Abstract

Drug abuse among adolescents, particularly students of Vocational High Schools (SMK), has become a serious problem that affects health, academic achievement, and the future of the younger generation. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of SMK students regarding the dangers of drug abuse through a preventive approach in the form of health education and drug screening examinations. The methods employed include interactive counseling, discussions, and amphetamine drug screening. The results indicate an improvement in students’ understanding of the types, impacts, and legal consequences of drug abuse, as well as the development of preventive attitudes in maintaining personal well-being and a drug-free school environment.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PkM) aims to integrate the Pacce value as part of Bugis local wisdom in strengthening social solidarity and inclusive learning within educational settings. Pacce, which emphasizes empathy, social care, and responsibility toward others, is implemented in learning activities as an effort to reinforce humanistic and contextual character education. The program employed a participatory approach through four stages: preparation, implementation, evaluation, and reflection. The participants were secondary school students who were actively involved in value-based discussions, context-driven material delivery, and reflective learning experiences. The results indicate an increase in students’ understanding and awareness of the importance of empathy, cooperation, mutual respect, and acceptance of diversity in school life. The integration of Pacce values contributes to the creation of an inclusive learning climate and the strengthening of social relationships among students. The novelty of this program lies in the utilization of Pacce as a pedagogical framework for inclusive learning that not only functions as a local wisdom–based character education approach but also explicitly supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (quality and inclusive education) and SDG 16 (peace, justice, and strong social cohesion) within the educational context. This program provides both conceptual and practical contributions to the development of sustainable, culturally grounded character education and inclusive learning practices.

Abstract

Waste management is one of the main environmental problems in rural areas, including Tadang Palie Village, Cempa District, Pinrang Regency. The community still faces challenges in sorting and processing household waste, which causes environmental pollution and health risks. This community service program aims to strengthen the implementation of the waste bank system as an effort to reduce waste volume and improve the local community’s economy. The methods used include socialization, training on waste sorting, establishment of waste bank management, and assistance in waste collection and recycling activities. The results show an increase in community awareness and participation in waste management. The waste bank program helps residents save through waste deposits and supports environmental cleanliness. This activity contributes to sustainable village development and encourages community-based waste management practices.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the major non-communicable diseases that continues to increase and contributes significantly to morbidity and mortality rates. This community service activity aimed to describe the risk factors of hypertension among residents in Pising Village, Donri-Donri District, Soppeng Regency. The method used was a descriptive approach with total sampling technique involving 60 respondents diagnosed with hypertension. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire covering demographic characteristics, family history, salt consumption, physical activity, and smoking habits. The results showed that most respondents were aged 51–70 years, predominantly female, had low educational background, and worked as housewives. The majority of respondents had excessive salt consumption, some had a family history of hypertension, lacked regular physical activity, and a small proportion had smoking habits. These findings indicate that hypertension is influenced by both non-modifiable factors such as age, sex, and family history, as well as modifiable factors including dietary patterns, physical activity, and smoking behavior. This activity contributes to community health promotion efforts by providing evidence-based information to support preventive and promotive strategies in controlling hypertension at the community level.

Abstract

Food security is a strategic issue that requires strengthening at the household level as the smallest unit within the food system. This community service activity aimed to enhance family-based food security awareness in commemoration of National Food Day through the “Ragam Inspirasi” talk show broadcast on Radio Peduli Kota Parepare. The program was conducted on September 18, 2025, and aired live via radio and Facebook to broaden audience reach. An educative-participatory approach was employed through an interactive dialogue between the speaker and the moderator, followed by a question-and-answer session with listeners. The topics covered included the concept of food security, its four pillars, the role of families in managing household food consumption, and the importance of local food diversification and balanced nutrition. The results indicated increased public literacy and awareness, as reflected in active participation and practical questions regarding household food management. Radio-based education proved to be an effective medium for reaching a broad audience and encouraging reflection on the crucial role of families in maintaining food stability. This activity contributes to strengthening local food security and supports sustainable development efforts at the community level.
