Abstract

Mothers whose babies have problems and are cared for separately make mothers feel less confident about breastfeeding because they think about the health of their babies. Lack of confidence in breastfeeding is a factor in the failure to breastfeed. An instrument is needed to assess the breastfeeding process as a nurse's initial step to establish nursing interventions in nursing mothers. Objective: Apply the use of the LATCH instrument as an initial assessment of breastfeeding so that it can assist nurses in arranging nursing interventions. Methods: case study with implementation based on Evidence Based Nursing Practice: LATCH SCORE was applied to three nursing mothers in two hospital. Results: four breastfeeding mothers were assessed by LATCH SCORE and then intervention was carried out in the form of education and counseling for breastfeeding mothers. Conclusion: This intervention is very effective in assessing position and attachment during breastfeeding, thus helping nurses to tailor interventions according to the needs of the mother. Suggestion: it is hoped that the maternity nurse can carry out a LATCH Score assessment to assist in the assessment and arrange interventions according to the needs of nursing mothers.

Valsalva maneuver is non-invasive, non-pharmacological and effective method to reduce pain. The purpose of this literature review is to get an overview of the implementation of valsava manuever on Pain Reduction During IV Cannulation based on empirical studies in the last ten year. The method used in the search for articles is based on the period 2013-2022 through searches from databases such as Pubmed, Proquest, Ebsco, Sciencedirect, google scholar and CINAHL There were seven articles used for the review of this paper. Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition that occurs when the pancreas cannot produce enough insulin to regulate metabolism. Diabetes mellitus cannot be cured, but with good management it can prevent organ damage and failure. Diabetes mellitus has an impact on several aspects, namely: physical health aspects, psychological aspects, social aspects and environmental aspects. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of education on diabetes-friendly tips using audio-visual media on changes in the quality of life of diabetes mellitus patients. This research method is quasi-experimental. A total of 86 diabetes mellitus patients recorded in Abadijaya Village, Sukmajaya District, Depok were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the mean value of quality of life for the audio-visual media group before was 62.26 with SD 17.583 and after 70.26 with SD 16.441. Meanwhile, the mean value of quality of life for the leaflet group before was 61.60 with SD 19.336 and after 62.21 with SD 18.252. The results of statistical tests using the independent t-test showed that the difference in quality of life scores after being given treatment between the intervention group and the control group was p value 0.035 (<0.05). There is a significant influence between education on diabetes-friendly tips using audio-visual media compared to diabetes management education using leaflets in improving the quality of life of diabetes mellitus patients. It is hoped that this research can make educational videos on tips for being friendly with diabetes mellitus as a nursing intervention standard for patients with diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

The prevalence of hypertension is relatively high, and the number still increases by year. Various studies have demonstrated that non-pharmacological methods have been shown capable of lowering blood pressure such as relaxation techniques, and also slow breathing technique. This study aims to determine the effects of relaxation and slow breathing technique (RSBT) on blood pressure level among stage 1 hypertensive older adults. This study utilized quantitative research method and the research design employed in this study is the one group interrupted time series pre-test post-test quasi-experimental design. Two types of instruments were used in this study to gather the pertinent data and information. The researcher utilized the checklist form to record the result of observation. The researcher also utilized biophysiologic instrument to measure to measure the blood pressure level of the participants. The participants of the study were ten (10) male and ten (10) female older adults with stage 1 hypertension who were selected through purposive sampling technique. Repeated-Measures ANOVA and the Post Hoc test was utilizing series of t-test. The result shows that there is a significant difference in the systolic and diastolic blood pressure level among participants before and after the implementation of the RSBT in both initial phase (first week) and reinstituted phase (third week). Prolonging of implementation of RBST would be more powerful to reduce blood pressure level among older adult with stage I hypertension
