Abstract

The aims of this research was to evaluate the response of the growth and yield of some mutants (M2) mungbean to water supply of 40% of field capacity. The research was carried out in greenhouse of Agricultural Faculty, University of North Sumatera, Medan, start from December 2013 till March 2014 with eight genotypes, A: is genotype of (F2R0C0), B: is genotype of (M2R1C0),C: is genotype of (M2R1C3), D: is genotype of (M2R2C0), E: is genotype of (M2R2C2), F: is genotype of (M2R3C0), G: is genotype of (M2R3C1), H: is genotype of (M2R3C2), at 40% of Field Capacity by using randomized block design. The treatment was repeated twice. Data were analyzed with ANOVA and continued with LSD. The result of research showed that the mutant genotype B (M2R1C0), E (M2R2C2), and F (M2R3C0) were significantly difference on seed weight per plant, genotype B (M2R1C0) and E (M2R2C2) were significantly difference on 100-seed weight, and genotype E (M2R2C2) was significantly difference on number of pods containingKeywords: Mung bean, mutant (M2), 40% of field capacity.

Abstract

The objectives of the research was to know the preferences of stink bug (N. viridula) on soybean plant and long bean in screenhouse. This research was conducted in the screenhouse Faculty of Agriculture University of Sumatera Utara from April until July 2014. This method used Block Randomized Design (BRD) nonfactorial with two treatments soybean and long bean, respectively with nine replications. The results showed that N. viridula prefer soybean than long bean. The highest number of adults N. viridula (10.17 head) on K1. The highest index attack percentage (83.95%), most attack symptoms, and the highest number of eggs N. viridula (31.56 grain) on soybean while the highest number of nymphs (9.67 head) on long bean.Key words: preferences, Nezara viridula, soybean, long bean.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know effective concentrationof M. anisopliae and HaNPV to Helicoperva armigera in the field. This research was carried out in Desa Tanjung Makmur Subdistrict Tandem Hulu 1 District Deli Serdang. This research used sampling random technique non factorial with seven treatments and four replications. They were the result showed that the highest larvae population was control (1.35) and the lowest was HaNPV 6g/liter of water (0.10). The highest of attacked intensity was control (38.75% ) and the lowest was HaNPV 6g/liter of water (2.50%). The highest production was HaNPV 6g/liter of water (261.09 g) and the lowest was M. anisopliae 4g/liter of water(234.45 g).Keywords : Helicoverpa armigera, Metarhizium anisopliae, Helicoverpa armigera Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus (HaNPV).

Abstract

This study aims to study phatogenicity of C. militaris against S. asigna larvae in screen house. This study research using completely randomized design (CRD) nonfactorial with seven treatments and four replications, namely control, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 grams C. militaris with corn media. The results showed that the application C. militaris in corn media was highly significant affected the mortality percentage of larvae S. asigna on obsevation four days after application and six days after the application. The highest mortality percentage on four days after application on C. militaris 35 gr (25%) and the lowest on C. militaris 10 grams (7.50%). The highest mortality percentage on six days after the application on C. militaris 35 grams, C. militaris 30 grams and C. militaris 25 grams (100%) and the lowest on C. militaris 10 grams (85%). Larvae S. asigna was infected by C. militaris suffered mimification and after afew days grow colonies colored white fungus (micelium) around the larva body.Keywords : Setothosea asigna, Cordyceps militaris, mortality percentage, corn media

Abstract

The objectives of the research was todetermine the relationship ofthe percentage of attackandestimateyield losses due toattack by coffee berryborer, HypothenemushampeiFerr. (Coleoptera: Scolytidae) inSimalungun district.This research used asurvey methodwith linear regression analysis between percentage of attack withpercentageloss of yield, regressionbetween the percentage of attack withpopulation densityand regressionbetweenpopulationdensity with percentageyield loss.The results showedthat thepopulationdensity ofpests onred fruithad asignificant relationship to thepercentageof yield lossin the red fruit,butthe percentage of attacksdid not havea significant relationship topopulation densityandthe percentage ofyield loss. The highestattack intensity(46.78%) wasin the DolokHuluanand the lowest(5.42%) wasin Bangun Saribu. The highest percentage of yield loss(17.25%) wasin SimpangHinalangand the lowest(8.45%) wasin BosiSinombah. Abstract

The aim of this research was to know growth response and production of some sorghum varieties to the addition of tithonia compost. The research was held from July - November 2014, used randomized block design with three factors addition of tithonia compost (0, 10, and 20 ton/ha) and two varieties (Kawali and Numbu). Parameters measured were plant height,the number of leaves , flowering time, weight of panicle seed per sample, weight of panicle seed per plot, yield per sample, yield per plot, and 1000 grains weight. The result showed that compost doesn’t affected significantly on all of parameters. Varieties affected significantly on plant height, the number of leaves, flowering time, yield per sample, yield per plot, and 1000 grains weight. There  were not any interaction between compost and variety on all parameters. The best result was found in the combination of 10 kg tithonia compost and numbu variety. Abstract

This research aims to know the efective height and type of trap which is most attack H. hampei in the field. The research was held at Pearung village, Sub-district Paranginan, District Humbang Hasundutan, North Sumatera from September until October 2014. The method used Randomized Block Design with two factors and three replications. The first factor was height of trap (1.0 ; 1.2 ; 1.4 ; 1.6 and 1.8 m) and the second factor was the type of trap (single funnel trap, multiple funnel trap, and mineral bottle). The results showed that the best trap was 1.2 m + multiple funnel trap, and the highest symptom percentage was 1.0 m + single funnel trap.Keywords : height, trapping, Hypothenemus hampei Ferr.

Abstract

This research has been conducted to study the effect of nitrogen fertilizer and zeolite on growth of tobacco. This research has been conducted in screen house at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara, Medan (± 25 m above sea level) during September until November 2014 using factorial randomized block design with two factors are nitrogen fertilizer (0; 9,02; 18,04 g ZA/plant) and zeolite ( 0; 31,5; 63,1; 94,6 g/plant). The parameters observed were plant height, diameter of stem, numbers of leaf, greennes of leaf and summarize of leaf area. The results of the research showed that nitrogen fertilizers increased plant growth of tobacco Deli, zeolites and both of interaction has not increase plant growth of tobacco Deli.Key words : nitrogen, zeolite, Deli tobacco.

Abstract

This research aims to get a right dose of inorganic fertilizer and the appropriate amount of leaf pruning on the growth and yield of maize (Zea mays L.) varieties Pioneer - 23, conducted in community land Jl. Setia Budi, Simpang Selayang village, subdistrict of Medan Tuntungan with ± 25 m altitude above sea level in March and July 2011 using a randomized block design factorial with 2 factors: inorganic fertilizer (NPK) (0, 175, 350, dan 525 kg/ha) and pruning leaves (not pruned, 2 lowest leaves pruned, and 4 lowest leaves pruned). The results showed that inorganic fertilizer was significant effected for plant height of 6 WAP, days to flowering, amount of leaf chlorophyll, plant dry weight’s sampels, plot’s production, weight of dry shelled sampels, weight of 100 grains seeds. Leaves pruning was notsignificant effected for all parameters except days to flowering and amount of leaf chlorophyll The interaction of inorganic fertilizer with pruning leaves show were notsignificant effected for all parameters.Keywords : maize, inorganic fertilizer, leaves pruning

Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the effect of glyphosate herbicide application on the percentage of live and survive parasitoid age in laboratory and the best time for the introduction of parasitoids to the field after application of parasitoids. The research was held at Laboratory of Sugarcane Research and Developmnet Sei Semayang, Binjai, Medan, North Sumatera from Juny to August 2014. The method used Non-factorial Randomized Complete Design which is application time factor glyphosate herbicide control, 3, 5,7,and 9 days after application respectively.The results showed that giving of herbicides significantly affect mortality Sturmiopsis inferens and Trichogramma spp. Giving herbicides also significantly affected age survive Cotesia flavipes, S. inferens. and Trichogramma spp.Keywords : parasitoid, Cotesia flavipes, Sturmiopsis. inferens, Trichogramma spp., glyphosate herbicide
