Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of using YouTube-based vlogs to enhance students' speaking skills (mahārah kalām) at Darul Falah Amtsilati Islamic Boarding School. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research involved students from the Darussalam dormitory as its subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and performance assessments of the vlogs. The findings reveal that using vlog media positively impacted the development of students’ speaking skills, particularly in fluency, sentence structure accuracy, self-confidence, and the ability to express ideas creatively and communicatively. Although restrictions on the use of mobile devices within the boarding school posed a challenge, assigning vlog-making projects during school holidays proved to be an innovative solution that remained within institutional regulations. Furthermore, the students responded positively to this method, increasing learning motivation and developing 21st-century skills. This study recommends integrating digital media, such as vlogs, into Arabic language instruction as an educational innovation aligned with contemporary needs.

Abstract

This research is based on several problems found at the research location, including the lack of interest in learning TPQ students in learning Arabic, students still having difficulty pronouncing sentences correctly and understanding the meaning of texts in Arabic, and the ineffective use of the learning model used. These problems result in students becoming easily bored and unable to understand Arabic reading rules. This research aims to (1) describe the application of the Problem-Based Learning model in learning reading skills at TPQ Nurul Huda Dinoyo and (2) to determine the effectiveness of using the Problem-Based Learning model in improving the reading skills ability of TPQ Nurul Huda Dinoyo students. This research uses an experimental-based quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design and a non-equivalent control group design type. The variables used are independent variables and dependent variables. The data collection techniques used were observation, tests, and questionnaires. The data analysis used was the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, the descriptive analysis homogeneity test, and the Paired Sample T-Test hypothesis test. The results of this study are: (1) the application of the Problem-Based Learning model in learning reading skills is overall good and effective to be used as a learning model in learning reading skills because it can increase the activeness, interest in learning, and learning outcomes of students compared to the conventional learning model that has been used at TPQ Nurul Huda Dinoyo. (2) Based on the results of the pre-test and post-test of the control and experimental groups, it was found that the experimental group using the Problem-Based Learning model had a higher score increase than the control group. The results of the Paired Sample T-Test hypothesis test showed a Sig. (2-tailed) 0.001 < 0.05, so H0 is rejected, and Ha is accepted. So, applying the Problem-Based Learning model effectively improves the reading skills of TPQ Nurul Huda Dinoyo students.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the integration of technology in teaching Arabic as a foreign language, with a particular focus on Arabic language colleges (Madrasah Education) in Sri Lanka. The study investigates the benefits of technology in facilitating the teaching and learning process, particularly in improving students’ access to information, accelerating language acquisition, and providing engaging practice opportunities. Using descriptive and analytical approaches, the study examines the current state of Arabic language teaching in Sri Lankan colleges, identifies key challenges, and highlights practical strategies adopted by Jamiathul Falah Arabic Language College. Data collection methods included observation and interviews with academics and students. Although educational technology has significant potential, many Arabic language colleges in Sri Lanka have yet to incorporate it into their teaching methodologies fully. However, Jamiathul Falah Arabic Language College is a notable exception, as it has successfully implemented technology in Arabic language teaching for several years. These findings highlight the urgent need to integrate technology into the Arabic language teaching process in Sri Lankan Arabic language colleges to improve the quality of education and address the projected shortage of qualified teachers in the future.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of computational linguistics on the acquisition of Arabic language skills by non-native speakers. The research focuses on the use of computer-assisted language learning (CALL) tools and their effectiveness in enhancing students' proficiency in grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. An experimental design was employed, with participants divided into two groups: one utilizing CALL tools and the other following traditional teaching methods. The findings reveal that students using CALL tools showed significant improvements in language skills, higher engagement, and increased motivation compared to those taught using conventional methods. Statistical analysis confirmed the effectiveness of CALL tools, demonstrating a significant difference in learning outcomes between the groups. The study also identifies challenges, such as technical issues and cultural sensitivity, and recommends integrating artificial intelligence for personalization and incorporating cultural contexts into future developments.
