Abstract

The research carried out is a laboratory experimental research withmake particle board from coconut coir, with variations in the composition of fibers and powders used are 100 % - 0%, 90 % - 10 %, 80 % - 20 %, and 70 % - 30 % using urea formaldehyde adhesive in order to determine the mechanical properties, and find a good composition of coconut coir particle board. Sampling was carried out at the Forestry Laboratory of the Muhammadiyah University of West Sumatra. The tests were carried out at the Civil Polytechnic Laboratory of Unand, and at the Agricultural Product Technology Laboratory of Unand. The independent variables in this study were thickness and composition variation. The dependent variable is density, flexural strength or MOR. Control variables are temperature, adhesive content, particleboard thickness, compression pressure, and drying time. Data were taken by repeated measurements of 5 samples. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it was found that the use of coconut coir powder particles as an outer coating for particleboard at different percentages has an influence on the mechanical properties of the particle board. From the results of the study, it was found that particleboard with a composition between fiber and coconut coir powder (90% - 10%) was the best result because the less powder used resulted in good mechanical properties with a density of 0.52 g/cm3 and flexural strength or MOR 159, 43 Kg/cm2.

Abstract

Biochemistry is a branch of biosciences which deals with the study of chemical reactions that occur in living cells and organisms. It is a subject in which biological phenomenon is analyzed in terms of chemical reactions or metabolic pathways. Biochemistry has been previously named as biological chemistry, chemical biology, clinical chemistry, chemical pathology, physiological chemistry, including medical biochemistry and clinical biochemistry. Medical biochemistry studies the chemical composition and physiological reactions in the human body. Clinical biochemistry is the measurement of chemicals or analytes in body fluids for the diagnosis, monitoring and management of patients with various diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, etc. An increase in the number and availability of laboratory diagnostics has helped in the solution of clinical problems. Particularly important is the contribution of clinical chemistry to the diagnosis and monitoring of diabetes. The importance of lipids and lipoproteins for public health has increased with clinical studies showing the benefit of lipid lowering in cardiovascular diseases. An understanding of clinical chemistry and biochemistry would be useful in the study of medical and allied sciences for the advancement of knowledge in academic and professional courses. This review article is an attempt to understand the scope and significance of basic and applied aspects of biochemistry

Abstract

This study investigated multiple representation formats and mathematical reasoning to unravel physics concepts and laws in problem-solving. Four hundred and sixty (460) students from forty-six (46) co-educational schools in Kwara State- Nigeria, participated in the study. Using a random sampling technique 230 males and 230 females were selected. The two instruments used are Physics Multiple Representational Test and the Physics Mathematical Reasoning Test. Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. Results of the analyses through frequency count, percentages, and t-test revealed a low mean value for mathematical reasoning and the representational format of students. The male recorded a higher mean value in multiple representation formats and mathematical reasoning than their female counterparts. It concluded that students' mathematical reasoning and multiple representational formats in problem-solving were low, and the female students were the most affected when it comes to low performance. The study recommended a curriculum review to accommodate an introductory course on multiple representations. Also, an innovative program that enhances mathematical reasoning and promotes the relationship between mathematics and physics is in the curriculum. Extracurricular activities that could stimulate female interests in representational format and mathematical reasoning, should be introduced in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the use of project-based learning models to improve students' conceptual understanding of elasticity and Hooke's law at SMA Negeri 1 Syamtalira Bayu. This research is a research quasi-experimental design. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling. The samples in this study were students of class XI IPA 4 as the control class with 27 students and class XI IPA 3 as the experimental class with 27 students. The results of the research data analysis showed that the N-Gain normalized obtained an average value of increasing understanding of the concepts of practical class students, namely 0.46 in the medium category, while the control class was 0.30 in the low sort. The test analysis results of the independent sample test for the experimental class and control class are 0.03 0.05. It can conclude that using learning models, project-based learning can improve students' understanding of concepts on elasticity and Hooke's law at SMA Negeri 1 Syamtalira Bayu.

Abstract

Problem-solving in the Quantum Physics course which requires a very mathematical description and analysis is considered difficult by students, especially if the learning is done online. This study aims to find out the difficulties of learning Quantum Physics courses through online learning for physics education students in class 2018 FKIP USK. The subjects in this study were students of physics education class 2018 who took the Quantum Physics course, totaling 49 people. The research approach used is descriptive quantitative. Data collection was carried out using a closed questionnaire based on the google form. The results showed that students had learning difficulties using online learning in the Quantum Physics course from internal factors, namely cognitive indicators with a total score of 841 while external factors, namely community environmental indicators, with a total score of 457. Conclusions Based on the difficulties experienced by students in this study, it can be seen that students have some difficulties in studying Quantum Physics material online.
