Abstract

The transformation of technology-based national health services has changed the way adolescents access and utilize health information. This situation places digital health literacy as a critical competency in supporting non-communicable disease prevention behaviors from an early age. This study aims to analyze the integration of digital health literacy into non-communicable disease prevention behaviors among urban Indonesian adolescents. The study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, involving adolescents aged 15–18 years who reside in urban areas and have access to digital technology. Data were collected through an online questionnaire that measured digital health literacy and non-communicable disease prevention behaviors, then analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis. The results showed that adolescents' digital health literacy levels were in the moderate to high category, with the greatest variation in the ability to critically evaluate digital health information. Digital health literacy was shown to be significantly associated with non-communicable disease prevention behaviors, particularly in aspects of physical activity and healthy eating. Adolescents with better digital health literacy tended to demonstrate more consistent preventive behaviors, even after accounting for sociodemographic factors. This study confirms that digital health literacy is a critical determinant in shaping adolescent health behaviors in the digital era. Integrating digital health literacy into health promotion programs and non-communicable disease prevention policies is expected to increase the effectiveness of technology-based health interventions and support sustainable adolescent health development.

Abstract

Post-COVID-19 pandemic, Generation Z faces increased psychosocial distress characterized by anxiety, stress, and difficulties in social adaptation. At the same time, social media has become an integral part of this generation's lives and has the potential to act as a means of mental health literacy. This study aims to analyze the role of social media as a medium for mental health literacy for Generation Z in coping with post-pandemic psychosocial distress. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey design, involving Generation Z respondents who actively use social media. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire that measured social media usage patterns, mental health literacy levels, and psychosocial distress levels, then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The results show that Generation Z has a high intensity of social media use and is actively exposed to mental health content. Respondents' mental health literacy levels are in the moderate category, with relatively good abilities in recognizing emotional problems, but still limited in in-depth understanding and application of appropriate coping strategies. Social media plays a role as a facilitator for increasing mental health literacy, especially through relevant and easily accessible psychoeducational content. Mental health literacy has been shown to contribute to reducing levels of psychosocial distress, thus acting as a protective factor for the psychological well-being of Generation Z. However, without adequate literacy, social media also has the potential to amplify psychosocial distress through exposure to negative content and misinformation. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening social media-based mental health literacy as a promotive and preventive strategy for Generation Z.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has driven changes in approaches to public health promotion and education. Digital health education content is increasingly used as a means of delivering flexible, accessible health information that is tailored to the characteristics of productive-age populations. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of digital health education content in improving knowledge and preventive attitudes among productive-age populations. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest–posttest method without a control group. The subjects were productive-age populations with access to digital devices and the internet. The intervention was carried out through the provision of visually and informative digital health education content. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire to measure respondents' levels of knowledge and preventive attitudes before and after the intervention. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and inferentially to assess changes that occurred after the education provision. The results showed a significant increase in respondents' levels of knowledge after the intervention, accompanied by a change in preventive attitudes towards more positive ones. These findings indicate that digital health education content is effective in increasing understanding and shaping preventive attitudes among productive-age populations. This study emphasizes the strategic role of digital health education as an adaptive and relevant alternative for health promotion in the digital era. The results are expected to form the basis for developing more effective and sustainable digital-based health education programs.

Abstract

Increasing life expectancy has resulted in a growing elderly population, making them vulnerable to various degenerative diseases. Diseases such as musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurodegenerative disorders pose a major challenge in maintaining the quality of life of the elderly. Physical activity is considered an effective and sustainable non-pharmacological preventive strategy to reduce the risk of these degenerative diseases. This study aims to comprehensively examine the role of physical activity in preventing degenerative diseases in the elderly, based on the latest scientific evidence. This study used a systematic literature review design with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data were obtained from fully open-access national and international journal articles published within the last ten years. The literature analyzed encompassed various research designs, focusing on physical activity and its impact on the health of the elderly. The research process involved identification, selection, data extraction, and thematic analysis and synthesis of findings. The study results indicate that regular physical activity appropriate to the abilities of the elderly plays a significant role in preventing degenerative diseases. Physical activity has been shown to improve musculoskeletal function, cardiovascular health, metabolic control, and support mental health and cognitive function in the elderly. Furthermore, physical activity contributes to increased independence and quality of life in the elderly. The conclusion of this study confirms that physical activity is a crucial component of promotive and preventive health efforts for the elderly, and it needs to be integrated into health care and community empowerment programs.

Abstract

Chronic disease is a major health problem that continues to increase in line with changes in modern lifestyles, characterized by low physical activity and high levels of sedentary behavior. The current approach to chronic disease prevention has been dominated by structured exercise, which in practice is often difficult to implement consistently due to time constraints and the demands of daily activities. This study aims to comprehensively examine chronic disease prevention strategies through micro-workouts and modern daily activities as a more adaptive and sustainable approach to physical activity. This study used a systematic literature review method with a narrative synthesis of open-access journal articles published in the last ten years. The analysis was conducted by grouping research findings based on key themes, including the relationship between physical activity and chronic disease, the effectiveness of micro-workouts, the role of modern daily activities, and factors supporting and inhibiting implementation. The study results indicate that consistent, short-duration physical activity can provide significant health benefits, including improved cardiovascular health, metabolic control, and reduced sedentary behavior. Modern daily activities have been shown to increase total accumulated physical activity without the need for structured exercise. This study concludes that the integration of micro workouts and modern daily activities is a realistic, effective, and appropriate chronic disease prevention strategy that is in line with the lifestyle characteristics of modern society, and has the potential to support promotive and preventive efforts in public health.
