Abstract

This research is aimed to obtain error description by students on math midterm at SMP Bala Keselamatan Balamoa based on Newman. This research is descriptive research which used qualitative approach. The data was collected using documentation and interview. The result shows that: (1) the kind of numerical pattern material is a mistake in comprehension error (comprehension error), transformation error (transformation error), process skill error (process skill error), and encoding error (encoding error). (2) kind of errors in kartesius coordinate is comprehension error (comprehension error), transformation error (transformation error), and encoding error (encoding error). (3) error in relation and function material is comprehension error (comprehension error), transformation error (transformation error), and encoding error (encoding error).

Abstract

This study aims to profile the critical thinking of students with high, medium and low mathematical abilities in solving PISA questionst about change and relationship content in class VIII MTsN 2 Palu. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were students of class VIII MTsN 2 Palu who had high, medium and low mathematical abilities. The results showed that: 1) critical thinking of students who have high mathematical abilities in solving PISA questions with change and relationship content, namely planning and conducting experiments with good investigations, being open-minded and paying attention to other alternatives to solving problems, define terms in a way that is appropriate to the context, draw conclusions from solving problems orally and writing, establish interactions with other people to obtain information that is not understood and evaluate the results of their work. 2) Critical thinking students with medium mathematical abilities in solving PISA questions with change and relationship content, namely developing and maintaining actions in solving problems by using formulas, being open-minded and paying attention to other alternatives for solving problems, drawing conclusions from solving problems verbally properly, and evaluating the results of their work. 3) Critical thinking of students with low mathematical abilities in solving PISA questions with change and relationship content, namely developing and maintaining actions in solving problems using formulas and evaluating the results of their work.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' critical thinking skills in solving SPLDV story problems for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 4 Banawa with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles. This type of research is qualitative research. The subjects of this study were 3 students of class VIII B in the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year consisting of 1 student each with visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles. Data collection techniques used are the provision of tests and interviews. Based on the processed data, it was found that visual learning style subjects were subjects who were able to master the FRISCO indicators (focus, reason, inference, situation, clarity, and overview). Auditory learning style subjects only mastered 4 indicators, namely reason, situation, clarity, and overview. The kinesthetic learning style subject masters 5 indicators namely reason, inference, situation, clarity, and overview

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain a description of the completion profile of number questions for grade IX students of SMP Negeri 20 Palu. This type of research is qualitative research. The subjects in this study were class IXA students at SMP Negeri 20 Palu, which consisted of one student with high mathematical ability, one student with moderate mathematical ability and one student with low mathematical ability. Data was collected by giving assignments and interviews. The results of this study indicate that solving problems for students with high mathematical abilities: (1) can use the correct steps. (2) can use exponential properties in solving questions number 1, 2 and 3 correctly. Then solving the questions for students with moderate mathematical abilities: (1) still wrong in solving problem number 1, students do not know the correct nature of the form of dividing numbers with rank. (2) in questions number 2 and 3 the student was right in solving the problem, but the student only finished up to a simple rank. . As well as students with low mathematical abilities: (1) in question number 1 students do not use the properties in the exponential form. (2) in questions number 2 and 3 students are still wrong in solving because students do not know the properties of exponential number forms.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of learning modelsProblem Based Learning (PBL) the can improve the learning outcomes of class VIII E students of SMP Negeri 13 Palu on the material of straight line equations. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) and its design uses the Kemmis and Mc. Taggart, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were all students of class VIII E SMP Negeri 13 Palu with a total of 30 students and three students were selected as informants. The results showed that through the application of learning modelsProblem Based Learning (PBL) can improve student learning outcomes by following the model phasesProblem Based Learning as follows: (1) students' orientation to problems, (2) organizing students to learn, (3) assisting individual and group investigations, (4) developing and presenting work, and (5) analyzing and evaluating the problem-solving process. Based on the data on learning outcomes in cycle I, it can be seen that the mastery of classical learning reached 30% and in cycle II it was 76.6%. Furthermore, the results of observations in cycle I on teacher activity obtained a score of 30, which was included in the good category and the results of observations of student activities obtained a score of 26, which was included in the less category based on the intervals previously made. Then the results of observations in cycle II on teacher activity obtained a score of 38 which was included in the very good category and the results of student activities obtained a score of 35 which was included in the good category based on the intervals previously made.

Abstract

The main objective of this study was to obtain a description of the application of the student teams achievement divisions type cooperative learning model to improve student learning outcomes on the Surface Area of Cubes and Beams. This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which refers to the research design of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart, namely (1) planning; (2) implementation of actions and observations; and (3) reflection.. Application of the STAD type cooperative learning model that can improve the learning outcomes of class VIII MTs sheikh Lokiya Towale students on the Cube and Beam Surface Area material following the STAD type cooperative learning steps, namely: 1) Conveying learning objectives and motivating students;2) Presenting/delivering material; 3) Organizing students into cooperative groups; 4) Guiding work and study groups; 5) Evaluation; and 6) Awarding. The subjects of this study were class VIII MTs student Sheikh Lokiya Towale who totaled 14 students and three students were selected as informants. This research was carried out in two cycles. The results showed that in the final test of cycle I there were 6 students who were completed and 7 students who were not completed with the percentage of classical completion reaching 46.15% while in cycle II there were 9 students who were complete and 3 students who were not completed with the percentage of classical completion reaching 75%. The results of the observation of teacher and student activities in cycle II in participating in learning are in the very good category. Based on the results of the research obtained, it can be concluded that the application of the STAD type cooperative learning model to improve the learning outcomes of Class VIII MTs students Sheikh Lokiya Towale on the surface area material of cubes and blocks.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how the composition function in problem-solving profiles of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Sigi in terms of extrovert and introvert personality types. This research is qualitative. The subjects of this study were 2 students of class X MIPA 3 at SMA Negeri 1 Sigi. Subjects were taken using the Myers-Briggs-Type Indicator personality test. The data validity technique used in this study is time triangulation. Data analysis technique with steps 1) data condensation, 2) data presentation and 3) concluding. The results showed that both extrovert and introvert subjects were capable of formulating solutions. using logical reasoning. The indicators of applying the introverted subject's strategy can explain clearly each step taken in solving the problem. Introvert subjects are more thorough and careful than extrovert subjects in solving problems. This is shown by the imprecise calculations carried out by the extrovert subject. In the indicators explaining the results of the completion, introvert  subjects can conclude by proving the correctness of the results obtained, while extrovert subjects cannot write them down correctly.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the conceptual understanding of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 18 Palu in solving problems in social arithmetic material in terms of gender. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The subject of this study consisted of one male student with high mathematical ability (LT) and one female student with high mathematical ability (PT). The results of this study indicate an understanding of the concept of male students (LT), namely being able to classify social arithmetic. Apply the concept logically and explain using your own language, namely explaining the reasons why using the concept of loss and percentage of loss due to solving problems. Give examples and non-examples of social arithmetic. Presenting a social arithmetic problem in various forms of mathematical representation, namely presenting known data, writing down what is known. As well as consistent use in solving problems and answering according to the steps. Understanding the concept of female students (PT) is able to classify social social arithmetic. Apply the concept logically and explain using your own language, namely explaining the reasons for using the loss concept because you were asked about the percentage of loss and could not solve the problem because you did not know how to find the percentage of loss. Give examples and non-examples of social arithmetic. Presenting a social arithmetic problem in various forms of mathematical representation, namely presenting known data, writing down what is known and what is asked. However, I can't solve the problem because I don't know how to find the loss percentage.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of the analysis of conceptual understanding in solving SPLTV problems for students with high, medium, and low mathematical abilities in class X SMA Negeri 9 Palu. In this qualitative research, to obtain data regarding students' conceptual understanding in solving SPLTV problems, test instruments and in-depth interviews were used. The results of the study show that: (1) Subjects have high mathematical abilities and are in good control of understanding concepts because they can restate the concepts contained in SPLTV, based on their existing knowledge so they can solve SPLTV problems, but for subjects with low abilities they have not fully understood restating the concept contained in SPLTV so that it has not been able to solve the problem; (2) Subjects have high mathematical abilities and are in good control of conceptual understanding because they can present the concept of algebraic forms into their mathematical models/algebraic equations, based on the knowledge they already have. However, low-ability subjects have not been able to do so; (3) subjects who have high abilities and are in control of indicators use, utilize, and choose certain procedures and operations that are good because they can use the right SPLTV solving method in accordance with the procedure and can take advantage of algebraic operations, but subjects with low abilities have not been able to do it ( 4) Subjects with high and moderate abilities can apply the concepts contained in SPLTV to solve problems based on the knowledge they already have, but subjects with low abilities have not been able to apply the concepts contained in SPLTV to solve problems.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of the application of the problem based learning model using a peer tutor approach to improve student learning outcomes for SMK Negeri 2 Palu on the matrix material. The subjects of this study were students of SMK Negeri 2 Palu, totaling 34 students and six students were selected to serve as tutors and three students were selected as informants and formed 6 heterogeneous study groups. The results showed that there was an increase in student learning outcomes on matrix material in SMK Negeri 2 Palu by following the problem based learning steps, namely : 1) Student orientation to the problem, 2) Organize students for learning, 3) Guide individual/group experience, 4) Developing and presenting the work, 5) Analyze and evaluate the problem solving process. Improved student learning outcomes have met indicators of the success of research actions in cycle 1 and cycle 2, obtained from the final tests of the actions of cycle 1 and cycle 2 as well as interviews with informans. In addition, the data on the observation of teacher activities in processing learning and student activities in participating in learning which can be seen from the observation results sheet increased to be very good. Based pn the data from the study, it can be concluded that the application of a problem based learning model can improve the learning outcomes of SMK Negeri 2 Palu students on matrix material.
