Abstract

This article discusses the importance of developmental psychology in learning and teaching the Arabic language. Data were obtained from a literature study in the form of journal article documents and reference books related to developmental psychology and Arabic language learning. The results of the study showed that developmental psychology provides insights into how individuals develop cognitively, socially, and emotionally at various stages of their lives. This understanding is crucial for teachers in designing and implementing effective teaching strategies that cater to the needs of students. The article highlights how teaching strategies tailored to students' developmental stages can enhance motivation and learning outcomes. Additionally, the article identifies the challenges teachers face in applying the principles of developmental psychology, such as individual differences among students, limited resources, and inadequate training. Teachers can create a more inclusive and effective learning environment by addressing these challenges through continuous support and training. Implementing developmental psychology in Arabic language teaching is expected to help students reach their full potential and improve the overall quality of education.

Abstract

This study describes the optimization of audiovisual media to increase student concentration in Arabic language learning at MI Azharul Ulum 02 Malang. This study aims to describe the nature of audiovisual learning media and its varieties, the causes of decreased concentration in students, and the implementation of learning media using audiovisuals to overcome decreased concentration in students. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method of case study type. The data collection technique is observation and data techniques using observations at MI AZHARUL ULUM 02, totaling 35 students in 2024, and documentation. This article uses the Miles, M.B. and Huberman, A.M. model for data analysis. The study results showed that audiovisuals are divided into active and non-active. Audiovisual media to improve student concentration can train istima' and qiroah simultaneously, explain learning clearly, save time and costs, help educators deliver learning practically, and help students remember learning more. Two factors can affect student concentration: internal factors (assumptions, willingness or interest, and physical condition) and external factors (lack of support, environmental influences, and monotonous learning presentation models). As for the form of audiovisual implementation in Arabic language learning, researchers raised several material titles. Such as التّعارف, المهنة, اللّون, عدد, الأسرة. Audiovisuals are cartoon and animation videos that display educational videos and songs. After that, the educator guides learning by giving assignments to make videos, singing songs related to the material, and guiding children's understanding through brief explanations. Using audiovisual learning media to improve student concentration is effective for educators.

Abstract

Psycholinguistics studies the psychological factors discussed, namely character education related to the psychology of students. This study aims to describe character education in Psycholinguistics, factors that influence the implementation of the character approach, psycholinguistics in Arabic language learning communication interactions, and Arabic language communication learning media for children. The research method uses a qualitative descriptive design. Data were collected through literature reviews using library research techniques, namely by understanding and reviewing theories presented in various works relevant to the study. Research results: Character education in Psycholinguistics is considered necessary for school students. Psycholinguistics and character education go hand in hand because character education facilitates the application of students' psycholinguistic concepts in real-world situations. Factors that influence the implementation of the character approach are divided into two: internal factors, such as environmental elements at school, and external factors, such as elements that support and help children understand lessons about character education. Therefore, it is known that internal and external factors of the school influence how the character approach is applied in the classroom. Psycholinguistics in Arabic language learning communication interaction Psycholinguistics carefully considers the language processes that occur in the brain during language production by the speaker and during language perception by the listener, such as maharah Istima (listening skills) including determination and communication, maharah kalam (communicative skills) including social and democratic concerns, maharah qiro'ah (reading skills) including curiosity and a love of reading, and maharah kitabah (writing skills) including independence and recognition of achievement. Arabic language communication learning media for children include visual media (bashariyah/visual) for example overhead projectors (OHP), slides, film strips, silent films, and loop films, and audio or listening media (sam'iyah) for example language laboratories, tape recorders, and radios.

Abstract

Ilmu Ma'ani studies how to convey Arabic sentences according to the situation and conditions. This article discusses the linguistic characteristics of surah Makkiyah and Madaniyah in the Qur'an from the perspective of ma'ani studies. The method used is the analysis of the Arabic text of the Qur'an, surah Makkiyah and Madaniyah. The results: surah Makkiyah show a strong and effective language style to convey the main message about monotheism, the last day, and threats to those who deny the truth; by using kalam khabari to emphasize the truth of revelation and kalam insha'i, such as: Commands (amr) and rhetorical questions (istifham) that arouse the thoughts and feelings of the reader. Surah Madaniyah emphasize the social and legal aspects of Islam. The diversity of the use of kalam insha'i, including commands (amr), calls (nida'), rejections (nafi), and oaths (qasm), provides practical guidance for Muslims and strengthens the instillation of moral and social values. This study shows that the differences in language style are in accordance with the historical context and needs of society when the Quran was revealed, and reinforce the message conveyed in the holy book.

Abstract

This study examines the variation in native Arabic speakers' responses to the question kaifa haluk/ كيف حالك (How are you?) in the context of communication on the YouTube platform, specifically through the Iday Adventurer channel. The study aims to describe the forms of responses given by native Arabic speakers and to analyze the social factors influencing language choices, such as the use of formal language (fusha) and everyday language (’amiyah dialect). Data were collected using the Video Content Analysis (VCA) technique, which involves converting spoken interactions in videos into text data for qualitative analysis. The findings show a range of responses tailored to social context and the relationships between speakers, generally influenced by factors such as age, educational background, and the closeness of social ties. This study concludes that digital communication, particularly on YouTube, reflects rich sociolinguistic dynamics, where native Arabic speakers adjust their language choices according to situational and social backgrounds. This research provides additional insight into Arabic language variation on social media and the role of social context in the use of informal and formal language in the digital realm.

Abstract

Translation is a critical conduit for cross-cultural communication, facilitating the exchange of ideas and knowledge across linguistic boundaries. By overcoming language barriers, translation grants individuals access to global scientific and literary resources, promoting international cooperation, mutual understanding, and sustainable development. In Sri Lanka, Muslim scholars have shown a marked interest in translating Arabic texts into local languages, driven by a desire to tap into the rich Arab cultural and scientific heritage and to extract this knowledge accessible to speakers of the island's native languages. The translation of these texts seeks to enrich the local culture and enhance education within Sri Lankan communities and aims to convey a correct understanding of Islam and its teachings, thereby promoting cooperation and coexistence in a society characterized by ethnic and religious diversity. Moreover, these translations play a significant role in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. This study investigates the role of translated Arabic texts in enhancing the language skills of Arabic learners in Sri Lanka, evaluates the impact of these translations on students' understanding of Arabic culture, and explores the challenges students face when learning Arabic through translated materials. The research employs descriptive and analytical methodologies, with data collected through a questionnaire administered via Google Forms to students studying Arabic at government universities in Sri Lanka. The findings indicate that students in Sri Lanka heavily depend on translated Arabic texts to learn the language, as these resources assist them in comprehending complex vocabulary and are regarded as reliable, with an accuracy rate of up to 97%. Translators employ various strategies to address translation challenges, interpreting these texts as valuable and appropriate for the student's needs. The study underscores the essential role of these translations in improving language proficiency among Arabic learners in Sri Lanka.
