Abstract

This study aims to analyze the regulatory strategies implemented by the Civil Service Police Unit in managing street vendors in Wonomulyo District and to examine the factors influencing their effectiveness. A qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design was employed, using data collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that street vendor regulation is carried out through a hybrid approach that integrates organizational enforcement, preventive measures, repressive actions, and post-relocation monitoring. The results indicate that strategies emphasizing dialogue, relocation, and structured organization are relatively effective in reducing conflict and improving compliance. However, their effectiveness is constrained by limited institutional capacity, weak socialization, and the economic dependence of street vendors on informal activities. The study contributes to urban governance literature by proposing a context-sensitive regulatory model and offers practical implications for improving policy implementation in managing informal economies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the weak implementation of the principle of lex superior derogat legi inferiori and its implications for legal certainty within the Indonesian legal system. Using a normative juridical approach, the research applies statutory, conceptual, and case-based analysis to evaluate legislation and judicial decisions related to normative hierarchy. The findings reveal that the principle is not effectively operationalized due to systemic factors, including regulatory disharmony, procedural harmonization, overlapping judicial authority, low legislative quality, and formalistic administrative practices. These conditions result in persistent norm conflicts, delayed legal correction, and weakened predictability of legal outcomes. Unlike previous studies that focus primarily on doctrinal aspects, this research demonstrates that legal certainty depends on the interaction of multiple institutional dimensions. The study implies that strengthening preventive harmonization, improving legislative quality, and enhancing institutional coordination are essential to restoring the effectiveness of hierarchical principles. These findings contribute to the broader discourse on legal certainty, regulatory governance, and institutional reform in developing legal systems.

Abstract

This study examines how local government policies influence the implementation of multiculturalism in Medan City, Indonesia, within a decentralized governance framework. The research aims to identify key governance factors that shape the effectiveness of multicultural policy implementation. A quantitative approach was employed using a cross-sectional survey of 120 respondents, including government officials, educators, community leaders, and civil society representatives. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression. The findings reveal that leadership commitment is the most significant factor influencing multicultural implementation, followed by institutional coordination, policy clarity, and resource availability. These results indicate that governance capacity plays a central role in translating multicultural principles into practical outcomes. The study introduces the concept of governance-driven multiculturalism, emphasizing that institutional dynamics are critical in shaping policy effectiveness in diverse urban contexts. The implications of this research highlight the need for stronger leadership, improved coordination mechanisms, and clearer policy frameworks to enhance inclusive governance. This study contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence from a Southeast Asian context and offering a governance-based perspective on multicultural policy implementation.

Abstract

This study examines the interaction of familial and religious beliefs in shaping educational aspirations among secondary school students in Bangladesh. Using a quantitative survey design, data were collected from 450 students and analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation, multiple regression, and interaction modeling. The results indicate that familial beliefs are the strongest predictor of educational aspirations (β = 0.48), followed by religious beliefs (β = 0.36). Importantly, the interaction effect between familial and religious beliefs is statistically significant (β = 0.29), demonstrating that alignment between these belief systems strengthens educational aspirations, whereas misalignment constrains them. The novelty of this study lies in its integrated analysis of belief systems as interacting sociocultural forces rather than independent variables. This approach provides a more nuanced understanding of aspiration formation in developing country contexts. The findings imply that effective educational interventions should address not only structural barriers but also the cultural and normative dimensions of aspiration formation by engaging families and religious communities.

Abstract

This research explores how family and religious beliefs influence educational aspirations among high school students in Bangladesh. This study seeks to understand the interplay between these beliefs and aspiration formation among students. The study used a mixed methods approach, integrating survey data of 450 students and interviews to examine quantitative trends and interpretative practices. The results suggest robust parental support and religious interpretations that support education are linked to higher student aspirations, with restrictive or conflicting beliefs constraining them. It also shows that congruence between family and religious beliefs enhances aspiration stability, while incongruence creates uncertainty and negotiation. Comparing gender effects, the aspirations of female students are more responsive to normative beliefs, but supportive contexts can reduce inequalities. This study is unique in its holistic approach to familial and religious beliefs as inter-related rather than isolated systems. The study adds to sociocultural theories of education by emphasising the relational and dynamic aspects of aspiration. The study offers practical implications for policy, which should seek to involve families and religious organisations in creating supportive and consistent belief systems.

Abstract

This study examines the role of self-love content on TikTok in shaping self-identity, self-awareness, motivation, and behavioral outcomes among Generation Z in Manggala District, Makassar City. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving ten active TikTok users selected through purposive sampling. The findings reveal that self-love content contributes positively to self-awareness, self-acceptance, confidence, motivation, and self-care practices. Participants reported becoming more reflective about their emotions, personal values, and life goals after repeated exposure to self-love narratives. However, the findings also indicate potential negative consequences, including social comparison and emotional dependence on digital validation. The novelty of this study lies in its exploration of self-love content as an algorithmically mediated mechanism that influences both psychological development and behavioral transformation. The study highlights the importance of promoting digital literacy and critical content engagement to maximize the benefits of self-love content while minimizing its potential risks for young social media users.
