Abstract

Anemia is a common blood disorder marked by reduced red blood cells, which can cause health problems since hemoglobin in these cells carries oxygen throughout the body. This study aimed to examine the relationship between adolescent girls’ knowledge and attitudes toward iron supplementation and their adherence to consuming iron tablets (TTD) among female students at SMA Adabiah 2 Padang. Conducted on June 12, 2025, the research used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of adolescent girls at the school, with 78 respondents selected through stratified random sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods with computerized processing. Results showed that 84.6% of students complied with iron tablet consumption, while 15.4% did not. Statistical analysis revealed no significant relationship between knowledge and compliance (p-value 0.059 > 0.05). Similarly, attitudes showed no significant correlation with compliance (p-value 0.154 > 0.05), although most students with positive attitudes were compliant. In conclusion, knowledge and attitudes were not directly related to adherence. The study emphasizes the need for students to improve their understanding of the importance of iron supplementation to prevent anemia, safeguard health, support learning, and prepare for their future roles as mothers.

Abstract

Obesity is a significant health issue in the workplace and increases the risk of non-communicable diseases. In the mining sector, factors such as long working hours, shift patterns, stress, and limited access to healthy food contribute to this condition. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the Fat Loss Challenge Program implemented at PT Putra Perkasa Abadi (PPA) Site MLP in reducing workers’ Body Mass Index (BMI). Using a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design, 38 obese workers participated in a three-month intervention consisting of controlled healthy meals, daily physical activity, and regular monitoring. Paired t-test analysis showed a significant reduction in BMI (mean pre-test = 92.81; post-test = 88.08; p < 0.05). These results indicate that the program had a positive impact on participants’ BMI reduction. The success of the intervention was supported by integrated promotive, preventive, and curative strategies, including health education, initial screening, nutritional regulation, and habitual physical activity. The program is recommended as a model for occupational health interventions to reduce obesity in the mining industry.

Abstract

Hypertension is a degenerative disease with a high mortality rate that reduces quality of life and productivity, especially among the elderly, where attitude plays an important role in self-management. This study aimed to examine the relationship between elderly attitudes and self-management at the Tigo Baleh Bukittinggi Community Health Center using a quantitative cross-sectional design with purposive sampling of 169 respondents. Data were collected through an attitude questionnaire and the Hypertension Self-Management Behavior Questionnaire (HSMBQ). Results showed that 100 respondents (59.4%) had a fair attitude, while 84 respondents (49.7%) demonstrated good self-management. Statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.00 (p < 0.05) and correlation coefficient r = 0.502, indicating a significant moderate relationship between attitude and self-management. The conclusion is that better self-management among hypertensive elderly is associated with more positive attitudes. It is expected that the Tigo Baleh Health Center can use these findings to improve the daily attitudes and practices of elderly patients with hypertension.

Abstract

Based on 2023 city health office data, the Padang Pasir Community Health Center recorded the lowest achievement of complete basic immunizations at 40.5% (291 infants), far below the 100% target. This study aimed to describe maternal compliance in providing complete basic immunizations to children aged 12–18 months in the Padang Pasir Health Center work area in 2025. The research was descriptive, conducted from May 23 to June 05, 2025, with 65 respondents selected using stratified sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate methods. Results showed that most respondents were under 35 years old (69.2%), worked as housewives (90.8%), and had a high school education (61.5%). More than half of mothers (60.0%) were compliant in providing complete basic immunizations to their children. The findings highlight the need for mothers to pay closer attention to their children’s immunization status and consistently bring them to health services. Community health centers are encouraged to strengthen collaboration with cadres to improve immunization coverage. Importantly, children under 18 months can still catch up on missed basic immunizations, emphasizing the importance of timely action to ensure optimal child health outcomes

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease that remains a public health problem in Indonesia, including in the Air Dingin Community Health Center (Puskesmas Air Dingin) area. According to data from the Padang City Health Office, of the 24 existing community health centers, Air Dingin Puskesmas recorded the highest number of DHF cases, with 38% of cases. Initial survey results indicate that 7 out of 10 residents still lack understanding of disease prevention efforts, necessitating increased public knowledge and awareness regarding DHF prevention. This type of research is quantitative with a cross- sectional design, conducted on July 17–28, 2025. The study population was heads of families or family members domiciled in the Air Dingin Community Health Center Working Area. Samples were taken using the proportional stratified random sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using univariate and bivariate methods. The results of the study showed good knowledge (37.4%), good attitudes (88.9%), and good prevention efforts (62.6%). A p-value of 0.000 < 0.05 indicates a significant relationship between family knowledge and attitudes and dengue fever prevention efforts. It is hoped that the Community Health Center will strengthen community outreach and empowerment so that awareness and participation in eradicating mosquito nests will increase.

Abstract

Sexual violence against children is a serious violation of human rights that impacts their physical, psychological, social, and developmental well-being. Elementary school children are particularly vulnerable due to limited knowledge and lack of courage to report incidents. This study aimed to describe children’s perceptions of sexual violence and its prevention at SDN 03 Lubuk Begalung, Padang City, in 2025. The research used a descriptive design with a population of all grade IV, V, and VI students, totaling 83 children, selected through total sampling. Conducted from August 4–6, 2025, the study employed a validated and reliable questionnaire, with data analyzed univariately and presented in frequency distributions and percentages. Results showed that 57.8% of students had poor perceptions of sexual violence, while 51.8% demonstrated inadequate prevention attitudes. The conclusion indicates that most students still lack proper understanding and preventive attitudes regarding sexual violence. These findings highlight the urgent need for continuous education from schools and parents to equip children with knowledge and skills to protect themselves from sexual violence at an early age. Strengthening awareness programs and involving families in prevention efforts are essential to ensure children’s safety and resilience against such threats.
