Abstract

Starbucks a global coffee company and a giant in the coffee industry, has faced significant challenges impacting its business and trade activities worldwide due to being a target of boycott movements arising from the Israel-Palestine conflict. These boycotts, highly prevalent on social media, have led to a decline in Starbucks' profits globally, particularly in Indonesia. Despite the widespread boycott movements, some consumers continue to patronize Starbucks and choose it as their coffee destination. This study aims to explore how consumers perceive the Starbucks brand and identify the factors influencing their decision to continue choosing Starbucks amid the boycotts. The research employs a mixed-methods research (MMR) approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods, utilizing surveys, observations, in-depth interviews, and secondary data analysis such as documents and supporting information. The selection of respondents and informants was conducted purposefully based on specific criteria. The findings reveal that Starbucks Dprima's consumers are predominantly individuals seeking a comfortable space to complete academic or professional tasks. The factors driving their continued patronage include the comfort and satisfaction they experience, along with the appealing facilities and services provided by Starbucks. The consumers' views on the boycott are generally neutral or opposed, as they believe clearer and more comprehensive information is necessary before accepting boycott-related claims. Additionally, personal consumer perspectives on the boycott issue play a key role in their decision to continue visiting and choosing Starbucks Dprima.

Abstract

The U.S.–India Civil Nuclear Agreement, signed in 2008, marked a significant turning point in India's nuclear development. This landmark agreement ended decades of international isolation for India’s civilian nuclear program, enabling access to global nuclear technology and fuel markets. By fostering collaboration with major nuclear suppliers, the deal aimed to boost India's nuclear energy capacity while reinforcing its non-proliferation commitments. This study aims to show that the U.S.–India Civil Nuclear Agreement plays a crucial role in the development of domestic energy capacity by increasing nuclear energy capacity, while also enhancing India's global status by strengthening its international legitimacy as a country with a peaceful nuclear program free from NPT restrictions. Additionally, the agreement opens access to advanced reactor technology and global markets, strengthens strategic capabilities through dual-use technology, but also presents challenges such as legal barriers, social resistance, and geopolitical risks from neighboring countries.

Abstract

Poverty remains a multifaceted issue with economic, social, political, and cultural dimensions that significantly hinder development, particularly in Baubau City, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. Despite slight fluctuations in poverty rates, persistent structural challenges limit progress in poverty alleviation efforts. This study investigates the local government's role in mitigating poverty through empowerment programs and targeted policies. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected via interviews, observations, and literature reviews, analyzed thematically, and triangulated to ensure validity. The findings highlight the government's regulatory, dynamizing, and facilitative roles, supported by policies like Mayor Regulation (Perwali) of Bau-Bau City Number 13 of 2023. Strategies include reducing the economic burdens of the poor, empowering communities, and developing micro-enterprises. However, challenges such as inconsistent poverty data and infrastructural limitations persist. This study emphasizes the need for sustainable, inclusive approaches to poverty reduction and provides actionable recommendations for refining existing programs.

Abstract

The civil war that erupted in Yemen in 2015 caused the creation of the worst humanitarian crisis in Yemen's history, and this humanitarian crisis is also categorized as the worst humanitarian crisis in the history of modern humanity. The coalition of Arab countries became one of the actors involved in Yemen's civil war after receiving a request for military intervention from President Hadi over the threat of a coup carried out by the Houthis. The coalition of Arab states then carried out a military operation into Yemeni territory aimed at eliminating the threat posed by the Houthis and restoring President Hadi's government as the official government of the Yemeni state. However, the military operation carried out by the coalition of Arab countries is considered the beginning of the worst humanitarian crisis in Yemen's history. This research then aims to analyze the impact of the involvement caused by the coalition of Arab countries on the humanitarian crisis in Yemen's civil war.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the Sub-District leadership style in creating a conducive work culture in Bonebone Sub-District, as well as identify its supporting and inhibiting factors. Using a qualitative approach, data was collected through interviews, observations, and doscumentation. The results showed that the Sub-District head applied a participatory and consultative leadership style as dominant. This style has proven to be effective in building cooperation between staff, increasing motivation, and creating transparent communication. Supporting factors include the provision of facilities and infrastructure, the implementation of regular meetings, and strong team collaboration. On the other hand, the obstacles found include less than optimal work facilities and low motivation and discipline of staff. This study recommends the development of an e-system to improve the efficiency of public services and regular training to strengthen staff competencies. The results of the study are expected to be a reference for leadership development at the Sub-District level, especially in areas with similar characteristics. With a more adaptive and innovative approach, a conducive work culture can be more easily achieved, supporting the improvement of overall organizational performance.
