Abstract

The proposed qualitative research paper will examine the strategies, challenges and perceptions of stakeholders in relation to the bureaucratic reform with the aim of improving digital public services. The paper establishes the efficiency of digital reforms such as the encouragement of the inclusive participation and the elimination of resistance to change through thorough interviews with the stakeholders, namely the government officials and information technology professionals. The results indicate that there is a sharp issue of organizational inertia and that it is critical to have clear evaluation measurements, which will help in the effective provision of digital services. Further, the perception of the stakeholders indicates that there is a great faith in the ability of digital public services to enhance access to government, efficiency and transparency in the government administration. Nevertheless, the success of such initiatives can be derailed, unless the root causes of such obstacles are considered and different stakeholders are involved in the reform process. The research is significant in that it adds to the existing body of literature on the need to comprehend human factors in digital transformation of public services, and highlights key role of promoting organisational culture of collaboration in public agencies. The experiences gained during this research are useful to policymakers and practitioners who work to overcome the challenges of the digital reform in the governmental setting and eventually improve the processes of service delivery and social trust.

Abstract

This study investigates the local community's response to livelihood commodification in the Tanjung Bira Beach tourism destination. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and document analysis involving key informants, including community leaders and local business owners. The findings reveal significant impacts of tourism on traditional livelihoods, with many participants experiencing declines in fishing and farming activities while adapting by diversifying into tourism-related work. Cultural practices have also been commodified, raising concerns about authenticity and cultural identity. Despite the economic benefits of increased income and job opportunities, the community faces challenges related to environmental degradation and social tensions. The study highlights the importance of community engagement in decision-making processes and the need for sustainable tourism practices to ensure equitable benefits for all residents.

Abstract

The present essay is a vehement attempt to explore how effective social media is in regards to political campaigning and participatory campaign movements in democracy. The interviews and focus groups were resorted to, to pursue the information concerning the exposures of the participants of this study to the political contents and their interaction with the created micro-influencers, as well as the implications of the user-generated content (UGC) in general. Logs and diaries were also used. The micro-influencers due to their close interactions with the followers have the most important role of driving political participation as it is stated in the research adopted. Among the examples of social media activism, one may refer to memes, other videos, and realistic campaigns devoted to politics, and it may be concluded as the tool that should never be underestimated to raise the voice of the political force, make people become involved online and offline. To simplify somewhat complicated political issues and engage more viewers, visual effects, in particular emotive photography, and video have been added as the effective means. The cynicism that affects those systems is also reviewed in the paper and the way in which the polarization and fake news interfere with politics and betray the trust in the online media. These give some insights to how social media has affected political activities and participation and social stratification of its citizens and empowered them.

Abstract

The present research aims to examine the impact of social media in the political participation of youths in the 2024 elections hence filling a gap within the literature on digital interaction and political action. Employing an online quantitative research approach, data was obtained through a structured survey from young voters within the age of 18-30. The study established a positive relationship between the amount of time spent on social media and political activity, a coefficient of 0.45; and between exposure to political content and political participation of 0.52. Further, the frequency of discussing politics on the web was also reported to improve engagement (r = 0.35). These observations further support the importance of social media as a key avenue for discussions and organization of political events and operations, especially among young people who are turning more and more to these online products for information sharing and interactions. On the basis of the study, it is possible to advance knowledge of how social media influences political perceptions and actions in highly polarized electoral environments. Included it is the concern for future studies on the nature of technology-based electoral activism that would enhance the political enlightenment of the young voting populace. These findings have important theoretical and practical implications for government, school, and political parties in order to understand and mobilize young people effectively.

Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the impact of social media in forming political dialogue, attitude formation, polarization, and activism in political society in the digital era. However, adopting a qualitative research approach this study interviewed participants and analyzed the content of their posts to assess the impact of social media in the political activities and spread of information. The details show that political discussions are enforced by social media, and customers are guided to extremes and hate. In the study, the role of fake news and bais was established in the formation of opinions among the users with many users being unable to distinguish between the genuine news and fake news. The current research also shows that social media has a unique function in both as catalyst for political events and as means of digitized activism which on the other side also leads to low-effort activism or “slacktivism”. As such, this research fills the existing gaps in literature by illustrating a better and more nuanced approach of understanding the both the opportunities and challenges that social media poses in the political sphere- and how it can, at the same time, both empower people’s political participation and also escalate polarization. This paper concludes by proposing the areas and recommendations in relation to studying the functionality of social media for civil discourse and depolarization of society.

Abstract

This study explores women's participation in decision-making within indigenous communities, focusing on the barriers and supportive factors that influence their involvement in governance. By examining several indigenous communities, the research identifies key obstacles such as cultural norms, economic constraints, and gender-based violence, which limit women's roles in decision-making processes. However, the study also highlights the positive impact of education, supportive leadership, and empowerment programs in enhancing women's participation. The findings suggest that while some communities have made significant progress towards gender equality, others continue to face significant challenges. The study calls for more gender-sensitive policies and increased support for women's leadership to foster more inclusive decision-making practices.

Abstract

This paper looks at social inequality in education provision in Talaud Islands Regency, North Sulawesi in terms of educational inequality between cities and rural settlements. Through the use of a qualitative case study method, the study identifies some of the factors which act as a barrier to access such as a small number of secondary schools, poor teacher qualification, absence of education infrastructure and poverty as well as the absence of educational provision and great levels of drop outs. Information was collected by conducting interviews with stakeholders working locally on schooling but also by direct visitations of school premises. The results indicate a serious problem of the equal educational provision, and the rural students have more difficulties in proceeding with learning as a result of geographical isolation and economic background. The article highlights the importance of specific policy decisions that may help upgrade infrastructure, train the staff, and provide financial assistance to remote inhabitants. Suggestions have been made such as investing in schools infrastructure, providing a reward to those teachers who can work in rural areas, and economic obstacles to a student continuing his/her education.

Abstract

The addiction to social media has recently gained attention among teenagers, especially as concerns loneliness. The paper focuses on researching the connection between loneliness and social media addiction, taking into consideration the following demographic factors (gender, age, and socioeconomic status) and psychological ones (self-esteem and resilience). In 400 adolescents, there was a cross-sectional survey based on validated scales. The results of Pearson correlation analysis showed a significant positive correlation between the loneliness and social media dependency (r = 0.47, p < 0.01). The results of multiple regression analysis showed that the strongest predictor was definitely loneliness (beta = 0.45, p < 0.001), whereas females and older adolescents demonstrated greater dependency. The mediation analysis revealed that self-esteem mediated this relationship partially and the moderation analyses revealed that resilience moderated the effect of loneliness with relations to social media dependency. These results indicate that there is an imperative of intervention measures targeted at promoting resilience and self-esteem to prevent social media dependency in lonely young people.

Abstract

Mobile phone usage has become an integral part of daily life, influencing various aspects of human interaction, including family relationships. This study examines the impact of mobile phone usage during family gatherings on social interaction quality, emotional bonding, and relationship satisfaction. A mixed-methods approach was used, incorporating descriptive and inferential statistical analyses from a sample of 200 respondents. The findings reveal a strong negative correlation (r = -0.68, p < 0.01) between mobile phone usage and family interaction quality, indicating that higher mobile engagement significantly reduces meaningful communication. Additionally, regression analysis (β = -0.65, p < 0.001) confirms that excessive device use predicts lower family connection. The study also highlights the emotional consequences of mobile distractions, with 42.5% of respondents reporting feelings of annoyance when ignored in favor of a mobile device. A significant difference in relationship satisfaction (p < 0.001) was found between high and low phone users, reinforcing the argument that excessive mobile use disrupts family harmony. This study fills an important gap in existing literature by focusing on family interactions rather than romantic or workplace relationships, offering practical implications for fostering mindful technology use within households. Future research should explore long-term consequences and intervention strategies to mitigate the negative effects of mobile phone distractions on family dynamics.

Abstract

This study critically assesses the effectiveness of local government decentralization in enhancing public service delivery in the Philippines. While decentralization has been implemented with the intent to improve governance responsiveness and local development, its outcomes have been markedly uneven. Drawing on policy documents, audit reports, and case comparisons, the research reveals that many local government units (LGUs) lack the institutional, fiscal, and human resource capacities necessary to deliver quality services. Although some LGUs have achieved notable success, these cases often reflect localized leadership strengths rather than systemic efficacy. The analysis underscores the disconnect between formal decentralization policies and their practical execution, highlighting how weak intergovernmental coordination, limited accountability mechanisms, and inadequate policy coherence undermine broader effectiveness. The paper concludes that meaningful improvement in public service delivery requires a shift toward capacity-driven, performance-oriented decentralization frameworks that address structural asymmetries and promote institutional learning across LGUs.
