Abstract

Early childhood education is a crucial initial stage in developing knowledge, attitudes, and skills. One way to instill an understanding of local culture from an early age is through the introduction of traditional foods. This study aimed to introduce Pudak, a traditional Gresik food, to students at RA Raden Paku Kedamean as a means of broadening their knowledge and preserving the culture. The method used was thematic learning through storytelling, direct observation, and simple practical exercises. The results showed that the children gained a better understanding of the characteristics of local food, learned about the basic ingredients of pudak, and fostered pride in their regional culture. Therefore, this study confirms that introducing traditional foods can be an effective learning strategy and a means of cultural preservation for the younger generation

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to strengthen the capacity, creativity, and economic independence of women engaged in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Kalirungkut Village, Surabaya. The program was implemented through an intensive one-month mentoring initiative focusing on product innovation, packaging quality improvement, and the enhancement of simple digital marketing strategies through social media platforms. A participatory approach was employed, positioning participants as active contributors throughout all stages of the program, including needs assessment, training, practical implementation, and evaluation. The results indicate significant improvements in participants’ ability to develop more competitive product variations, enhance packaging design and quality, and utilize digital platforms as effective tools for promotion and marketing. Furthermore, the program increased participants’ self-confidence in managing their businesses, fostered collaborative networks among MSME actors, and improved their understanding of basic business management and financial administration. The positive impacts were reflected not only in the increased added value and marketability of products but also in the growth of entrepreneurial spirit and economic self-reliance among women in urban communities. Overall, the program contributed to strengthening women’s economic empowerment through the development of more innovative, adaptive, and sustainable MSMEs. In the future, similar mentoring models can be replicated and expanded to other MSME groups to support the creation of a more inclusive, competitive, and sustainable local economic ecosystem.

Abstract

Technological advancement in the Society 5.0 era has created both opportunities and challenges in education, particularly in the development of students' religious character. The extensive use of technology needs to be balanced with the strengthening of religious values so that students can utilize digital technology wisely and responsibly. This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to empower schools in strengthening students' religious character through Islamic Religious Education (IRE) in the Society 5.0 era. The program was implemented at MI Tarbiyatul Muta’allimin Gresik and involved fifth- and sixth-grade students as the primary participants. A participatory approach was employed through several stages, namely observation, planning, program implementation, mentoring, and evaluation. The activities included mentoring Islamic Religious Education learning through interactive media, habituation of daily prayers and Asmaul Husna recitation, guidance in ablution and congregational prayer practices, Islamic etiquette education, and the utilization of Islamic educational videos as learning media. The results indicated an increase in students’ enthusiasm for participating in Islamic Religious Education learning, improved understanding of proper worship practices, the development of religious habits in daily life, and greater awareness of the positive use of digital technology. Furthermore, teachers and school administrators responded positively to the program as it contributed to the development of a more religious school culture. Therefore, school empowerment through Islamic Religious Education can serve as an effective strategy for strengthening students’ religious character while preparing them to face the challenges of the Society 5.0 era.
