Komunikatif is issued by Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Katolik Widya Mandala Surabaya since 2012. Komunikatif is a peer-reviewed journal. Komunikatif publishes an article from selected topics in communication studies; those are media studies, public relations, and human communication. Articles issued by Komunikatif are conceptual articles and research articles. Komunikatif aims at publishing research and scientific thinking regarding the development of communication studies and contemporary social phenomena. Komunikatif also wishes to become an eligible reference for students and/or academia, especially in the communication field. Komunikatif is issued twice a year (July and December). Komunikatif clarifies ethical behavior for all parties involved, including authors, editor-in-chief, Editorial Board, reviewers, and publisher. Abstract

Having a positive image is an achievement for companies and organizations including a university. As a Public Relations (PR), building image both internally or externally is part of Public Relations’ job. In building the image, Online media and social media are really needed. Online media and social media are the communication media that are used by PR in order to improve or regain the positive image of the university. The purpose of this research is to find out whether using online media and social media can build positive image of the university or not. This research is a descriptive qualitative research, by using interviews, observation, and documentation for getting the data. This research uses Satya Wacana Christian University – Salatiga (UKSW) as the case study. The results of this research indicate that the use of Online media and social media in universities significantly influences the positive image, that is UKSW as a university with various ethnics and achievements, so it affected and educated the community. From the information, the communities can assess whether the universities have high quality, strong tolerance and cultured or not. Through online media and social media, trust also emerges from the communities, and this will positively affect the positive image of the university.

Abstract

Web series as a new form to deliver the message become alternative for company to promote their product. There are few company which create web series to build their company image. Web series also become the new way form of sponsorship. It’s happened based on the development of active audience in choosing media content, there for the emergence of web series as new form of sponsorship can reduce audience activity who love to skip the commercial break. “Sore” is one of the web series tittle which created by Tropicana Slim as sponsorship form. Tropicana Slim create “Sore” to get closer with their market, young adult. Web series that used as sponsorship become interesting subject tobe studied, because there is only some research that use web series as a subject. This research will use Reasoned Action Theory (RAT) to see the influence of web series exposure toward the behavioral intention especially in the brand purchase intention and the tendency of healthy living behavior. Methods of data collection is done by survey and calculation model is done by path analysis. The result of this research shows that web series has no effect on brand purchase intention or the trend of healthy living behavior directly. The influence come when the responded motivate by their social environment that has been mentioned in RAT.

Abstract

The local leaders election of DKI is an example of arena in which the candidates play their own political rhetoric to fight for the voters’ heart. Through the political debates, the candidates have the chances to explain who they are, their vision, and the programs they want to do. With the specific rethoric style, a candidate as a political comunicator has a chance to comunicate with the audiences as well as to impress them as the final goal. This study tries to capture how the styles of political rhetoric of each candidate, both candidates for governor and vice governor are demonstrated. A study, with qualitative approach, on debate video of candidates for governor and vice governor of DKI discovers a scheme of rhetoric style of Agus Yudhoyono which combines rhetoric style of exhortive, personal branding, and bureaucratic. Syliviani Murni puts priority on bureaucratic, formal, and exhortive. Basuki Tjahjana Purnama tends to be more spread with combines open, personal branding and also formal and bureaucratic. On the other hand, Djarot is more familiar with the rhetoric style of bureaucratic and exhortive. Anies Basewedan is so intens with the rhetoric style of personal branding and the combination of bureaucracy and exhortive. Sandiaga Uno tends toward rhetoric style of personal branding.

Abstract

Sumenep is known as a region that has a diversity of cultures, as well as a harmonious society in maintaining inter-ethnic harmony. This was clearly seen in Dungkek Village, Dungkek Subdistrict, where there were unique characteristics of Madurese and Chinese ethnic communities who for hundreds of years lived peacefully side by side. This is what underlies the author's interest in conducting research in Dungkek, which is focused on how the beginning and development of intercultural communication in Dungkek Village and the process of interaction betweenen Madurese and Chinese cultural identities. This type of research is qualitative using descriptive methods. The researcher used cultural identity theory to decipher the evolving variables of cultural identity, and explained the emergence of the identity of the "Chinese Peranakan" in Dungkek. The results of this study were to give birth to the historical aspects of the birth of Chinese Peranakans in the perspective of cultural identity, as well as formulate patterns / models of intercultural communication that developed in Dungkek. In addition, this research succeeded in identifying supporting factors in building intercultural communication in the Sumenep community style.

Abstract

Film is an audio visual communication media to convey a certain message. So most of the movies show a presence in a drama movie can be seen from how women are positioned and represented. The drama film that was studied and analyzed was a movie titled Jan dara. According to laura mulvey cinematic techniques construct a woman as an object of desire and a view for the people behind the screen as well as the audience by highlighting the representation of the female body shape as the main side of sexuality for the object of visual pleasure. In this case cinematic techniques were analyzed which were used in various angles of camera gaze, lighting. So from the analysis results known that cinematic techniques both shooting and lighting techniques in order to be used to launch the desire to look at men and exploit the body of the woman for visual pleasure
