Abstract

This research aims to examine the meaning and process of cultural communication in the implementation of the yadnya kasada ceremony carried out by the Tengger people in the Sukapura area, Probolinggo Regency. This ceremony is a sacred tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation and is an important part of the cultural identity of the Tengger Tribe. The research method uses qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The results showed that the meaning of the yadnya kasada ceremony message communicated by the tengger tribe community by expressing gratitude to God Almighty in a series of rituals and the process of inheriting the meaning of the yadnya kadasa ceremony in the tengger tribe community. The values communicated by the people of the Tengger tribe at the yadnya kasada ceremony are divided into 3 namely social, cultural and religious values. These findings reinforce the importance of preserving traditions as a means of cultural communication that plays a role in strengthening the collective identity of indigenous peoples

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the representation of sadness in the video clip “Lagu Duka” by Payung Teduh. The research method uses media text analysis of Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis model, focusing on Barthes' three stages of analysis, namely denotation, connotation, and myth as a form of cultural meaning contained in the sign. This research approach uses critical analysis. The results show that sadness is represented through visual symbols such as dark colors, gloomy facial expressions, slow motion, and the use of objects that imply loss and emptiness. So that it feels the grief that is being experienced, the guilt that is being felt, the hopes that are not realized and the deep sense of disappointment. At the mythical level, sadness in this video is not only interpreted as a personal emotion, but as a reflection of collective grief and the bitterness of life.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the engagement rate and TikTok content strategy used by Tasya Farasya as a beauty influencer, and relate it to the validation of the digital marketing communication model. This research uses the media text analysis method. This research aims to explore the engagement rate and TikTok content strategy used by Tasya Farasya as a beauty influencer, and relate it to the validation of the digital marketing communication model. The results showed that the content strategy applied included personal branding, utilization of TikTok trends, storytelling, active interaction with followers, and consistency of visual editing. Meanwhile, the engagement rate managed to increase to 3.73%, with an average of 156.5 thousand likes, 1,000 comments, and 2.1 million viewers per content. This figure is classified in the high engagement category. The high engagement rate is proven to be in accordance with the application of elements from the digital marketing communication model, such as source credibility, message suitability, and platform selection.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the Start with Simple Stories (SSS) method in enhancing vocabulary attainment among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students. The research was conducted at SMP Plus Al-Islamiyah VII Al Batani in Tangerang Selatan, using a quasi-experimental design involving two groups of eighth-grade students. The experimental group received vocabulary instruction through the SSS method, while the control group was taught using conventional techniques. Pre-test and post-test vocabulary assessments were administered to both groups. Statistical analysis, including ANCOVA, was employed to determine the significance of the treatment effect. The findings revealed that the SSS method had a significant positive effect on students’ vocabulary mastery, highlighting the potential of extensive reading-based strategies in EFL classrooms.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the communication patterns between leaders and employees at the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in Surabaya and to identify the leadership style applied by the head of the BNN in Surabaya. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive research with data collection conducted through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and relevant documentation. The results of the study show that the communication pattern between leaders and employees at the Surabaya City BNN is formal and structured, utilizing digital media such as WhatsApp as the main means of communication. This communication pattern plays a very important role in supporting effective coordination and increasing the overall productivity and performance of the organization. In addition, this study also reveals that the leadership style applied by the head of the Surabaya City BNN includes a structured communication style, an egalitarian style, and a delegative style. These styles are able to create a conducive work atmosphere and support the optimal achievement of organizational goals

Abstract

This study aims to examine communication patterns and barriers within the Dayamaka batik community in Gesikharjo Village, Palang District, Tuban Regency.  The research method used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the communication patterns in the Dayamaka batik community use primary communication patterns, vertical and horizontal communication patterns, the use of digital communication media, and communication patterns based on cultural values and local traditions. Meanwhile, the communication barriers that occur in the Dayamaka batik community are differences in the level of understanding and communication skills, limited access to technology and the internet, and social and cultural factors in communication. This study recommends improving communication and digital literacy and strengthening cultural values as efforts to improve communication effectiveness within the Dayamaka batik community.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the role of organizational culture in encouraging student learning motivation at SMK Negeri 5 Bone. This study uses qualitative research with a management approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained were then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that there are three roles of organizational culture in encouraging student learning motivation at SMK Negeri 5 Bone, namely  (1) The role of organizational culture, which consists of cultural values, norms, and organizational cultural habits, has an impact on school achievement. (2) Motivation, both intrinsic and extrinsic, plays an important role in shaping students' learning attitudes and behavior. Teachers emphasize that intrinsic motivation provides a strong drive, making students more enthusiastic and persistent in facing learning challenges. Extrinsic rewards, such as praise or physical gifts, can encourage student motivation. (3) The application of positive culture, learning culture, as well as social support and collaboration as the role of organizational culture in encouraging student learning motivation

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the patterns of interpersonal communication exhibited by introverted students at the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication, Sunan Ampel State Islamic University (UINSA) Surabaya.  This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of a number of informants who had been identified as having introverted personalities. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pola komunikasi interpersonal mahasiswa introvert ditandai dengan kecenderungan memilih komunikasi dalam kelompok kecil, selektif dalam membangun hubungan, serta lebih mengandalkan komunikasi nonverbal dan reflektif. Meskipun cenderung tertutup, mahasiswa introvert tetap mampu menjalin komunikasi yang efektif dalam konteks akademik dan sosial apabila didukung oleh lingkungan yang mendukung dan tidak menekan. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan strategi komunikasi di lingkungan kampus yang inklusif terhadap berbagai tipe kepribadian.

Abstract

Social media has become a strategic tool for conveying sustainability messages in a massive and interactive way. This study aims to analyze and assess the educational content campaign on reducing plastic waste through the Instagram account @Aksikitaindonesia. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through content observation, semi-structured interviews with account managers, and analysis of user interaction (engagement) with posts on the theme of plastic waste reduction education. The results of the study show that consistent, informative, and visually appealing educational campaigns can increase audience awareness and participation in movements to reduce single-use plastics. Positive interactions such as comments, reposts, and an increase in followers are indicators of the success of such campaign communications.

Abstract

Tour guides, as the spearhead of direct interaction with tourists, play an important role in supporting the advancement of local tourism. This study aims to examine the communication strategies implemented by tour guides in the development of the Tumpak Sewu Waterfall tourist destination in Sidomulyo Village, Pronojiwo District, Lumajang Regency. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that there are three main communication strategies implemented by tour guides: (1) Communication strategy through social media, which is carried out by consistently sharing informative content and tourism promotions to attract tourists; (2) Communication strategy through cooperation, namely establishing synergy with local businesses, village governments, and nature lover communities to strengthen the tourism ecosystem; and (3) Communication strategy through changing people's mindset, which aims to build awareness and active participation of the local community in preserving the environment and providing the best service to tourists
