Abstract

This study investigated teachers' barriers when providing English for Specific Purposes (ESP) instruction to airline staff students at a private high school. The research methodology used in this examination was qualitative, adopting a case study approach. The current study employed a purposive sampling strategy to recruit two English for Specific Purposes (ESP) teachers who instruct Airline Staff in English as participants. The data were gathered through interviews and then evaluated and presented in a descriptive manner using theme analysis. The study unveiled that educators experienced diverse obstacles when instructing English for Specific Purposes (ESP). The problems included: a) the requirement for a proper textbook tailored to the specific discipline, b) the build-up of English language practice among students, and c) the necessity for more vocabulary relevant to their academic field

Abstract

Learning in Far-flung area is never easy for students to run out their semester-period for over time. Indeed, Covid-19 outbreak limited them to directly learning in face-to-face mode, moreover, the internet access tried to support distance-learning. On the contrary, the students were challenging to link with the internet connection because of the signal, however, they need to struggle out with this unprecedented covid-19 outbreak. Using a qualitative research method, three students who lived in far-flung area were interviewed and the interviews were transcribed verbatim, then analyzed by using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA).This study describes the process of the students- struggles, students-adaptation, and the implication for future distance-learning that will be discussed.

Abstract

Abstrak Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengexplorasi bagaiamana perkembangan  kemampuan bahasa pada anak usia 4-5tahun dengan penerapan metode bercerita.  Metode penelitian menggunakan jenis kualitatif dan pendekatan studi kasus. Partisipaan penelitian berjumlah 12, yang teridri dari guru dan siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi, dan analisa data menggunakan analisa miles huberman. Hasil penelitian diperoleh temuan bahwa penerapan metode bercerita dalam mengembangkan kemampuan bahasa anak sangat berpengaruh terhadap perkembangan bahasa anak yang terlihat dari perkembangan signifikan yang berkembang sangat baik. Kami merekomendasikan agar guru lebih memperhatikan dan menambah ide-ide kreatif ketika bercerita sehingga anak mampu berkembang secara optimal. Selain itu, perlu dukungan berupa fasilitas,  perbanyakan  buku cerita dan media yang dapat membantu mengembangkan aspek bahasa anak. Abstact This study aims to explore how the development of language skills in children aged 4-5 years by applying the storytelling method for . The research method uses a qualitative type and a case study approach. The research participants numbered 12, consisting of teachers and students. Data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation, and data analysis using Miles Huberman analysis. The results of the study found that the application of the storytelling method in developing children's language skills greatly influences the development of children's language as seen from significant developments that have developed very well. We recommend that teachers pay more attention and add creative ideas when telling stories so that children can develop optimally. In addition, support is needed in the form of facilities, the increase in story books and media that can help develop children's language aspects.
