Abstract

This research focuses on using music as a grammar learning medium without involving other learning elements such as gamification or additional digital technology. This study uses a descriptive quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach. This approach is used to determine the effect of using music on students' interest and learning outcomes in English grammar. The data collected through pre-test and post-test, as well as a questionnaire to measure learning interest. This study used a pretest-posttest control group design with two groups: Experimental Group: Students are taught grammar using music media. Control Group: Students are taught grammar using conventional methods (without music). The result showed that the increase in learning interest was calculated by comparing the average scores of the questionnaire before and after treatment. The results of the analysis showed that the experimental group experienced a greater increase than the control group.

Abstract

Tembe Me'e, a traditional fabric from Donggo, is not only rich in aesthetic and cultural value but also incorporates scientific principles such as natural dyeing, crafting techniques, and physics concepts in its production process. Using an ethnoscience-based approach, this study integrates local wisdom into the science curriculum to enhance students' understanding of scientific concepts while strengthening cultural identity. The research aims to explore the potential of utilizing Tembe Me'e from Donggo as a source of cultural and scientific value in elementary school science education. A qualitative approach was employed, including interviews with a local weaver from Mbawa Village in Donggo and other community members. This method allowed the researchers to deeply understand the meanings and values embedded in Tembe Me'e as part of local cultural heritage. Additionally, a literature study was conducted by gathering various relevant references, such as textbooks, articles, and other resources. Based on interviews with the local weaver, Tembe Me'e is created through traditional processes that utilize natural materials, such as plant-based natural dyes. These processes include spinning, dyeing, and weaving techniques, which can be linked to concepts in natural sciences. The study also discovered that one of the techniques in making Tembe Me'e involves fermentation using parung leaves, which have been proven to help alleviate skin problems in humans. This indicates that discussions about parung leaves in the context of Tembe Me'e (traditional woven fabric) demonstrate that this herbal plant not only has benefits in traditional medicine but can also serve as relevant teaching material for natural science education at the elementary level. Thus, teachers can employ practical approaches, such as encouraging students to observe the leaves, understand their properties, or even practice traditional methods of their application.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the utilization of the school library in enhancing students’ reading interest at SDN Durian, Janapria District, Central Lombok Regency. This research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews with the principal, teachers, librarian, and students, as well as documentation of literacy activities. The findings revealed that the library plays a strategic role as a learning resource center and as an essential facility to foster a reading culture among students. The use of the library was proven to increase students’ learning motivation, independence, and academic achievement. However, several challenges were identified, including limited relevant book collections, a relatively small reading space, and simple library management. To address these issues, the school implemented a Scheduled Literacy Program held three times a week before lessons begin, supported by the principal, teachers, and librarian. This strategy effectively encourages students to develop a consistent reading habit. The impact of library utilization can be seen in students’ improved reading interest, broader knowledge, and better academic performance. Therefore, the school library plays an important role in improving the quality of education in primary schools through the strengthening of sustainable literacy culture.
