Abstract

This research aims to describe the ethical role of da’wah messages in building labor independence at the Bulukumba Regency Job Training Center (BLK). With a qualitative and da’wah communication approach, this research collects data from primary and secondary sources through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the da’wah messages delivered, such as aqidah (sincerity), sharia (charity), muamalah (responsibility), and morals (honesty), were not only related to the provision of material but also formed the character and moral values of the trainees. This research implies the importance of integrating religious values in training programs to form a workforce that is technically skilled and has high moral integrity, highlighting the ethical responsibility of educators and practitioners in the field

Abstract

This research examines Mubalig Kodam XIV / Hasanuddin's distinctive social media branding strategy for da'wah communication. The research methodology involves a qualitative approach, with data collected from interviews with five key informants and content analysis of lectures uploaded to social media on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok in 2024 by the XIV Hasanuddin regional commander's preachers. The study unearthed three significant findings. Firstly, the innovative use of platform-specific strategies is pivotal in optimizing engagement. Facebook serves as a platform for in-depth religious discussions. On the other hand, Instagram emphasizes visual storytelling with series such as "Hadith in Uniform," and TikTok effectively targets younger audiences with short videos like "Rapid Fiqh." Secondly, audience engagement is bolstered through strategic posting times, direct interaction, and personalized responses. The peak engagement period is during the evening (6–8 PM local time). Live question-and-answer sessions significantly reduce the number of absent viewers compared to pre-recorded content. Thirdly, the preachers' image combines religious authority with military values, projecting credibility and moral integrity. This hybrid identity is reinforced through uploads that feature community service, avoid divisive political commentary, and maintain a balance between institutional and religious messages. Through these strategies, Mubalig Kodam XIV/Hasanuddin demonstrates how social media can be an effective tool for modern da'wah, leveraging its potential to reach diverse audiences while maintaining theological authenticity. The study offers practical recommendations, such as developing training modules for specific platforms, better content vetting processes, and an "algorithmic ijtihad" framework for adapting religious messages to digital platforms. These recommendations provide actionable insights for improving social media engagement in religious contexts.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Islamic communication principles in Ustadz Abdul Somad's (UAS) da'wah content on YouTube. The research specifically analyzes how UAS applies three fundamental Islamic communication concepts: qaulan baligha (eloquent speech), qaulan sadida (truthful speech), and qaulan ma'rufa (kind speech) in delivering religious messages encompassing matters of faith (akidah), Islamic law (syar'i), and moral values (akhlak). Through qualitative library research methodology, this study systematically analyzes data from academic literature, scholarly articles, and validated sources focusing on UAS's da'wah content and Islamic communication principles. The findings reveal that UAS effectively implements these principles through clear, precise, and wisdom-filled messages on YouTube, demonstrating exceptional rhetorical skills that resonate with diverse audiences across Indonesia. This research contributes to understanding the effectiveness of Islamic communication principles in digital da'wah and highlights UAS's significant role in shaping contemporary religious discourse through social media platforms in Indonesian society.

Abstract

This study examines the da'wah strategy the Youth Organization (Karang Taruna) implemented to reduce juvenile delinquency in Mario Village, Libureng District, Bone Regency. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation from key informants, including Youth Organization leaders, religious figures, community leaders, and local teenagers. Findings reveal that Karang Taruna employs a sentimental da'wah strategy that focuses on emotional approaches through multiple program dimensions: (1) religious activities, including recitation, corpse bathing training, and establishing Islamic spiritual groups (Rohis); (2) educational interventions through juvenile delinquency seminars; (3) community engagement via charity activities; and (4) talent development through sports and arts programs. The research identifies three primary challenges: limited funding resources, management turnover, human resource constraints, and declining teenage enthusiasm due to technology distractions. The study demonstrates that while the sentimental da'wah approach shows promising results in reducing juvenile delinquency, its effectiveness could be enhanced through sustainable funding mechanisms, strengthened organizational capacity, and more engaging youth-centered activities that respond to contemporary interests. This research contributes to understanding religiously informed youth intervention strategies in rural contexts and provides practical recommendations for community-based approaches to juvenile delinquency.

Abstract

This research delves into the Strategy of the Tabligh Assembly of the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership in implementing the Da'wah Safari Program in Sinjai Regency. The formulation of the problem of this research is of significant importance: How is the strategy of the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership Tabligh Assembly in implementing the da'wah safari program in Sinjai? This type of research is classified as qualitative with a da'wah and communication approach. Primary data sources came from the Regional Leadership of Muhammadiyah Kab. Sinjai and the Tabligh Assembly of the Regional Leadership of Muhammadiyah Kab. Sinjai. The data collection methods used, including observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, were chosen for their thoroughness. Data processing and analysis techniques are carried out through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data exposure, and data verification, with data validity guaranteed through triangulation of techniques, sources, and time. The results showed that the Tabligh Assembly of Muhammadiyah Sinjai Regional Leadership applied three primary strategies in the da'wah safari program: (1) Social transformation through Muhammadiyah charities in various regions, especially in the interior, to facilitate the spread of da'wah; (2) Cultural da'wah with an approach that accommodates local traditions, uses local languages and symbols, and involves traditional leaders in conveying Islamic values; and (3) Systematic and sustainable implementation of the safari da'wah program through regular regional scheduling, da'i cadre, and delivery of contextual da'wah material. The analysis of these strategies can be understood through the theoretical framework of social construction, symbolic interactionism, and structuration. The implications of this research are far-reaching, contributing significantly to the development of da'wah theories, particularly in the context of strategies for implementing the safari da'wah program. The study's results can be directly applied to refine existing strategies, guiding the selection of da'wah materials, delivery methods, and the application of cultural approaches. These refinements can have a tangible, positive impact on the understanding and practice of Islamic values in the lives of the people of Sinjai

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the forms and synergy of da'wah used to address environmental health issues in Bontonyeleng Village, Gantarang District, Bulukumba Regency. This research employs a qualitative approach with a focus on da'wah communication. The data sources for this study consist of primary and secondary data, which are analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the forms of da'wah utilized to address environmental health in Bontonyeleng Village include tabligh (conveying religious messages), irsyad (guidance), tadbir (management), and tamkin (empowerment). This da'wah initiative is a collaborative program involving Islamic preachers (dai), the village head, the Family Welfare Empowerment group, and healthcare workers from Bontonyeleng Community Health Center (Puskesmas). The synergy in implementing this da'wah has had a positive impact on shifting community paradigms and behaviors, as seen in the reduction of domestic waste disposal into irrigation channels. Additionally, approximately 15 out of 50 households have adopted environmentally friendly practices by establishing waste bins. It is hoped that the da'wah approach in addressing environmental health issues in Bontonyeleng Village can be comprehensively applied by the residents and serve as a reference for tackling environmental health concerns in other communities.

Abstract

This research critically examines the strategy of the Social Service in implementing the Family Hope Program (PKH) in Barugaya Village, East Polongbangkeng District, Takalar Regency, with a specific focus on the transformative da'wah approach. The research, conducted using a qualitative approach, gathered primary data through interviews, observations, and documentation from PKH assistants, PKH Coordinators, beneficiaries, and other related parties. The findings revealed that the PKH program in Barugaya Village provides crucial cash assistance for education and health. The implementation of this program, which includes a data verification process, socialization, group meetings, and the distribution of assistance, is designed to heighten community awareness of the importance of education and health to break the cycle of poverty. The research underscores the necessity for PKH assistants to possess advanced social assistance skills to bolster beneficiaries' capacity and ensure maximum impact. The implications of this research underscore the transformative da'wah's role in PKH, which focuses on providing material assistance and plays a pivotal role in community empowerment through active mentoring. The transformative da'wah approach, focusing on community empowerment, fortifies the community's social base and hastens the achievement of sustainable social change. As a result, the PKH program emerges as a potent tool in enhancing the community's quality of life through education and health, and in breaking the chain of poverty.

Abstract

Indonesia ranks first in Asia with 6.05 hours of mobile phone use per day, creating a paradox of high virtual connectivity but social isolation in the real world. This study analyses the transformation of interpersonal communication among Mobile Legends-addicted adolescents in Bojo Baru Village using the perspectives of Computer-Mediated Communication and Goffman's dramaturgy. A qualitative case study method was applied to seven informants (five adolescents aged 13-17 who played 8-15 hours/day, two supporting informants) through 200 hours of observation, in-depth interviews, and digital conversation analysis. Five phenomena were identified: (1) "pseudo-intimate relationships" in the form of deep emotional bonds without physical interaction, challenging Granovetter's weak ties theory; (2) performative identities where adolescents become "assertive leaders in the game, quiet at home"; (3) vernacular language with gaming terms that transform into metaphors for life; (4) compensatory mechanisms where games become an escape for introverted adolescents, which actually exacerbates family isolation; (5) "digital jet lag" in the form of temporal disorientation that triggers family conflict and academic decline. The findings show adolescents as active agents constructing a hybrid social reality, where virtual relationships form a parallel system with a different logic from physical interactions. The study contributes to the concept of "digitally mediated strong ties" and recommends holistic interventions that recognise the adaptive function of gaming while addressing its negative impacts through digital literacy and intergenerational dialogue.

Abstract

This study analyses the role of local wisdom-based environmental communication in the preservation of the Marena Customary Forest in Enrekang Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected from non-participant observation, in-depth interviews with 10 traditional leaders (Batu Ariri), community leaders, and conservationists, as well as analysis of traditional documents (Eda wa'ding). The results reveal three key communication patterns: (1) Ritual (offering manuk-lappa lappa to ask for ancestral permission before agricultural activities); (2) Normative (customary prohibitions such as logging/forest burning); and (3) Layered sanctions (gerek tedong pujak—slaughtering a black buffalo for serious violations). Participatory mechanisms such as Si Ottoman Upa (egalitarian decision-making with knees touching) and traditional "forest police" surveillance reinforce the system's effectiveness. This local wisdom successfully combines spiritual, ecological, and social aspects, as evidenced by sustainable practices (wood replacement: planting two seedlings per tree used). The challenges of modernisation are overcome through adaptive collaboration with the government (e.g., coffee seedling project). It is concluded that the Marena communication model offers a framework for preservation that is resistant to changing times, with recommendations for the digital codification of customary rules and their integration into national conservation policies.

Abstract

This study analyses the dynamics of communication between the Chinese and Bugis ethnic groups in Soppeng Regency using a descriptive qualitative approach with participant observation and in-depth interviews with key informants from both ethnic groups. The focus of the study is the process of communicative adaptation and the mechanisms of social integration that are built in daily interactions. The findings show multidimensional communicative adaptation, including: (1) Linguistic convergence through the adoption of the Bugis language with the internalization of the concept of mappakatau and the use of the discursive particles "je" and "ki" as markers of solidarity; (2) Hybridity of nonverbal communication in gestures, color symbolism, and the concept of time; (3) Active religious tolerance through cross-participation in celebrations and voluntary conversion in interethnic marriages; (4) Involvement in the preservation of traditional Bugis arts; (5) Economic interdependence that strengthens community cohesion. The identified communication patterns show an "adaptive integration" strategy characterised by selective adoption, reciprocal accommodation, and maintenance of core identity while developing cross-cultural communicative competence. Interethnic communication in Soppeng is harmonious due to inclusive community leadership, economic interdependence, and a shared commitment to tolerance. This study provides lessons for the development of multicultural communication in the Indonesian context.
