Abstract

Introduction: Stunting, a condition where toddlers have a height significantly below the normal for their age, remains a serious issue in Indonesia, including the city of Surakarta. This has serious implications for a child's physical and cognitive development. Factors contributing to stunting are divided into direct factors (maternal nutrition, feeding practices, exclusive breastfeeding) and indirect factors (healthcare, education, environmental sanitation). Addressing stunting requires the involvement of healthcare professionals and community health volunteers. Effective training is crucial to enable kader to play a significant role in this effort.Method: This community engagement introduces the Siganting Program, a mobile application designed for stunting prevention. The program was presented to healthcare professionals and kader in Surakarta through lectures and discussions. Pre- and post-tests were used to assess participants' understanding of the program.Results: The Siganting Program successfully increased participants' understanding of stunting prevention. Before the program introduction, the average pre-test score was 76.4%, while the post-test showed 100% comprehension among participants.Conclusion: The Siganting Program is a valuable tool for stunting prevention and management, especially for mothers with infants under two years old. It can help Surakarta move closer to its goal of reducing stunting prevalence to zero. This mobile application provides accessible and flexible support for mothers and has been well-received by healthcare professionals and kader. The use of technology like Siganting can assist in achieving a significant reduction in stunting rates in Surakarta and its surrounding areas.

Abstract

children are valuable assets of the nation whose physical, mental, and social health must be preserved. Orphanges play a crucial role in providing care and protection, yet they often face challenges related to health facilities and nutrition education. This community service activity aimed to enhance the understanding and awareness of orphanage children regarding the importance of health check-ups. The methods included basic health ecaminations (Body Mass Index, vital signs, and dental check ups), interactive personal education, and recreational activities such as drawing and decorating fruit salads. The activity was conducted with 19 children and early adolescent at Pucang Kerep, Surabaya, in June 2025. Results showed that most children had normal vital signs, 68,4% had normal mutritional status, 21,1% were obese, 5,3% overweight, and 5,3% undernourished. Additionally, 78,9% experienced dental caries, and three early adolescent girls had irregular menstrual cycles consistent with the initial menarche phase. Recreational activities also supported mental health and encouraged healthy lifestyle motivation. Regular health monitoring and the cultivation of clean and healthy living habits are recommended to improve the physical and psychological well being of orphanage children.

Abstract

Community empowerment is an effective approach in preventing and addressing health issues in children, such as stunting and dental caries. The transcultural care-based behavioral model offers a holistic approach by incorporating local cultural values into health interventions. This study aims to explore and implement a community empowerment model based on transcultural care to prevent stunting and dental caries in young children. The method used involves active community participation in health education, awareness programs, and initiatives that engage cultural leaders and healthcare professionals. The results show that a culturally sensitive approach increases community acceptance and participation in health programs, significantly contributing to the reduction of stunting and dental caries in children. In conclusion, the transcultural care model can be an effective strategy for empowering communities to achieve better child health, particularly in the context of preventing and managing stunting and dental caries.

Abstract

The Tetanus Toxoid immunization program to prepare for pregnancy before marriage has not yet achieved the expected results. The low coverage of Tetanus Toxoid is that people's knowledge is still low and attitudes are not yet supportive of carrying out Tetanus Toxoid immunization practices. The purpose of this activity is to increase public knowledge,especially women of childbearing age, about the importance of Tetanus Toxoid immunization before marriage or before pregnancy. The method used in this service is the lecture method by providing counseling to the public about the importance of Tetanus Toxoid immunization for mothers and babies. The materials used are in the form of posters, power points, and zoom meetings which are distributed to the public in the form of soft files. The result of this service is an increase in public knowledge, especially women of childbearing age, about the importance of Tetanus Toxoid immunization for themselves and their babies. People also increasingly understand the importance of Tetanus Toxoid immunization before marriage. Counseling went well, the community understood how important it was to prepare Tetanus Toxoid immunization before marriage for the health of mothers and their babies.
