTM D-635 for the fire resistance testing with the method of the horizontal burning test, the use of the glass fiber with the content of 45% in the composite made this composite possess the highest burning resistance.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk memperoleh pengetahuan mengenai  penerapan Sistem Manajemen Mutu ISO 9001:2008 untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru Program Teknik Kendaraan Ringan di SMK Negeri 1 Trucuk.Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis deskriptif. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah Pemahaman guru SMK Negeri 1 Trucuk terhadap hakikat SMM ISO 9001:2008 secara umum sudah cukup baik akan tetapi masih ada yang memahami secara parsial. SMK Negeri 1 Trucuk melalui Wakil Manajemen Mutu telah melakukan langkah sosialisasi yang tepat untuk menanamkan kefahaman guru terhadap penerapan SMM ISO 9001:2008. SMK Negeri 1 Trucuk telah menerapkan seluruh klausul ISO yang dipersyaratkan kedalam proses bisnis sekolah dan dapat dibuktikan melalui dokumen-dokumen dan rekaman kegiatan mutu. SMM ISO 9001:2008 memiliki peran yang signifikan didalam peningkatan kompetensi guru. Kompetensi Guru SMK N 1 Trucuk yang diwakili oleh dua orang sampel guru menunjukkan nilai PKG sebesar 94,4 dan 91,6 yang artinya termasuk sebutan amat baik berdasarkan tabel konversi nilai kinerja hasil PK Guru. Kendala yang muncul didalam penerapan SMM ISO 9001:2008 antara lain: ketidaksesuaian antara bidang keahlian lulusan dengan tugas mengajar di TKR, sulitnya menumbuhkan kesadaran pribadi guru untuk menjalankan SMM ISO 9001 : 2008, Karena ISO 9001:2008 merupakan merk dagang maka membutuhkan biaya yang cukup besar untuk menerapkannya. Sebagian guru yang tidak merespon dan bersikap acuh terhadap penerapan SMM ISO 9001 : 2008, dan sebagian guru senior (usia tua) yang kurang aktif dalam upaya peningkatan kompetensi dan mutu mengajarnya.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are : (1) To find out chemical composition and micro structure before and after welding using MIG method with PWHT on cast wheel aluminium. (2) To determines the hardness number, and the strength impact before and after welding using MIG method with PWHT on cast wheel aluminium. The research was conducted in INLASTEK laboratory Surakarta. The cast wheel aluminium of Honda Ferio was used to be sample on this research. The equipment that used for the chemical composition experiment, micro structure experiment, the hardness number experiment, and the strength impact experiment in succession are : Spectrometer Metal Scan, Olympus Metallurgycal Mocroscope, Brinell Hardness tester and Charpy tester. Based on the research results, can be conclude : (1) Chemical composition of Cast wheel alumunium was one of alluminium alloy Al-Si, due to Si is the main composition alloy that is 4, 61%. Based on micro structure of base material, Si were spread well around the surface of Al compared with the results after welding process with PWHT. (2) The hardness number on raw material is 42, 693 kgf/mm2, after PWHT treatment the hardness number on welding area becomes 29,062 kgf/mm2, HAZ area has hardness number are 23,487 kgf/mm2. The strength impact number on welding result using MIG with PWHT are 0,0717 joule/mm2 and on the raw material are 0,0924 joule/mm2. The experiments result indicate that, PWHT can switch over the micro structure, influent to the hardness number and strength impact on cast wheel aluminium. Specimen hardness and strength impack value of raw material is higher than MIG welding whit PWHT specimen.

Abstract

  Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk tujuan: mengetahui komposisi kimia paduan aluminium, struktur mikro, tingkat kekerasan dan kekuatan impak sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan pengelasan dengan metode pengelasan MIG pada cast wheel aluminium menggunakan elektroda ER 5356. Material yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah cast wheel aluminium dengan spesifikasi, jenis E35 dimensi 16x7, PCD 4x120. Alat yang digunakan dalam uji komposisi kimia, uji struktur mikro, uji kekerasan dan uji impak secara berturut-turut adalah Spectrometer Metal Scan, Olympus Metallurgycal Microscope, Brinell Hardness Tester dan Charpy Tester. Hasil uji komposisi kimia menunjukkan bahwa cast wheel aluminium mengandung unsur Al 91,36%, Si 7,38% dan Fe 0,803% serta Cu dan Mg sekitar 0,05%. Dari hasil uji struktur mikro menunjukkan bahwa struktur butiran Al pada daerah HAZ menyatu dengan aluminium primer (?-Al) dan butiran Si membentuk paduan Si primer diantara ?-Al. Hasil uji kekerasan pada spesimen pada raw material 57,56 kgf/mm², pada daerah las 44,20 kgf/mm² dan daerah HAZ 37,73 kgf/mm². Hasil uji impak pada raw material 0,118 Joule/mm² sedangkan daerah las adalah 0,067 Joule/mm².

Abstract

The purpose of research are (1) to find out the teacher?s mastery level of 2013 curriculum, (2) to find out the learning set completeness the teacher had, (3) to find out the constraints the teacher faced in implementing the 2013 curriculum, (4) to find out the alternative solution to the constraints emerging. The data of research derived from the result of Interview, Observation, and Documentation. The data sources of research were: Teachers and Vice Headmaster of Curriculum Division of SMKN 2 Karanganyar. The constraints the teachers faced in implementing the 2013 curriculum were (a) the implementation of the 2013 curriculum was done too suddenly with limited socialization making the teachers find difficulty. (b) The incomplete infrastructure, particularly work instrument for workshop practice, made the teacher incapable of transferring the science smoothly. (c) Teacher found difficulty in growing the students? creativity to learn independently and to innovate bravely. (d) Teacher found difficulty in finding the handbook as a teaching material. (e) Syllabus was still organized by the teachers themselves, because no syllabus is available from Education Youth and Sport Office. From the result of research, it could be concluded that the teachers in Electronic Automotive Skill Package of SMKN 2 Karanganyar had not been ready to implement the 2013 curriculum because of the teachers? less mastery on the content of 2013 curriculum, making some teachers not having learning set completely. In addition, it was also because the teachers? less capability of being creative in the attempt of developing a more innovative learning.
