Abstract

Teachers are required to be able to carry out self-development sustainably through Sustainable Professional Development (PKB) activities. One of the PKB activities is to conduct research, especially Action Research (PTK). In doing PTK is very much determined by the ability to carry out innovative learning. The results of interviews with the Head of Teacher Working Group (KKS) of Gugus 3 Palu Utara obtained information that there are still many teachers in the Gugus 3 Palu Utara District experiencing problems in implementing Student Center-based Learning (SCL) models that match the expectations of Kurikulum 13 (K13). This community service was intended to provide training to teachers of SD Gugus 3 Palu Utara in the application of innovative SCL-based learning models that are in accordance with the K13 paradigm in order to improve pedagogical abilities in the context of sustainable professional development. During the implementation of the training activities, the teachers of SD Gugus 3 Palu Utara showed high enthusiasm in participating in this training activity and many of them asked questions about things they did not clearly understand. This indicated that the implementation of the training received positive responses from the teachers of SD Gugus 3 Palu Utara. From the results of the distribution of service instruments, it was found that the average percentage of participants who answered correctly was 88%, it meant that the training participants' mastery of innovative learning was very good.

Abstract

Mathematical connection ability needs to be analyzed so that teachers can get an overview of students' mathematical connection abilities and develop learning strategies to improve students' mathematical connection abilities. This study explores the mathematical connection abilities of class XI MAN 2 Kota Palu students in solving HOTS arithmetic sequence problems. The type of research is qualitative and uses student interview results as data. The results of this research show that mathematical connections high-ability students demonstrate strong connections between arithmetic series and algebra, exponents, and roots, and apply these concepts in real-life and economic contexts. Moderately skilled students link arithmetic sequences to algebra but struggle with economic connections. Low-ability students face challenges linking mathematical concepts, applying arithmetic series to daily life, and connecting it with economics. Understanding these abilities helps teachers tailor strategies to enhance students' mathematical connections, aiding their problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This study is a research that uses a quantitative approach that aims to describe learning motivation of the 8th grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Ampana City in learning mathematics. The data in this study were collected using a questionnaire sheet with a total of 22 items and measured using a Likert scale, namely (1) strongly disagree, (2) disagree, (3) undecided, (4) strongly agree, (5) strongly disagree, as well as observational data in the form of pictures. The research subjects consisted of 60 grade VIII students drawn from 2 different classes. The results of this study indicate that students' learning motivation in learning mathematics in class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Ampana Kota has an average of 3.0 and is included in the high category, with the indicator of being diligent in facing the task of getting an average of 3.0 in the high category, the tenacious indicator faces difficulty getting an average of 3.1 in the high category, the indicator showing interest in various problems gets an average of 2.8 in the sufficient category, the indicator prefers to work independently gets an average of 2.9 in the sufficient category, the indicator of getting bored quickly on routine tasks gets an average of 3.2 in the high category, and the indicator can defend opinions rationally gets an average of 2.8 in the moderate category.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the problem solving of fractional. This type of research is descriptive using a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were grade VII students of SMP Negeri Model Terpadu Madani Palu consisting of 3 students who were divided into 1 student with high mathematical abilities, 1 student with moderate mathematics ability, and 1 student with low mathematical abilities selected based on processing the final semester exam scores in odd semester 2021/2022. The results showed that students whit high math skills were able to solve problems well based on Polya’s problem solving steps, starting from the stage of understanding the problem, to the stage of re-examining the answers. Students who are mathematically capable are doing mathematical problem solving well at the stage of understanding the problem, the stage of making plans, but at the stage of implementing the plan students are wrong in changing the fraction division operation into the form of fraction multiplication operations, moderately capable subjects do not change the position of the numerator into the denominator and the denominator into the numerator which is the settlement area, the stage of re-checking the students answers only checks again by looking at the results of the answers. Students whit low math abilities have not done problem solving well, that is, they can only rewrite existing information without understanding the existing information, unable to make plans because they feel confused in thinking about plans that must be used to solve problems, cannot carry out problem solving plans. And can’t recheck the answer. This is because students cannot solve the given problem.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of the mathematical understanding abilities of class X students of SMAN 1 Sindue Tobata on trigonometry based on learning styles.  This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach.  The subjects of this study were three students of class X MIPA 1 who had visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles.  Data were collected through written assignments and interviews.  Based on the indicators of students' mathematical understanding ability, the research results obtained were (1) subjects with a visual learning style type were able to restate the trigonometry concepts they had learned, were not able to present trigonometry concepts in various forms of mathematical representations and were not able to use, utilize, and choose procedures or trigonometry calculation operations in completing tasks correctly.  (2) subjects with the type of auditory learning style can restate the trigonometry concepts that have been learned, have not been able to present trigonometry concepts in various forms of mathematical representations, and can’t determine the trigonometry ratio formula correctly.  (3) subjects with a type of kinesthetic learning style, namely being able to restate the trigonometry concepts that have been learned, not being able to present trigonometry concepts in various forms of mathematical representations, not being able to use, utilize, and choose procedures or arithmetical trigonometry operations correctly.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of the surface area and volume problem solving profiles of class IX B students at SMP Negeri 1 Lore Tengah. This study uses a qualitative method with a qualitative descriptive approach. The research subjects were 3 students, namely students who had high, medium and low mathematical abilities based on the problem solving steps proposed by Polya. The research results obtained show that: (1) Students who have high mathematical abilities use all stages of Polya in solving problems of surface area and volume of cylinders. (2) Students who have moderate mathematical abilities have not been able to use all of Polya's stages in solving the problem of surface area and volume of cylinders, the stage in question is found in the re-examining stage. However, the subject gave his opinion by explaining using his own language why not re- examine the results of solving the problem given. (3) Students who have low mathematical abilities have not been able to go through all the stages of Polya in solving problems, the subject is only able to go through the stages of understanding the problem but the subject needs to read repeatedly and pay attention to the information contained in the problem repeatedly.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' critical thinking skills in solving SPLDV story problems for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 4 Banawa with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles. This type of research is qualitative research. The subjects of this study were 3 students of class VIII B in the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year consisting of 1 student each with visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles. Data collection techniques used are the provision of tests and interviews. Based on the processed data, it was found that visual learning style subjects were subjects who were able to master the FRISCO indicators (focus, reason, inference, situation, clarity, and overview). Auditory learning style subjects only mastered 4 indicators, namely reason, situation, clarity, and overview. The kinesthetic learning style subject masters 5 indicators namely reason, inference, situation, clarity, and overview

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of the analysis of conceptual understanding in solving SPLTV problems for students with high, medium, and low mathematical abilities in class X SMA Negeri 9 Palu. In this qualitative research, to obtain data regarding students' conceptual understanding in solving SPLTV problems, test instruments and in-depth interviews were used. The results of the study show that: (1) Subjects have high mathematical abilities and are in good control of understanding concepts because they can restate the concepts contained in SPLTV, based on their existing knowledge so they can solve SPLTV problems, but for subjects with low abilities they have not fully understood restating the concept contained in SPLTV so that it has not been able to solve the problem; (2) Subjects have high mathematical abilities and are in good control of conceptual understanding because they can present the concept of algebraic forms into their mathematical models/algebraic equations, based on the knowledge they already have. However, low-ability subjects have not been able to do so; (3) subjects who have high abilities and are in control of indicators use, utilize, and choose certain procedures and operations that are good because they can use the right SPLTV solving method in accordance with the procedure and can take advantage of algebraic operations, but subjects with low abilities have not been able to do it ( 4) Subjects with high and moderate abilities can apply the concepts contained in SPLTV to solve problems based on the knowledge they already have, but subjects with low abilities have not been able to apply the concepts contained in SPLTV to solve problems.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of the mathematical connection ability of students of class XI IPA SMA Negeri 2 Kasimbar on optimization material. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were students of class XI IPA SMA Negeri 2 Kasimbar with high, medium and low math abilities. Date were collected through written tests and interviews. The results of this study indicate that subjects with high mathematical abilities HD can use the relationship between mathematical concepts on the problem to be solved, can use the relationship between concepts and procedures and arithmetic operations in solving problems outside of mathematics and can apply mathematical concepts to other fields of study. Subjects with medium mathematical abilities MU can use the relationship between mathematical concepts on the problem to be solved, can use the relationship between concepts and procedures and arithmetic operations in solving problems outside of mathematics and can apply mathematical concepts to other fields of study. Subject with low math abilities RY can apply mathematical concepts to other fields of study.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a description of student errors in the results of the mathematics final exams for the 2022/2023 school year based on the Newman Procedure. This type of research is qualitative. The research subjects used in this study were 29 students of class IX B MTs Hi Hayyun Salumpaga. The results of this study are in the form of descriptions of student errors and the causes of errors made by class IX B MTs Hi Hayyun Salumpaga. Based on the research results, it has been found that the most dominant errors are process errors with a percentage of 77%, transformation errors with a percentage of 82%, errors in understanding the problem with a percentage of 75%, and errors in writing the final answer with a percentage of 72%. The mistakes made in (1) the error in understanding the problem is where students do not write down what is known and what is asked, (2) transformation errors that occur, namely students misunderstand the meaning or concept to be used, (3) the process error made was not being able to carry out the process correctly and not being thorough, (4) errors in writing the final answer, namely the student made a mistake in writing the final answer and got an incorrect answer.
