Abstract

ABSTRACT Malnutrition in toddlers is still a significant public health problem at the global and national levels. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors (PHBS) in the household environment and the incidence of malnutrition in toddlers in the working area of the Batunadua Health Center. Methods: This study used an analytical quantitative design with a cross sectional study approach. The population and sample are all toddlers registered in the Batunadua Health Center area. Data were collected using questionnaires and weight measurements of toddlers based on the BB/U index. Data analysis was conducted using the chi-square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. There was a relationship between the history of exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of malnutrition (p=0.001), there was a relationship between diet and the incidence of malnutrition (p=0.018). There was no association between immunization history (p=0.128) and handwashing habit with soap (p=0.072) with the incidence of malnutrition in toddlers. It was found that exclusive breastfeeding and diet were significantly related to the incidence of malnutrition in toddlers. Immunization and soap hand washing habits did not show a significant relationship in this study. So it is necessary to increase nutritional literacy for families under five. Keywords: PHBS; malnutrition; news; exclusive breast milk; diet.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Wasting is one of the public health nutrition problems in developing countries including South Asia, Africa, and Indonesia. This condition can lead to an increased risk of death in children under five years of age and affect their physical and cognitive development. Research shows that in addition to nutritional factors, the role of the family, including parenting, feeding, and social support, plays a significant role in preventing and overcoming wasting in children. This systematic literature review aims to explore the role of families in wasting prevention in children, focusing on factors that may influence the incidence of wasting. This study used a systematic literature review (SLR) approach by searching for relevant articles from various academic databases such as scopus. The selected articles analyzed family factors that contribute to the occurrence of wasting in children, including the role of mothers, parental education, household economic status, and the role of social support. Data were collected from various surveys and studies in countries with high prevalence of wasting, including countries in South Asia and Africa. The results of the analysis showed that family factors such as the mother's education level, nutritional knowledge, good parenting, and access to health facilities played a significant role in the prevention of wasting in children. In addition, families with low socio-economic status and limited access to clean water and poor sanitation are more at risk of wasting events. Some effective family-based interventions include providing nutrition education to parents, supplemental feeding programs, and increased social support for high-risk families. The role of the family is very important in the prevention of wasting in children, especially through the improvement of parenting behavior and nutritious feeding. Wasting prevention programs need to actively involve families by providing nutrition education, as well as providing adequate social support and health facilities. Multisectoral interventions involving the health, sanitation, and education sectors must be strengthened to achieve more effective reduction in the prevalence of wasting. Keywords: prevention of wasting, role, family, children, social support, parenting behavior

Abstract

ABSTRACT Digital transformation drives the use of health information systems to integrate clinical, administrative, and operational data. In Indonesia, diverse infrastructure, administrative models, and workforce competencies pose challenges to electronic medical records (EMR) implementation. This study aims to analyze EMR adoption and its implications for strengthening the competence of Health Information and Medical Record (HIMR) professionals in Indonesia’s digital transformation era. A systematic literature review was conducted using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis) protocol. The review followed four stages: identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion. A total of 180 articles were initially retrieved from electronic databases, including Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and Garuda Kemdikbud. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 21 studies were selected for the final analysis. Findings highlight variations in EMR effectiveness, HIMR competence, data ethics and security, and technical and organizational barriers. EMR improves efficiency and accuracy of clinical documentation, yet competence development is limited by disparities in digital literacy and regulatory understanding. Strengthening advanced authentication, infrastructure standardization, and standard operating procedure is essential to enhance HIMR technical and managerial capacity for sustainable system integration. Abstract

Introduction: Non-adherence among patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) undergoing hemodialysis has been reported to range from 10% to nearly 60% and may lead to acute and chronic complications, reduced quality of life, and increased mortality risk. Variations in previous findings indicate that factors influencing adherence require further investigation within specific local contexts. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with adherence among hemodialysis patients at Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo General Hospital, Makassar. Methods: This study employed a quantitative cross-sectional design and was conducted at the hemodialysis unit of Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo General Hospital, Makassar, involving 103 patients selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through structured interviews using validated questionnaires and review of medical records. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test and Fisher’s Exact Test. Ethical approval was obtained from the Health Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Public Health, Hasanuddin University (Approval Number: 3500/UN4.14.1/TP.01.02/2024). Results: The analysis showed significant associations between age (p=0.032), family support (p=0.025), and self-efficacy (p=0.025) with hemodialysis adherence. No significant associations were found between sex (p=0.447), education level (p=0.916), duration of hemodialysis (p=0.738), and anxiety level (p=0.738) with adherence. Self-efficacy was identified as the most strongly associated factor with patient adherence. Conclusion: Age, family support, and self-efficacy were significantly associated with hemodialysis adherence. These findings highlight the importance of psychosocial approaches, particularly strengthening self-efficacy and family support, in improving adherence among hemodialysis patients. Future research should employ longitudinal designs to better explore causal relationships.

Abstract

Type II diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by insulin resistance and/or decreased insulin secretion that causes an increase in blood glucose levels. Consumption of foods with a high glycemic index is known to contribute to increased blood sugar levels. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the consumption of foods with a high glycemic index and blood sugar levels in type II DM patients in the working area of the Baiturrahman Health Center, Banda Aceh City. This study uses an analytical descriptive design with  a cross-sectional approach  which was carried out in January–November 2024, with a sample of 42 respondents. Food consumption data was obtained through  the  3×24-hour food recall method, while blood sugar levels were measured using a glucometer by health workers. Data analysis was carried out using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most patients who ate foods with a low glycemic index had normal blood sugar levels (94.2%), while patients who ate foods with a high glycemic index tended to have high blood sugar levels (76%). The results of the statistical test showed a value of p = 0.003 (p < 0.05), which means that there is a statistically significant relationship between the consumption of foods with a high glycemic index and blood sugar levels in patients with type II DM. It was concluded that the consumption of foods with a high glycemic index was significantly related to an increase in blood sugar levels at the time. Therefore, glycemic index-based dietary arrangements are important in the control of type II DM.
