Abstract

Students as the nation’s next generation are expected to master information literacy, but unfortunately, false information is still circulating even though there is a preventive program such as “Gerakan Literasi Sekolah” (or School Literacy Movement). This study aims to describe the initial profile of students’ information literacy in the global era to prepare for the implementation of the national assessment. The subjects of the study were 105 Vocational High School (SMK) students in the Bululawang District. Quantitative descriptive research was conducted to map students’ information literacy skills. The study found that the average result for students’ information literacy skill was in the category of needing special intervention with a score of 34.4. Furthermore, there was no significant difference between the information literacy skill of male and female students. Moreover, the students’ information literacy skill was divided into three categories, i.e.: 1) need special intervention (62.9%), 2) basic (30.5%), and 3) proficient (6.7%). The lack of information literacy skill was resulted from their tendency to use assumptions or intuition rather than absorbing and managing the information. Based on these data, it is essential to improve the quality of students’ literacy skills by improving the facilities, programs, and evaluation of the School Literacy Movement.

Abstract

A good implementation of Process Standard is a part of the effort to improve the quality of learning process. In Permendikbudristek No. 16 of 2022 regarding Process Standard, it is stated that learning is done in an interactive, inspiring, enjoyable, challenging and motivating environment for students. This type of learning had actually been initiated in the 2013 Curriculum through a scientific approach which proposes several learning models, namely discovery/inquiry learning and problem-based learning; such as problem-based learning (PBL) and project-based learning (PjBL). Therefore, this study aims to analyze the scientific approach in Biology learning as an implementation of Process Standard in Jakartan High Schools. Furthermore, this study used quantitative and qualitative methods as its approach. It found that teachers had implemented the scientific approach in their classrooms. However, results from students' perceptions showed the opposite. They stated that teachers did not effectively do “hands-on” activities through discovery/inquiry and PjBL. Moreover, this study suggests that the implementation of the Process Standard that have been effectively applied since the 2013 Curriculum needs to be maintained in Kurikulum Merdeka (in English: Emancipated Curriculum) because it is still relevant with the goals of Emancipated Curriculum. Finally, the findings of this study should be addressed so it can improve the implementation of Process Standard in the Emancipated Curriculum.

Abstract

Honorary teachers are recruited to address the shortage of teachers in public schools, but the recruitment appears to be poorly planned. This hasty recruitment process results in inefficiency in the management and development of these honorary teachers. This qualitative research aims to describe and analyze the management of honorary teachers to support the optimization of school performance in primary education. This research used two methods of data collection, which are focus group discussions (FGD) and questionnaire. The data from the FGD were collected from honorary teachers and headmasters from several schools in West Java and Banten. And the data from the questionnaire were collected from 2.831 honorary teahers in Indonesa. The analyses on honorary teacher’s issues were related to: (i) staff planning, (ii) recruitment process, (iii) career development; and (v) competence, performance, and welfare. From the analysis, the research recommended: (i) the staff planning and recruitment process should be managed directly by the regional education office, (ii) in recruiting honorary teachers to become government employees with a work agreement, it is best to apply affirmative rules that provide a sense of fairness, (iii) it is best to mention teachers’ names when inviting them to self-development activities in orderto prevent the principals from sending only civil servant teachers, (iv) the government needs to thoroughly consider the welfare of the honorary teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of relevance between the Building Engineering Education study program curriculum in the State University of Jakarta (UNJ), and the competency of Building Design and Information Modeling expertise program in Vocational High Schools (SMK) in ”Kurikulum Merdeka” (Emancipated Curriculum). The objects of the study are the Kurikulum Merdeka guidelines, Semester Lesson Plan for the Building Engineering Education study program, and document on Learning Outcomes for the Building Design and Information Modeling expertise program. The method used in this research was descriptive quantitative. The data were collected through literature review, documentation, and interviews. The data were analyzed by assessing the percentage of each competency or learning element in the expertise program. Then, the results were categorized according to the relevance level, which were divided into very relevant, quite relevant, and irrelevant. The result found that overall; the curriculum of the Building Engineering Education study program is very relevant to the competency of Building Design and Information Modeling expertise program with a correlation of 80.77%.

Abstract

Based on the current age composition of the population, Indonesia is predicted to get a demographic bonus from 2030 to 2040. However, the phenomenon of adolescent deviance, such as ‘klitih’, drugs abuse, cyberbullying, promiscuity, and so on, might continue to be a persistent problem in the future. Parents are one of the most important agents in nurturing positive characters. Therefore, this study tried to examine what parents can do to strengthen positive characters in teenagers and avert them from deviant behavior or juvenile delinquency. This study used literature review as the method of the research. This study found that parents’ roles should include: ensure that adolescents can go through their developmental phases well; understand adolescent psychology; and be a good role model for teenagers. Furthermore, they need to develop the 3 dimensions of character, which are moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action. Moreover, they need to apply the appropriate parenting styles according to the needs of their teenagers. Meanwhile, to optimize children’s potential, parents are expected to implement the multiple intelligences approach in their children’s education. Cooperation with various parties, especially schools, is needed to ensure these efforts run effectively.

Abstract

This research tries to evaluate the efficiency of the vocational school distribution by examining the supply-demand pattern of vocational school graduates at the national and regional levels in Indonesia using employment, underemployment, and wage level as the indicators. We use the recent data of the Indonesian National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) and Core Educational Data (Dapodik) to conduct statistical analysis assessing the vocational school graduates. The result indicates that vocational school graduates’ odds to get a job is generally better than the high school graduates. However, the study finds that high school graduates get higher wage level compared to vocational school graduates. Moreover, there is a different pattern of enrolment of the vocational study program in different regions. The results also suggest that job training with a certificate has a better effect on higher earnings than graduating vocational schools. The result can be considered as a valuable input in the form of policy recommendation to recalculate which study program that is needed in which region and providing alternatives to take job-training as a strategy to boost workers wage level.

Abstract

Jurnal Penelitian Kebijakan Pendidikan (JPKP) Edisi Kedua Volume 15 tahun 2022 ini berisikan 6 (enam) artikel dengan topik beragam di bidang pendidikan. Enam topik tersebut antara lain mengenai pembelajaran Biologi SMA/MA di Jabodetabek ditinjau dari Standar Proses, relevansi kurikulum jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Bangunan UNJ terhadap kompetensi program keahlian Desain Pemodelan dan Informasi Bangunan di SMK, peran SMK pada perkembangan pasar tenaga kerja di Indonesia, kemampuan penting abad 21 dan pemetaannya di sekolah dalam menghadapi Asesmen Nasional, permasalahan pengelolaan guru honorer pada jenjang pendidikan dasar, dan peran orang tua dalam mencegah perilaku menyimpang pada anak melalui penguatan karakter dan optimalisasi potensi anak. Artikel pertama tentang pembelajaran Biologi SMA/MA di Jabodetabek ditinjau dari Standar Proses ditulis oleh Dina Rahma Fadlilah dan Yanti Herlanti. Implementasi Standar Proses yang baik merupakan salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan mutu proses pembelajaran. Dalam Permendikbudristek No. 16 Tahun 2022 tentang Standar Proses, disebutkan bahwa pelaksanaan pembelajaran diselenggarakan dalam suasana belajar yang interaktif, inspiratif, menyenangkan, menantang, dan memotivasi peserta didik. Pembelajaran yang demikian sebenarnya sudah mulai diinisiasi dalam Kurikulum 2013 melalui pendekatan saintifik, yaitu pembelajaran berbasis pemecahan masalah. Pelaksanaan Standar Proses yang telah berjalan baik dari Kurikulum 2013 layak dipertahankan pada Kurikulum Merdeka, karena masih sejalan dengan tujuan kurikulum yang baru. Adapun kekurangan yang ditemukan pada penelitian ini dapat menjadi masukan agar implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka menjadi lebih baik. Artikel kedua berjudul Relevansi Kurikulum Pendidikan Teknik Bangunan UNJ terhadap Kompetensi SMK Desain Pemodelan dan Informasi Bangunan ditulis oleh Febby Fraharyani, dkk. Objek penelitian ini yaitu dokumen Kurikulum Merdeka, Rencana Pembelajaran Semester (RPS) Mata Kuliah Program Studi Pendidikan Teknik Bangunan, dan dokumen Capaian Pembelajaran Program Keahlian Desain Pemodelan dan Informasi Bangunan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara keseluruhan kurikulum Program Studi Pendidikan Teknik Bangunan UNJ sangat relevan terhadap kompetensi SMK Program Keahlian Desain Pemodelan dan Informasi Bangunan pada Kurikulum Merdeka, dengan hasil keterkaitan sebesar 80,77%. Artikel ketiga tentang Sinkronisasi Pasar Tenaga Kerja: Analisis Peran SMK pada Perkembangan Pasar Tenaga Kerja di Indonesia ditulis oleh Goldy Dharmawan dan Wisnu Harto Adi Wijoyo. Penelitian ini mengukur efisiensi distribusi sekolah kejuruan melalui pola permintaan-penawaran lulusan SMK di tingkat nasional dan daerah di Indonesia dengan indikator lapangan kerja, status setengah pengangguran, dan tingkat upah. Dengan menggunakan Survei Angkatan Kerja Nasional Indonesia (Sakernas) dan Data Pokok Pendidikan (Dapodik) hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peluang lulusan SMK untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan umumnya lebih baik dibandingkan lulusan SMA, namun dengan tingkat upah yang lebih rendah. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar pemerintah mengkaji kembali program studi apa yang dibutuhkan di daerah tertentu serta memberikan alternatif untuk mengikuti pelatihan kerja sebagai strategi untuk mendongkrak tingkat upah pekerja. ditulis oleh Simon Sili Sabon. Analisis terhadap guru honorer dilakukan terkait: (i) perencanaan kebutuhan, (ii) proses rekrutmen, (iii) pengembangan karier, serta (iv) kompetensi, kinerja, dan kesejahteraan. Rekomendasi yang diusulkan berdasarkan hasil analisis terutama berfokus pada peningkatan kesejahteraan guru honorer, pemerataan kesempatan dalam peningkatan kompetensi, serta pemenuhan hak guru honorer. Artikel kelima berjudul Literasi Informasi: Kemampuan Penting Abad 21 dan Pemetaannya di Sekolah dalam Menghadapi Asesmen Nasional ditulis oleh Zainul Mustofa. Penelitian ini melihat bagaimana profil awal literasi informasi siswa di era global sebagai persiapan pelaksanaan Asesmen Nasional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas siswa masuk dalam kategori “perlu intervensi khusus” (62,9%) dengan rata-rata kemampuan literasi informasi berada di nilai 34,4. Penelitian juga menyimpulkan bahwa para siswa lebih menggunakan anggapan atau intuisinya daripada mengelola informasi yang diberikan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan adanya upaya peningkatan kualitas literasi siswa dalam bentuk peningkatan fasilitas, program, dan evaluasi terhadap Gerakan Literasi Sekolah. Artikel terakhir tentang Peran Orang Tua dalam Mencegah Perilaku Menyimpang pada Anak dengan Penguatan Karakter dan Optimalisasi Potensi Anak ditulis oleh Yeni Mulati. Indonesia diprediksi memiliki potensi bonus demografi pada tahun 2030 hingga 2040, namun pada saat yang sama kasus kenakalan remaja dan perilaku menyimpang juga masih menjadi permasalahan. Orang tua sebagai agen penting dalam pembentukan karakter anak diharapkan dapat berperan dalam membantu remaja memenuhi tugas-tugas perkembangannya; memahami psikologi remaja; menjadi role model yang baik untuk remaja, serta mengembangkan 3 dimensi karakter, yaitu moral knowing, moral feeling, dan moral action; dan menerapkan pola asuh yang tepat sesuai kebutuhan anak. Untuk mengoptimalkan potensi anak, orang tua dapat menerapkan pendidikan di dalam rumah dengan pendekatan kecerdasan majemuk. Semoga apa yang disajikan dalam jurnal edisi kedua ini dapat menjadi referensi dan rujukan, terutama bagi para praktisi dan pemerhati dunia pendidikan, serta pihak-pihak yang berkepentingan dalam pengambilan kebijakan di bidang pendidikan.
