Abstract

It seems as if the relics of the megalithic era will never fade over time. This can be seen from several relics that have distinctive characteristics, especially the relics at the Seputih  Site.  The Seputih site in  Seputih Mayang Village seems to be a witness that there was prehistoric life that can still be seen today. The discovery of sarcophagi and dolmens, which can be seen and examined from a distance, shows that at that time there were already animist beliefs and dynamism, as indicated by the presence of stone tombs and places to worship the spirits of their ancestors. These discoveries from the past are certainly a legacy that must be safeguarded by today's society by preserving these relics as completely as possible. Through this article, we will discuss the efforts of community awareness in preserving the  Seputih  Mayang site as a cultural heritage from the megalithic period during the 1996-2012 period.

Abstract

According to Tan Malaka, one of the directions towards Indonesian independence is through education. One of the essential things that needed to be accomplished by Indonesian society at that time was to eliminate mythical beliefs that were ingrained in flesh and blood (Afandi and Rahman, 2015). Tan Malaka's goal is to invite Indonesian citizens to apply logic and scientific understanding to help the Indonesian nation become an independent and progressive nation in the future. The aim of writing this article is that the author will focus on further exploring Tan Malaka's thoughts on education, as well as its impact on education policy in Indonesia today. This research is qualitative in nature and uses a descriptive analytical approach. This method is used to see traces of Tan Malaka's thoughts about education from a concept or infrastructure perspective with education in Indonesia today. According to Tan Malaka, education can be used as a political tool to achieve big goals, one of which is achieving national independence. According to Tan Malaka, education must be given in Indonesian and removed from Indonesian culture. The education designed by Tan Malaka is revolutionary-oriented education. In the modern era, Tan Malaka's own thoughts can be adapted into an independent curriculum, namely the freedom for students to explore personal abilities without being burdened by rigid and passive conventional learning methods.

Abstract

The emancipation of women is often seen as a movement of women's injustice in an effort to seek justice for women. The position of men and women is the same, but often the degree of men is higher than the degree of women. One of the figures who championed women's emancipation or feminism was R.A Kartini, who was a national figure of the Jepara community. Her struggle and role in women's emancipation gave results that can be felt now, namely being able to take an education that is equal to men in terms of obtaining an education. So the author is interested in discussing the role of R.A Kartini in the emancipation of women in Indonesia. This research uses the literacy study method using the research steps of topic selection, heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. The results of the writing show that R.A Kartini played an important role in the emancipation of women, especially in terms of education, especially for women. namely by establishing a “Girl's School” in the Jepara area.

Abstract

This journal conducts research on how women's identity was structured during the New Order period from 1968 to 1983. Initially, the policies created by the PKK and KB aimed to control women's movements in the political sphere. Ultimately, these policies became very important because they were used as a means of controlling the state. As this study shows, state policies did not always focus on the welfare and interests of the people. The legitimacy of power was used as a tool for the interests of the people, but it was also used for personal interests or the interests of certain groups. In addition, the legitimacy of power is used to override the rights of the people by resorting to violence to implement established policies. At that time, Indonesian women were undergoing a period of transition.

Abstract

Women have an important role in the process of forming a new civilization, because it is from women that the new generation receives education. It is not surprising that the lack of progress of women influences whether or not a nation develops or progresses. In Indonesian history, women have had their own dynamics in their historical role; women's participation in all aspects of national and state life cannot be ignored. Even though the majority of women in Indonesia are under patriarchal domination, in line with the demands of the times and the real conditions of the surrounding environment, women are also required to play an active role in the public sector. This research uses a qualitative approach with document analysis methods as a data collection instrument.

Abstract

This article examines the uniqueness of Banyuwangi culture through the transformation and relationship between Gandrung Dance and Seblang Dance as the main tourist attraction in the region. The research uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach to explore the dynamics, meaning, and function of the two dances in the context of cultural tourism. The results of the study show that Seblang Dance, which is sacred and ritual in nature, became the forerunner of Gandrung Dance which now develops as an entertainment dance and more open social media and becomes an icon of Banyuwangi tourism. This transformation reflects the adaptation of local culture to social change and tourism needs. Apart from being a tourist attraction, these two dances also play an important role in preserving traditional values and strengthening the identity of the Using community. However, the process of commercialization and packaging Gandrung as a tourist product also brings its own challenges, especially in maintaining the sacredness and original meaning of the two arts. This article concludes that the preservation and development of Gandrung Dance and Seblang Dance are very important for the sustainability of local culture and the strengthening of sustainable cultural tourism in Banyuwangi.

Abstract

The Keboan Aliyan ritual is a sacred tradition of the Osing people in Aliyan Village, Banyuwangi, which has been going on since the Blambangan Kingdom era until today. This ritual is not only an expression of gratitude and a request for protection from disasters, but also reflects the spiritual, social and cultural values of the local community. This article examines the development of Keboan Aliyan across local history, from the royal, colonial, to the modern era, and elaborates on its sacred meaning and socio-cultural functions. This research uses the oral history method through in-depth interviews with actors, traditional leaders, and residents of Aliyan Village, as well as a literature review approach by examining various written sources such as journals, books, and official documents. In the discussion, this article also reviews the origin of the Keboan ritual, which is believed to be an ancestral heritage, a form of respect for ancestors, a request for land fertility, and village protection. The results show that Keboan Aliyan is a symbol of identity, solidarity adhesive, and a medium for preserving Osing traditional values that remain relevant amid the challenges of modernization and globalization. Thus, this ritual is a proof of local cultural resilience and the richness of Banyuwangi's traditional heritage.
