Abstract

This paper aims to describe the concept of ablution and tayamum as stated in the Qur'an, especially in surah Al-Maidah verse 6. This research uses a qualitative method with a thematic interpretation approach as an analytical knife. The data is obtained through literature study with the main source in the form of the Qur'an and books of tafsir, and supported by secondary data derived from books, scientific journals, and relevant theses. The results show that the Qur'an provides clear and systematic guidance on the procedures for purification, both through ablution and tayamum, as a valid requirement in the implementation of worship. Wudhu is used in normal conditions with water, while Tayamum is allowed in emergency conditions when water is not available or cannot be used. This finding underscores the principle of convenience (taysir) in Islamic teachings and emphasizes the importance of physical and mental cleanliness as the foundation of people's spirituality.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the educational values of Islamic creed (‘aqīdah) contained in the Qur’an by emphasizing two main dimensions: ‘aqīdah as the foundation of social ethics and as a safeguard for the quality of faith. The study is motivated by the importance of understanding ‘aqīdah in shaping the holistic personality of a Muslim, both in their vertical relationship with Allah and their horizontal relationship with fellow human beings. This research employs a qualitative method using a library research approach, and the data is analyzed through a thematic interpretation (tafsīr maudhū‘ī) of Qur’anic verses related to the core principles of Islamic creed. The findings reveal that the Qur’an does not merely convey theological doctrine in a theoretical sense, but also instills practical educational values. These values include belief in Allah, His messengers, His revealed books, the angels, the Last Day, and divine decree (qadar), which are integrated with social actions such as giving zakat, keeping promises, exercising patience in adversity, and caring for the underprivileged. Thus, ‘aqīdah in the Qur’anic perspective plays a strategic role in shaping both the spiritual and social integrity of a Muslim. This study affirms that religious education in the form of ‘aqīdah not only shapes belief but also directs behavior toward a holistic and transformative religiosity

Abstract

This study aims to examine the importance of spiritual communication in healthcare, particularly in supporting the healing process of patients who are experiencing illness. Spiritual communication is seen as a non-medical approach that contributes to peace of mind, psychological strengthening, and increased patient motivation in dealing with illness. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection methods through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Primary data sources were obtained from health workers and patients, while secondary data was collected from literature, journal articles, and other academic references. The results showed that spiritual communication, whether through prayer, strengthening beliefs, or spiritual support from family and medical personnel, plays a significant role in accelerating the patient's recovery process. Therefore, the integration of spiritual aspects in healthcare is essential to realize a holistic and humane approach to healing.

Abstract

Health and cleanliness are two essential aspects of human life that receive significant attention in Islamic teachings. This study aims to explore the meaning and message contained in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 222, particularly in relation to marital relations, personal purity, and the dimensions of cleanliness from both spiritual and physical perspectives. The research employs a literature review method using a thematic (maudhu’i) tafsir approach by examining interpretations from classical and contemporary scholars. The findings reveal that the verse not only prohibits sexual relations during menstruation as a form of biological protection but also conveys moral and educational messages regarding respect for women, the strengthening of family relationships, and the instilling of cleanliness as an expression of obedience to God. In addition to its physical health benefits, Islamic cleanliness practices align with modern health principles and contribute to psychological balance and spiritual resilience. Thus, cleanliness in Islam is not merely a ritual obligation but a fundamental ethical and social principle for building a healthy, harmonious, and sustainable life.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of problem-assisted learning using Gnuplot software on student learning outcomes. The method used is a quantitative descriptive approach with simple linear regression analysis techniques. The research sample consisted of 30 students who had used Gnuplot in the learning process. The instrument used was a questionnaire with a four-point Likert scale. The results of the analysis show that there is a fairly strong relationship between problem-assisted learning variables and learning outcomes, with a correlation coefficient of 0.44 and a coefficient of determination of 19%. In addition, the significance test shows that Gnuplot-assisted learning has a real influence on student learning outcomes. Thus, the use of Gnuplot as a tool in problem-based learning has proven to be effective in increasing students' understanding and academic achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms and functions of apologizing as a speech act in everyday communication from a pragmatic and sociolinguistic perspective. Using a qualitative library research method, data were collected from recent scholarly sources and analyzed through the frameworks of speech act theory and politeness theory. The findings show that apologies are influenced by social factors such as power relations, social distance, and the severity of the offense. Apologies are often delivered indirectly, using hedges and softeners to mitigate face threats. This indicates that apologizing is not merely a personal expression of regret, but a strategic act to maintain social harmony.

Abstract

This study investigates semantic ambiguity in translation, with a specific focus on lexical ambiguity in the English–Indonesian translation of the Cinderella short story. Grounded in Nida and Taber’s theory of semantic equivalence and Baker’s framework of non-equivalence, the research examines how lexical items in the source language may lead to multiple interpretations or shifts in meaning when translated into the target language. Using a qualitative content analysis method, the study identifies patterns of meaning distortion resulting from ambiguous or culturally loaded words. The findings indicate that lexical ambiguity significantly contributes to semantic non-equivalence, often causing partial or lost meaning that undermines narrative clarity and coherence. The study highlights the critical role of contextual awareness and lexical precision in literary translation to preserve intended meaning.

Abstract

This study investigates the semantic change and socio-cultural functions of taboo words in Batak culture, focusing on how these expressions evolve and operate within traditional and modern interactions. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through ethnographic interviews and participant observation involving native Batak speakers across different age and social groups. The analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. Findings reveal that Batak taboo words have undergone various types of semantic change such as pejoration, narrowing, specialization, and metaphorical extension each reflecting deeply rooted cultural norms, customary values, and social hierarchies. These taboo expressions function not only as linguistic tools for emotional control and social regulation but also as symbolic carriers of identity and tradition. This study offers academic insight into the dynamic relationship between language and culture and highlights the importance of preserving indigenous semantic frameworks within endangered local languages.

Abstract

Semantic ambiguity is a pervasive feature of natural language that arises when words, phrases, or sentences carry multiple possible interpretations. This study aims to explore the nature, types, and communicative implications of semantic ambiguity in everyday conversations through a descriptive qualitative approach and library research method. Findings indicate that semantic ambiguity manifests in lexical, structural, and pragmatic forms, which may cause confusion if not resolved using contextual cues, prosodic elements, or clarification strategies. However, ambiguity is not merely a communication obstacle it also serves as a rhetorical device in humor, advertising, indirect speech, and cross-cultural interactions. Understanding how ambiguity operates in language enhances our awareness of context, social dynamics, and cultural variation in meaning-making. This study contributes to the field of linguistics by emphasizing the importance of pragmatic competence and interpretive flexibility in effective communication.
