Abstract

Metacognition is a central part of controlling the thinking process. Students who have good metacognitive skills are assumed to be able to control their own thinking processes so that they become independent learners. Metacognitive awareness plays an important role in the implementation of learning. Therefore, this study aims to describe students' metacognitive awareness in the implementation of the independent curriculum for Indonesian language subjects at SMA Negeri 8 Padang. This type of research is quantitative with a descriptive method. Data collection was carried out by giving questionnaires to 100 samples and interviews. Data analysis was carried out in two ways, namely descriptive analysis for questionnaire data and content analysis for interview data. The results of this study indicate that students' metacognitive awareness at SMA Negeri 8 Padang in the implementation of the independent curriculum for Indonesian language subjects is classified as good with a percentage of 79.10%. Regarding metacognitive knowledge, students have very good awareness with a rate of 82.47%. In terms of metacognitive strategies, students have good awareness with a percentage of 77.36%. Students already have awareness of metacognitive knowledge and need encouragement in efforts to increase awareness of metacognitive strategies. Teachers also need to motivate students and always carry out activities that encourage increased metacognitive awareness in students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the results of the assessment of article text material using Quiz Whizzer and to describe the challenges encountered during the implementation of formative assessment based on interactive quizzes through Quiz Whizzer. The subjects of this study were students of Class XII MIPA 3 at SMAN 4 Kota Cirebon. The research employed a narrative method with descriptive analysis techniques. The findings showed that the results of the formative test assessment in article text learning using Quiz Whizzer yielded an average score percentage of 58.08, which falls into the moderate category. However, the use of Quiz Whizzer presented several challenges, such as internet access issues, a ranking reduction system, the ability to access browser tabs—allowing students to search for answers online—and the risk of delayed participation in the quiz forum, which could result in students not joining the quiz

Abstract

his study aims to describe the use of musicalization videos as a medium for formative assessment in poetry writing instruction for seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Kota Cirebon. Using a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, the study involved students in the creation of free-form poems, which were then developed into musicalization videos and uploaded to social media as a form of formative evaluation. The results show that this instructional strategy enhances students’ creativity, participation, and understanding of poetry. Adapting the learning process to students’ learning styles—visual, auditory, and kinesthetic—helped them express ideas, refine word choices, and integrate poetry with musical elements. Furthermore, the activity also improved students’ self-confidence, collaboration skills, and digital literacy. Thus, the use of musicalization videos as formative assessment has proven effective in developing poetry writing skills and enriching the literary learning experience in a contextual and enjoyable way.

Abstract

The purpose of the research to describe the maxims in the speech of the e-commerce Shopee and Lazada in the phenomenon 12.12.  This research is focused on the politeness in language that related to the maxims including tact, generosity, approbation, modesty, agreement, and sympathy. The researcher used descriptive qualitative as the research method for this research.  The data source of the research was the speech between participants or customers of the 12.12 phenomenon with Shopee and Lazada admins in Instagram social media.  The data of this research are 1.253 words or comments.  The details are 692 in the Shopee comments column and 561 in the Lazada comments column.  The data was chosen based on the focus of topics related to the use of shopping vouchers, free shipping costs, ect.  The data were gained through reading and note taking.  The data analysis technique conducted by researcher through namely data reduction, data presentation and verification.  The results of the analysis show that politeness of language in the 12.12 e-commerce phenomenon Shopee and Lazada as an effort to maintain harmony by maximizing and prioritizing the benefits of other parties, namely customers.  This is evidenced by the tact maxim which dominates the speech of Shopee and Lazada staff when interacting with other parties.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach in enhancing students' understanding of the structure of observation report texts by integrating elements of local culture and students’ personal experiences into the learning process. This research employed a quantitative pre-experimental design, conducted through two stages of data collection: a pre-test and a post-test. The sample consisted of 49 eighth-grade students from Class VIII C at SMP Negeri 1 Kota Cirebon. The data collected focused on cognitive learning outcomes. In this study, a normalized gain (N-Gain) test was used to determine the improvement in students’ average pre-test and post-test scores. The results showed an N-Gain score of 0.72, indicating that students fell into the “high” category and achieved significantly better cognitive learning outcomes

Abstract

This study aims to describe the personality structure of the main character in the short story Pantaskah Aku Bahagia by Arta Tri Wahyuningsih. This is a qualitative descriptive study and falls under the category of library research, using literary psychology theory as its analytical framework. Data were collected by repeatedly reading the short story and taking notes on aspects relevant to the research focus. The results show that the story follows a chronological (progressive) plot. Based on the analysis, the main character’s personality structure consists of the id, ego, and superego within the character Welastri. The impulses of Welastri's id are fulfilled through the ego’s response, which is guided by the superego's considerations. The id is reflected in Welastri’s strong determination to find her biological mother. The ego is evident when Welastri discovers that her biological mother—whom she had been searching for—is actually the mother of her friend, Sofyan, and had already passed away by the time she found out. The superego is shown when Welastri tries to find out about her biological mother secretly, without her foster parents (Abi and Umi) knowing, allowing her to uncover the truth. Abstract

his study aims to analyze the use of infographic media in teaching procedural texts as an effort to enhance the learning motivation of Grade 9A students at SMPN 6 Kota Cirebon. Infographics were chosen for their ability to visually present information in an engaging way, which is expected to facilitate understanding and increase students’ interest in learning. The research employed a qualitative approach, with data collected through observations and interviews. The findings indicate that the use of infographic media in procedural text learning can enhance students’ learning motivation. This is evidenced by increased student enthusiasm during the learning process. Teachers also reported that infographics helped simplify complex material, making it easier for students to understand. However, several challenges were noted, such as students' difficulty in conceptualizing ideas for their infographics and technical issues related to internet access. Overall, the use of infographics proved effective in improving both students’ motivation and understanding in procedural text learning.

Abstract

One of the strategic efforts to internalize local wisdom values is through the design, development, and implementation of instructional materials rooted in local cultural heritage. However, in practice—particularly in the city of Cirebon—existing teaching materials have yet to adequately reflect the richness of local identity and traditions. This study aims to (1) describe the design of supplementary teaching materials informed by a needs analysis of students, and (2) examine the outcomes of implementing legend-based instructional materials for seventh-grade students at the junior secondary school level (SMP/MTs). Employing a descriptive-analytical research method, this study seeks to analyze both the development process and the effectiveness of the localized legend text materials. The findings indicate that the developed teaching materials are highly valid and suitable for classroom use, although minor revisions are required to enhance the overall quality and completeness of the textbook.
