Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of the study was to find out the land suitability classes in Lintong Nihuta regency ofHumbang Hasundutan for coffee (Coffea arabica). 5 SPT (set of land) is determined by pursuant tomap of land, ground type, map of inclination of slope and map of place height yielded fromtopography map with the scale 1 : 50000, is later conducted by overlay. Assessment of landsuitability pursuant to staff criterion center the research of land of Bogor year 1983 with the limitmethod of pursuant to Djaenuddin et al. 2003. The result of analysis showed the unity of all thesample has appropriate class of land potential at SPT (set of land) 1, 2, and 4 is N (rc), class ofland potential at SPT (set of land) 3 and 5 is S3(wa,rc).

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe objective of this research is to improve the chemical properties of peat soil for increasing riceproductivity. The research using factorial randomized block design with 2 factors and 3 replications,consist of a) sea water, and b) mineral materials (zeolite and volcanic material). Mineral materials(M) consist of without mineral materials (M0), 2% zeolite mineral soil samples (200 gram/pot)(M1), volcanic material as much as 10% (1000 gram/pot) (M2), and mixture of zeolite minerals andvolcanic material (M3). Sea water like without sea water (0%) (A0), 25%v/v consentration of seawater (A25), 50% v/v consentration of sea water (A50), and 75%v/v consentration of sea water (A75).The results showed that the application of mineral zeolite and volcanic material significantlyincreased soil pH concentration, P- available, bulk density, dry weight of the canopy and root dryweight. Sea wate significantly decreased pH, cation exchange capacity, shoot and root dry weight,increasing electrical conductivity, base saturation but increasing P- available not significantly onempty grain and weight of 1000 grains.Keywords : sea water, zeolite, volcanic material, peat soil, and paddy

Abstract

ABSRACTShallot is one of the superior spice plants.Nowday, cultivation of shallot is directed for using inputfrom organic matter. Coffea peel compost and liquid organic fertilizer are potential nutrient sourceto use in organic cultivation of shallot. The growth and production of shallot by giving coffee barkcompost and liquid organic fertilizer. This research was proposed to find out effect of growth andproductions respons of shallot as coffee bark compost and liquid organic fertilizer. The researchstarted from october to december 2011. The design use randomized block design factorial with 2aspect. The first aspect is compost bark coffee consist of four stages those were K0 ( 0 g/plant ), K1( 30 g/plant ), K2 ( 60 g/plant ), ( 90 g/plant ). The second factor is liquid organic fertilizer consistfour stages those are P0 ( 0 ml/l water ), P1 ( 3 ml/l water ), P2 ( 6 ml/ l water ), P3 ( 9 ml/l water ).Coffee bark compost given ferform real effect to number of leave per clumb 6 MST, diameter ofbulk and production per plot but not gave any influenced to high of plant, leaves number per sample2 – 5 MST, number bulbs per sample, wet weight per sample and dry weight per sample. Liquidorganic fertilizer given ferform real effect to high of plant per sample 3 – 6 MST, leaves number persample 5 and 6 MST, diameter of bulk per sample and production per plot, but not gave anyinfluenced to high plant 2 MST, leave number per clump 2 – 4 MST, number bulbs per sample, wetweight per sample and dry weight of bulb per sample. The intraction between both aspectinfluenced on diameter of bulb.Key words : coffee bark compost, liquit organic fertilizer, shallot, growth and productions

Abstract

ABSTRACTMass rearing of Corcyra cephalonica Stainton (Lepidoptera : Pyralidae) in Several Media. Thestored pest C. cephalonica is one of alternative host Trichogramma spp. This research was to studyto find the best feed for mass rearing C. cephalonica as an alternative host Trichogramma spp. Thisresearch was carried out at Central Research and Development of Sugarcane Crop Sei SemayangPTPN II Medan since July-September 2012. The method of used Randomized Complete Designwhich consists 22 treatments and two replication. The results showed that the combination of ricebran and mill maize is the best treatment. The day early that the adult emerge fastest in media ricebran and mill maize with comparison 1:2 is 32.5 days after application and the lowest in mediamaize bran and chicken feed with comparison 1:1, 1:2, 2:1 is 48 days after aplication.The highest number of imago in media rice bran and mill maize with comparison 1:2 is338.5 adults and the lowest in media mill maize and chicken feed is 68.5 adults. Abstract

ABSTRACTThe effect of Vegetative Growth on some Varieties of Black Soybeans with The Provision ofVermicompost on Acid Soils.Insufficient Black soybeans productiondomestic demand is a problemthat faced today. The addition of organic matter and using acid soils is one way that can be done toincrease the production of black soybean.The objective of the research was to know the effect ofvegetativegrowth on some varieties of black soybeans (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) with the provisionof vermicompost on acid soils. The experiment was conducted in the Public Land, Pasar I, TanjungSari, Medan, with altitude ± 25 meters above sea level from July to October 2012.Using a factorialrandomized block design with the first factor application of vermicompost (0, 0.8, 1.6 and 2.4kg/m²) and the second varieties (Detam-1, Detam-2, Cikuray, Merapi, Malikka) with threereplications. The result showed that the application of vermicompost insignificanly affected to all ofparametric in the research. The variety significantly affected the plant height at 2, 3, and 5 MST,andthe number of branches on the main stem. The combine between application of vermicompost andsoybean varieties were insignificanly to all of parametric in the research.Key word : soybean, acid soils, vermicompost, varieties

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe effect of Concentration and Frequency of Etephon Aplication on Growth and Production ofcucumber (Cucumis sativus L.). Cucumber in Indonesia is popular and likely vegetable for all ofsociety. Cucumber productivity (ton/ha) in Indonesia from 2007 to 2011 were decrease from 81.2 to527.1 this was due to less intensive and efficiency in cucumber culture one of the alternative that couldbe done was application etephon of plant growth regulator. The aim of this research was to know theeffects of concentration and frequency of etephon application on growth and production of cucumber,this study was done in faculty of agriculture net house medan (± 25 in above sea level) from Januari –maret 2013. The design used was Randomised Block Design with 2 factors, etephon concentration (0.150, 300 dan 450 ppm) and the frequency of application (1x, 2x and 3x times). The parameterscolected were plant length, number of leaves formed, number of lived leaves, number of femaleflowers, number of female flowers aborted, number of male flowers, ratio of flowers, number of fruitper plant and total weight perplant. From the research, concentration affect significantly on plantlength (4-8 weeks after planting), number of female flowers (39 and 51 days after planting), number offemale flowers aborted (42 and 60 days after planting), number all of male flowers, ratio of flowers (48days after planting). Frequency aplication of etephon affect significantly plant length (6-7 weeks afterplanting). Interaction affect significantly on flowers ratio (48 days after planting ).Keywords : cucumber, concentration , and frequency Etephon.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to know the status of copper (Cu) and Boron (B)at People Palam OilPalm Plantation at Hutabayu Raja Subdistrict, Simalungun District. The result of this study showedthat the status of the two micronutrients are :copper deficient area is about 22.7% (71 Ha) andadequate soil contains Cu is about 77.3% (239 Ha) and the soil content of B is deficient within theresearch are.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIdentification of Morphological Characterisric of Citrus nobilis at Some Areas of Karo District,supervised by EVA SARTINI BAYU and LUTHFI A. M. SIREGAR. Karo district is one of thecentres of citrus production in north Sumatera that have verygood prospect and market potential in ourcountry and overseas, so we need to increase quantity, quality, and continuity. The objective of thisresearch is to identification of morphological characteristic of citrus at Karo district. This research welldone at December 2012 to February 2013 using purposive sampling method. Data obtained fom theinterviews irectly to farmers with some obsevationn on the parameters to be analyzed using thesoftware Minitab 16.The result of this research indicate that morphological characteristic of citrus at 3villages on 37 samples have different morphological characteristic. The higest genetic relationship atC9 and C14 in Kacinambun Village sample (99,89%) and the lowest genetic relationship at A1 and A2 inSuka Village sample (39,44%).Key word : citrus, identification, morphological.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to know the effect of weeding time on the growth and production of some varietiesof sorghum in Pasar 1 street Tanjung Sari, Medan, with ± 25 meters altitude above the sea level inJuly – November 2012. The design use Factorial Separated Design Frame with 2 aspects. The firstaspect as a main frame is variety (Sangkur, Kawali, Numbu) and the second factor as subordinateframe is weeding time (clean weeding during research, weeded after 7 days planting, weeded after 14days planting, weeded after 21 days planting, weeded after 28 days planting, without weedingprocess). The parameters measured were plant height, number of leaves, flowering, canopy wetweight, production per sample, production per plot, the production per ha, the weight of 1000 seeds.From the research, varieties significantly affect on plant height (4-8 weeks after planting), number ofleaves (6 and 8 weeks after planting), flowering, canopy wet weight, production per sample,production per plot, production per hectare, weight 1000 seeds.Weeding time significantly affect onplant height (4-8 weeks after planting) the number of leaves (2-8 weeks after planting), the weight ofthe wet canopy, production per sample, production per plot, production per hectare, the weight of1000 seeds. Interaction significantly affect on the number of leaves 6 weeks after planting.Keywords : sorghum, varieties, and weeding time

Abstract

ABSTRACTGrowth and Yield Responses of some Onion Varieties (Allium ascalonicum L.) with Cocoa WasteCompost on The Inceptisol supervised by Luthfi Aziz Mahmud Siregar and Rosmayati. The studyaimed to know respons of four onion extent on the provision of cocoa waste compost on inceptisol,Research was conducted at campus area Tengku Amir Hamzah University, Pancing. Medan Estate,Deli Serdang (±15 m above sea level) from April -Juli 2012. This study used a randomized blockdesign the frist factors was the variety such as Medan Variety, Maja Variety, Kuning Variety andBali Karet Variety. The second factor was with 4 levels of cocoa waste compost, namely 0 g, 236 g,472 g, and708 g. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance, followed by HonestlySignificant Difference test. The results showed that the varieties significantly of plant height,number of leaves at 2 week after plant,bulbs per sample,fresh weight per sample, dry weight persample, fresh weight per plot, dry weight per plot and harves time.Respons of giving cocoa wastecompost not significantly to all observation parameters. Interaction between varieties and dosescocoa waste compost ot significantlyto all observation parameters.Keywords: onion,cocoa waste compost, varieties, inceptisol soil.
