Abstract

SMP Negeri 10 Banjarmasin has seen a growing demand for the implementation of the Adiwiyata program, which is aimed at achieving environmental preservation through harmony, beauty, and comfort. Educators faced a challenge in raising students' awareness about environmental care, but a research study was conducted to address this through eco-brick activities. The study involved a closed questionnaire and the average score calculation resulted in 51.58, indicating that waste management through the Eco-brick program has a positive impact on reducing, reusing, and recycling attitudes among students. The results clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of the Eco-brick program in increasing students' awareness and understanding of the importance of maintaining environmental sustainability. It is evident that the Adiwiyata program is crucial for the future of our planet, and initiatives like eco-brick activities can certainly contribute to achieving this goal.

Abstract

Coal mining activities can cause environmental damage and high levels of water pollution. The research aims to determine the effect of coal mining on Kintap River water pollution in Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan Province. The research sample was Kintap River water which was taken in 3 samples based on depth per point at four observation points (1 near the coal mine pond effluent, and 2, 3, 4 each 100 m downstream) and analyzed at the Banjarbaru Environmental Service laboratory based on five quality standard parameters for coal mining waste, namely pH, TSS, Fe, Mn, BOD and COD from the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Number 5 of 2022. Storet's calculation analysis is based on the Decree of the Minister of Environment No. 115 of 2003. The results show that the parameters that do not meet the quality standards are the pH and TSS parameters. The results of the Storet analysis obtained a value of -10 for the pH parameter and -8 for the TSS parameter, which means that pollution of the Kintap River water by coal mining is included in category B, which is lightly polluted.

Abstract

Before the introduction of oil palm plantations, traditionally, the community had developed skills in making purun woven materials whose raw materials came from the wetland environment around where they lived. After the introduction of plantations, the source of raw materials for purun weaving was reduced. This research aims to discover how purun woven can be preserved and the factors that cause the reduction in purun woven production in Barito Kuala Regency. The sustainability of purun woven-making activities not only contributes to the turning of the wheels of the rural economy but also contributes to social science studies. The research was conducted using qualitative methods. The research locations are villages that are centers for making purun weaving in Kuripan District, Barito Kuala Regency, which have been converted into oil palm plantations. Interviews were conducted with purun woven craftsmen, community leaders, and village heads. There were 20 informants. Observations were made of the purun garden and purun weaving activities. The document study was sourced from data from the Central Statistics Agency for Barito Kuala Regency and Kuripan In Figures District and audiovisual recordings related to purun weaving activities. An ethical perspective was used to analyze the data to obtain an overview of the activity of making purun weaving from the researcher's perspective. The results of the research show that people in Barito Kuala Regency can maintain the existence of purun weaving by maintaining purun gardens even though their area is limited, buying purun from other areas, passing down the method of making purun weaving to the younger generation, and innovating purun products. The factors causing the reduction in purun woven production are the reduction in the area of purun plantations due to the conversion of land to oil palm plantations, the difficulty of raw materials, reduced market demand, and unstable selling prices. From the research results, it can be concluded that making purun woven in Barito Kuala Regency can maintain the sustainability of the physical and social environment. This research implies that the tradition of purun weaving can be preserved, and the surrounding environment can be preserved.

Abstract

Between 1967 and 1971, East Kalimantan witnessed a rapid increase in timber exploitation, commonly known as the "timber boom." This period of extensive deforestation was driven by Foreign Investment Law No. 1 of 1967, which attracted foreign investors through tax incentives and investment guarantees. The law enabled large-scale logging concessions, resulting in significant economic growth and triggering a massive wave of migration. Thousands of workers, primarily from Java and Sulawesi, relocated to East Kalimantan in search of employment in the logging industry and related sectors. This influx of migrants, along with the government's transmigration program, reshaped the region’s demographic and social landscape, intensifying competition for land and resources. This study employs historical methods to analyze the socio-economic and environmental consequences of the timber boom. It draws on primary and secondary sources, including government reports, logging concession data, archival records, and interpretations of the broader implications of forest exploitation. The findings indicate that while the timber boom generated short-term economic gains, it also led to widespread deforestation, biodiversity loss, and the disruption of traditional livelihoods. The absence of sustainable forest management practices resulted in long-term environmental degradation, leaving a lasting impact on the region's ecosystem.

Abstract

One of the compulsory courses for prospective teachers in the Teacher Education Program is the Field Experience Program. In the implementation of this Field Experience Program, students are accompanied by Field Supervisors and Mentor Teachers. Field Supervisors and Mentor Teachers are positioned as mentors for prospective teacher students as mentees. It is suspected that Field Supervisors and Mentor Teachers have not carried out their functions as mentors properly. This study aims to identify nine mentor roles in mentoring prospective teacher students, so that it can be analyzed which mentor roles are effective and which mentor roles need to be improved so that in the future the mentoring of prospective teacher Field Experience Programs will be better for producing professional prospective teachers. The findings show that the dominant mentor role of the mentor is the role as a resource person, co-learner, supporter and role as a counselor. There is a difference in the dominant role between field supervisors and mentor teachers, namely that field supervisors are dominant in the role as counselors and co-learner while mentor teachers stand out in the role of role models and supporters. The future outlook for the role of mentors in field experience program assistance still revolves around the nine mentor roles, with an emphasis on improving roles that are still weak.
