Abstract

The phenomenon of pseudo-feminism in Indonesian advertising reflects how narratives of women’s empowerment are often reduced to mere marketing strategies, without bringing about substantial change in the representation of women. Using a qualitative research method with a visual semiotic analysis approach and in-depth interviews with young women as the primary audience, this study reveals the contradiction between progressive verbal messages and visuals that continue to objectify the female body. Findings show that 73% of the analyzed advertisements exhibit a dissonance between feminist narratives and conventional visual imagery, leading to cognitive confusion and psychological pressure on the audience. Moreover, digital participation through social media as a form of resistance to biased representation faces challenges such as unequal access, algorithmic dominance, and the attention economy. The main conclusion of this research highlights the urgency of ethical transformation in advertising practices and the strengthening of digital public spaces that are more democratic and inclusive.

Abstract

The rise of the digital era has made digital marketing strategies a vital component in influencing consumer behavior, including within the Sharia-compliant automotive sector. Dealer Syariah Mobilindo Bogor is one such business that has embraced digital approaches in its marketing activities. However, the effectiveness of these strategies on purchase decisions still requires academic investigation. This study aims to measure the impact of digital marketing on used car purchase decisions at Dealer Syariah Mobilindo Bogor. A quantitative approach was applied by distributing questionnaires to 156 respondents, and data were analyzed using SPSS version 27. The simple linear regression analysis resulted in the equation Y = 8.344 + 0.340X, with a regression coefficient of 0.340, indicating a positive effect. The t-value of 17.580 exceeds the t-table value of 1.975, and the significance level of 0.000 < 0.05 confirms statistical significance. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.667) implies that 66.7% of the variation in purchase decisions is explained by digital marketing, while the correlation coefficient (Beta = 0.817) shows a strong positive relationship. The normality test also confirms that the data are normally distributed. The study concludes that a well-executed digital marketing strategy aligned with Sharia principles significantly influences consumer purchase decisions.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has given rise to the phenomenon of online loans that offer quick access with simple terms. However, this convenience is often abused to meet a consumptive lifestyle, triggering default problems. This study aims to analyze the role  of frugal living (frugal lifestyle) in preventing dependence on online loans by reviewing its relevance in the perspective of Islamic economics. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach through a literature review related to online lending practices, frugal living, and consumption ethics in Islam. The results show that frugal living, which emphasizes prioritizing needs, prudent financial management, and avoiding excessive spending, is able to suppress consumptive behavior and reduce dependence on online loans. This concept is in line with Islamic principles that prohibit excessive use of property. This study concludes that  strengthening frugal living not only serves as a financial sustainability strategy, but is also relevant to Islamic ethics. The academic contribution of this research lies in the integration of the concept of frugal living with the perspective of Islamic economics, while practically recommending a financial literacy policy to increase individual resilience to online loans.

Abstract

The ever-evolving work environment demands companies to adapt to new generations entering the labor market, including Generation Z (Gen Z) born between 1997–2012 and now beginning to dominate the workplace with collaborative, flexible, and technology-savvy characteristics. This study aims to analyze the influence of Gen Z leadership style and work environment on employee performance at PT XYZ, which is transitioning to digital. The research method uses a quantitative approach with 60 respondents through a Likert scale questionnaire, analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that Gen Z leadership style and work environment simultaneously have a significant effect on employee performance (F = 111.79; p < 0.01), with the partial influence of Gen Z leadership style being more dominant (t = 6.30; p < 0.01) than the work environment (t = 2.63; p < 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.8922) indicates that 89.22% of the performance variation can be explained by these two variables, while the remainder is influenced by other factors outside the model. These findings confirm that Gen Z's collaborative, flexible, and technology-based leadership style and comfortable work environment significantly contribute to improved performance, with practical implications for PT XYZ to strengthen leadership strategies and create adaptive work policies in the era of digital transformation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in more depth how IQ, EQ, and SQ intelligence are practiced by Generation Z in supporting the success of their businesses. As is known, Gen Z is close to technology, and has a high entrepreneurial spirit and creativity. This study is expected to provide a holistic understanding and practical recommendations for the development of sustainable young entrepreneurship. This study uses an interpretive paradigm of the ethnomethodology method by examining three informants with different businesses, but focused on Gen Z who started their own business. The results show that the three informants have integrated IQ, EQ, and SQ to develop their businesses through the indexicality of utilizing technology for marketing, one informant did trial and error. In terms of emotional intelligence (EQ), there is an indexicality of support for other Gen Z, maintaining the mental health of the team, and paying attention to concern for their environment. In terms of spiritual intelligence (SQ), there is an indexicality of belief in the provision of sustenance from God, ensuring the halalness of the products sold, charging prices that are not too high for charity to customers.

Abstract

The paradox of the development of the tobacco sector in Pamekasan Regency can be seen from the increase in planting area and productivity from 22.3 thousand hectares in 2023 to 31.1 thousand hectares in 2024 which is not directly proportional to the welfare of farmers. This study aims to analyze the structural and cultural roots that cause asynchrony between production growth and welfare improvement. Using qualitative methods with case study designs, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations in four tobacco center villages, and document analysis. The data was analyzed thematically by combining the Agrarian Political Economy framework, Welfare Theory, and Sustainable Livelihood Framework (SLF). The results of the study show that inequality in the political economy structure including the dominance of middlemen, weak bargaining positions of farmers, ineffective allocation of DBHCHT, and distortion of access to production inputs are the main causes of welfare stagnation. In addition, local cultural factors create a cultural lock-in that reinforces farmers' systemic dependence on traditional marketing networks. These findings indicate the need for policy reforms that are transformative, targeted, and sensitive to socio-cultural dynamics in order to improve the welfare of tobacco farmers in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the existing literature related to the efficiency of general cargo transportation systems as a critical element in strengthening national maritime connectivity. Through this approach, a more comprehensive understanding is expected regarding the contributions, constraints, and factors influencing the effectiveness of general cargo transportation in supporting the smooth distribution of maritime logistics across regions in Indonesia. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach through a literature review. The focus of the analysis is directed toward achieving a comprehensive understanding of the efficiency of general cargo transportation in supporting national maritime connectivity. The reviewed literature is categorized based on several key aspects affecting efficiency, including infrastructure, operational processes, policy, and technology. The findings indicate that the high volume of domestic sea freight, reaching hundreds of millions of tons, demonstrates that maritime transport remains the most dominant mode for large-scale general cargo logistics in Indonesia. The growth in sea freight further reflects an increasing dependence on maritime transportation as the primary mode of inter-island goods distribution. Enhancing national maritime effectiveness can be achieved through several key indicators, including the efficiency of customs services, competitive pricing structures, the provision of high-quality logistics services, increased port infrastructure capacity, service diversification, and accelerated service completion times.

Abstract

The global shipping sector is undergoing a fundamental digital transformation, adopting technologies like Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS), big data, and electronic navigation, which promise substantial gains in operational efficiency and safety. Nevertheless, the rapid pace of technological innovation has outpaced the adaptivity of conventional maritime legal frameworks, historically focused on physical safety (SOLAS, STCW) and traditional price competition (e.g., shipping conferences). This research aims to analyze the regulatory developments explicitly addressing maritime digitalization and assess their impact on modern shipping practices. Employing a normative legal research method with content analysis of international instruments (IMO, UNCLOS) and regional policies (EU), the study identifies four critical findings. First, maritime safety has mandatorily expanded to include cyber risk management through IMO Resolution MSC.428(98). Second, competition challenges have shifted from price cartels to the threat of data monopolies controlled by digital platforms. Third, MASS regulation faces serious legal ambiguity concerning liability and jurisdiction under old conventions (COLREGs, STCW). Fourth, there is a major urgency to establish a global data governance framework to overcome legal fragmentation. The implications of these findings highlight the necessity for rapid global standard harmonization and the adoption of proactive, technology-neutral regulation to ensure the shipping sector remains secure, efficient, and competitive in the digital era.

Abstract

The resolution of disputes in sharia-based economic activities has become an urgent need in line with the rapid development of Islamic finance and business practices in Indonesia. Arbitration is regarded as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism that is more effective than conventional litigation because it offers a process that is fast, flexible, confidential, and capable of ensuring compliance with sharia principles. This article discusses the concept of arbitration from the perspective of Islamic economic law, including its definition, fundamental principles, and its differences from conventional judicial mechanisms. In addition, this article analyzes the duties and authorities of sharia arbitration institutions, particularly in issuing final and binding decisions. To demonstrate its effectiveness, this study presents a case study of sharia economic dispute resolution through arbitration and identifies the factors contributing to its success. The findings show that arbitration plays a strategic role as a dispute resolution forum that not only provides legal certainty but also preserves the integrity of sharia muamalah principles. This article recommends strengthening sharia arbitration institutions, enhancing the competence of arbitrators, and optimizing outreach regarding arbitration mechanisms to sharia business actors so that dispute resolution in the Islamic economic sector can be more effective and just.
