Abstract

Customer retention is a crucial factor in ensuring business sustainability, especially for MSMEs in the culinary sector that face intense competition. This study evaluates various factors that contribute to enhancing customer retention at Pingpong Bites, an MSME based in Malang. The approach employed includes a systematic literature review (SLR) and semi-structured interviews with business owners and customers. The findings reveal that service quality, product quality, pricing and promotional strategies, as well as customer satisfaction, play vital roles in building loyalty. Additionally, product innovation and the ability to adapt to market trends are also essential aspects of maintaining customer engagement. These findings offer guidance for MSMEs in designing more effective strategies to increase customer loyalty and support sustainable business growth.

Abstract

Social media, particularly Instagram, has become a primary means of voicing various social and humanitarian issues, including the conflict in Palestine. This study aims to analyze the influence of Instagram use on public perception of the Palestinian refugee issue. A quantitative approach was used, using a survey method with 35 respondents aged 18–35 who actively use Instagram and are exposed to content related to the Palestinian issue. Data were analyzed using validity, reliability, and normality tests, simple linear regression, and other classical assumption tests such as heteroscedasticity, multicollinearity, autocorrelation, t-tests, and F-tests. The results indicate a significant relationship between Instagram use and the formation of public perception of the Palestinian refugee issue (r = 0.623; p < 0.05). The regression model proved significant both simultaneously (F = 20.924; p < 0.05) and partially (t = 4.574; p < 0.05). These findings reinforce the role of visual social media in shaping public opinion and increasing empathy and public participation in global humanitarian issues.

Abstract

Participatory village development is key to achieving equitable and sustainable community welfare. This study aims to identify the role of village government in increasing community participation in village development and analyze the factors influencing it. The research method used is normative legal research, often referred to as doctrinal research. Normative legal research is a type of legal research that examines norms or rules in applicable laws and regulations. The primary focus of this method is the analysis of positive legal norms, including their content, systematics, and principles. The results indicate that community participation is influenced by various factors, including education level, leadership quality of the village head, transparency in fund management, local cultural values, previous participatory experience, and available communication media. Village government plays a strategic role in creating an environment conducive to participation through inclusive village deliberations, transparency of public information, and strengthening community capacity. This research confirms that collaboration between village governments and communities is the primary foundation for the success of democratic, locally-focused village development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategic role of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of North Sumatra in improving community welfare through public policies. The DPRD's legislative, budgeting, and supervisory functions contribute to the creation of policies that support social and economic development. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive analysis method, utilizing primary data from interviews with policymakers and secondary data from relevant official documents. The findings reveal that the DPRD actively formulates inclusive public policies, such as budget allocations for education, healthcare, and infrastructure sectors. However, challenges such as limited institutional capacity and political influences may hinder policy effectiveness. Therefore, enhancing the quality of DPRD human resources, ensuring transparency, and increasing public participation in the legislative process are necessary to achieve more targeted policies. This research is expected to serve as a reference to strengthen the DPRD’s role in developing public policies oriented towards community welfare.

Abstract

Kamisan Action is a social movement that highlights symbolic resistance against government injustice and impunity. In West Java, this activity emerged as an alternative platform for the public to express political criticism using non-violent symbols such as black clothing, dark umbrellas, and standing still. This study investigates how Thursday Actions in several cities in West Java particularly Bandung function as a symbolic strategy to preserve collective memory of human rights violations and negotiate an increasingly restricted public space. Using a qualitative approach relying on observation and discourse analysis, the research reveals that this silent resistance is able to create new political meanings, strengthen solidarity between victims and advocates, and challenge state narratives that often normalize injustice. Thus, the Thursday Action in West Java not only functions as a memory ritual, but also as a symbolic resistance practice that continuously encourages accountability and social justice. Human rights violations that began since the change of the Old Order to the New Order became the spark for an action to reveal the truth. Starting from the 1965 incident, the mysterious shooting incident of 1982-1985, the enforced disappearances of 1997-1998, the May 1998 tragedy, the Semanggi I tragedy (November 13, 1998), the Semanggi II tragedy (September 24, 1999), the Trisakti tragedy (May 12, 1998), the Munir murder case (September 7, 2004), and many other tragedies are examples of human rights violations whose resolution is still unclear.
