Abstract

The life experienced by inmates at the Class IIB Situbondo Detention Center involves numerous psychological challenges, such as the loss of family, loss of self-control, and loss of support. This study aims to describe the psychological well-being of inmates at the Class IIB Situbondo Detention Center. This research employs a qualitative method with a field study or case study approach. The selection of research subjects was conducted using purposive sampling, while data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Furthermore, data analysis techniques consisted of data condensation, data display, and data verification or conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The conclusions of this study indicate that the psychological well-being of female inmates at the Class IIB Situbondo Correctional Facility has not yet been optimally fulfilled due to several existing constraints. Supporting factors for the psychological well-being of female inmates include social support, positive interactions, and spirituality. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors affecting psychological well-being consist of personality traits, cultural differences, and limitations in facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling (GC) Model in career planning services for vocational high school (SMK) students. The research background is based on the challenges of transitioning from school to the workforce, which requires students’ career readiness, including the development of competencies, career knowledge, and adaptability to industrial dynamics. This study employs a mixed-method approach, collecting data through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and document analysis. Participants include SMK students, guidance counselors, and related stakeholders. Data analysis is conducted using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods to provide a holistic view of the effectiveness of comprehensive GC services. The findings indicate that GC services integrating assessment, individual counseling, group guidance, and career information enhance students’ career readiness. Assessment of students’ interests, talents, and competencies serves as the foundation for personalized and relevant career planning. Continuous evaluation and monitoring provide feedback for service improvement, enabling students to develop career adaptability, self-efficacy, and positive attitudes in career decision-making. This study highlights that comprehensive GC is an effective strategy to prepare students for workforce challenges.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has driven the need for innovation in comprehensive guidance and counseling services, particularly in facilitating students' career development more effectively and engagingly. This study examines the integration of gamification into a comprehensive guidance and counseling program as a strategy to increase students' motivation, engagement, and understanding of career planning in the digital era. Through the implementation of game elements such as points, levels, challenges, and instant feedback, the program is designed to create a more interactive and personalized learning experience. The study results indicate that gamification can increase active participation, strengthen understanding of career concepts, and encourage the development of 21st-century competencies such as creativity, collaboration, and digital literacy. This integration also helps counselors monitor student progress more objectively and systematically. Thus, gamification is a potential innovative approach to strengthen the effectiveness of career guidance and counseling services in a technology-based educational context.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of Islamic religious guidance in improving the mental serenity of inmates in cases of embezzlement and motorycycle fraud at Class IIA Banyuwangi Prison. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. The results showed that Islamic religious guidance can help improve the mental serenity of inmates by providing an understanding of religious and moral values. Islamic religious guidance can also help inmates to overcrome stress and anxiety experienced during the period of punishment. In addition, Islamic religious guidance can also help inmates to increase self awareness and responsibility for their actions. This study also found that Islamic religious guidance can help inmates to improve their quality of life and prepare themselves for reintegration into society. This research is expected to contribute to the development of Islamic religious guidance in correctional institutions and improve the quality of life of inmates.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the career guidance program and analyze its contribution in improving the readiness of inmates before release in Situbondo Class IIB Detention Center. The research approach used is qualitative with a case study method, with data collection techniques in the form of observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the career guidance program that includes skills training, career guidance, and provision of the world of work has a positive influence on increasing the knowledge, motivation, and self-confidence of inmates in preparing themselves to enter the world of work after release. Furthermore, instructor support, the availability of training facilities, and collaboration with external parties are important contributing factors in determining the program's success. This study concludes that career guidance plays a strategic role in improving inmates' readiness, and therefore recommends its expansion and quality improvement to support a more effective social reintegration process.

Abstract

This research aims to examines the influence of the role of Islamic Religious Counsellors (PAI) on the level of understanding of the Sakinah Family concept among prospective brides and grooms (catin) at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) in Banyuwangi District. The Sakinah family is the fundamental goal of Islamic marriage, but achieving it often requires proper guidance due to prevalent pre-marital and spousal misunderstanding issues. PAIs are essential for equipping couples with the necessary knowledge on faith, piety, and noble character (akhlakul karimah). The study utilizes a quantitative correlational method involving 15 prospective couples or 30 persons from the KUA of Banyuwangi District. Data was efficiently collected using a QR-code converted from Google Form administered after the couples attended Marriage Guidance. Analysis was conducted using simple linear regression. The PAI's multifaceted role is defined as Educator (teaching rights and duties), Counselor (addressing concerns and conflicts), and Facilitator (empowering practical skills). The results demonstrate that the role of PAI has a strong and significant influence on the couples' level of understanding of the Sakinah family. The PAI's contribution accounts for 65.9% of the variance in understanding ($Sig. = 0.000$). The positive coefficient ($B = 1.931$) confirms a direct relationship: increased quality or presence of PAI guidance significantly raises the level of Sakinah family understanding among prospective couples. This underscores the critical importance of PAI in marriage preparation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Islamic religious guidance in enhancing the spirit of worship among inmates who have converted to Islam in correctional institutions. The increasing number of converts within correctional environments indicates a need for more intensive, focused, and personalized religious guidance to meet their spiritual needs. As individuals undergoing rehabilitation, convert inmates often face limitations in basic Islamic knowledge and low motivation to perform religious practices. Therefore, Islamic religious guidance serves as an essential instrument in shaping understanding, attitudes, and the consistent practice of Islamic teachings. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through direct observation of religious guidance activities, in-depth interviews, individual counseling sessions, and religious lectures. The findings reveal that the implementation of Islamic religious guidance in correctional institutions contributes significantly to increasing the spirit of worship among convert inmates. Guidance activities, including instruction on prayer procedures, ablution, fasting, Quran recitation, and spiritual mentoring, effectively deepen religious understanding. Moreover, individualized counseling that emphasizes spiritual motivation, patience, and moral reflection positively influences religious awareness and encourages consistency in worship practices, particularly prayer, dhikr, and Quran reading. In conclusion, Islamic religious guidance plays a significant role in strengthening the religious spirit of Muslim converts in correctional institutions. A systematically designed and continuous guidance program, supported by personalized spiritual assistance, is a key factor in fostering religious character development and supporting the moral rehabilitation of inmates. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for correctional institutions in developing religious guidance programs and for future research on spiritual guidance in correctional settings.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation process and impact of dhikr-based counseling for female inmates involved in drug abuse at the Class IIA Women’s Correctional Facility in Banyuwangi. The research stems from the high vulnerability to depression among female inmates, influenced by psychological stress, past trauma, and restrictive prison conditions. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this study investigates inmates’ inner experiences and their interpretation of the spiritual counseling program they participated in. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and ducumentation, then analyzed and validated using triangulation techniques. The findings show that dhikr practices conducted in both group and individual sessions positively influence emotional, cognitive, and spiritual aspects. Inmates reported increased calmness, improved cognitive restructuring, and better emotional regulation. Furthermore, the dhikr intervention strengthened regilious meaning and self-control, contributing to reduced depressive symptoms. Overall, dzikr-based counseling is proven effictive as a rehabilitative approach to support the mental recovery of female inmates within correctional institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of problem-solving techniques as an effort to enhance self-control among inmates convicted of child abuse at class IIA Banyuwangi Correctional Facility. The research employed a qualitative method with a case study design, involving a single inmate, M. I , as the subject. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document review. The findings indicate that the application of problem-solving techniques assists the subject in identifying emotional triggers, understanding the problems encountered, and selecting more adaptive solution alternatives. Improvements in self-control were also influenced by the subject’s engagement in productive activities, such as working in the laundry section, which provided routine and income, as well as increased discipline in performing prayers. Overall, the problem-solving technique proved effective in strengthening self-control among inmates with a history of violent behavior.

Abstract

Inmates (specifically in Sritanjung) involved in drug trafficking cases often face a dual stigma: as criminals and as "destroyers of society." This negative labeling impacts the self-concept and leads to a loss of meaning in life, which in turn triggers recidivism. This community service (dedication/project) aims to restore the self-esteem and self-potential awareness of inmates involved in drug trafficking through the implementation of humanistic counseling. This approach was chosen because it focuses on unconditional positive regard and self-actualization. The implementation method uses Participatory Action Research (PAR) with the stages of building (rapport), exploring feelings, digging for insight (potential), and action planning. The subject of this project was one inmate categorized as a drug trafficker at Lapas Kelas IIA Banyuwangi (Banyuwangi Class IIA Penitentiary/Correctional Institution). The results show a significant increase in (self-acceptance). The inmate, who initially felt worthless and ostracized, began to see positive potential within themselves to live a new, productive life post-release. The contribution of this activity is the strengthening of a humanistic coaching model in the Penitentiary, one that not only punishes but also restores human dignity.
