Abstract

This study aims to describe the early reading ability of second-grade students using the Early Grade Reading Assessment  technique. The research employed a naturalistic inquiry method with a qualitative approach. The subjects of the study were 27 second-grade students. Data were collected through two EGRA test stages: the first stage involved naming the alphabet within 60 seconds, and the second stage involved reading meaningful words within 60 seconds. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. Data analysis was conducted using percentage analysis and the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students’ ability to name alphabet letters was in the high category, with 23 students (85%) able to correctly name all 26 letters within 60 seconds (100%), while 4 students (15%) named 24 letters with a 92.30% accuracy rate. In the meaningful word reading test, 20 students (74%) read 20 words correctly within 60 seconds (high category), 5 students (18%) achieved 95% accuracy (high category), 1 student (4%) was in the moderate category (75%), and 1 student (4%) was in the low category (0%). Overall, the findings indicate that the students’ early reading ability is categorized as high, although a small number of students still require additional guidance to improve their reading accuracy and speed.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the development, feasibility, and responses of students and teachers toward a comic-based learning media grounded in local wisdom for the topic of ecosystem harmony. The research was a development study that followed the ADDIE instructional model, consisting of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. However, this study was conducted only up to the development stage. The subjects involved were teachers, students, and validators, with data collected through interviews and student responses. The study concluded that the comic media based on Riau’s local wisdom was developed using the ADDIE model up to the development stage, involving needs analysis, story and illustration design, and validation by material, language, and media experts. The validation results indicated that the media was highly feasible, showing significant score improvements and positive responses from teachers (100%) and students (93.33%). The media was found to be engaging, effective in helping conceptual understanding, and relevant for use in IPAS learning. It is recommended that schools provide adequate digital facilities, teachers utilize this media in instruction, and future researchers develop an interactive version while investigating its effectiveness in improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan media Chromebook terhadap motivasi belajar dan hasil belajar siswa kelas V pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di SDN 17 Pekanbaru. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah asosiatif kuantitatif dengan sampel seluruh siswa kelas V sebanyak 66 siswa. Instrumen penelitian berupa angket motivasi belajar dan angket penggunaan Chromebook, yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif, uji normalitas, linearitas, dan regresi linear sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan Chromebook memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar siswa (R = 0,441; R² = 0,195; Sig. < 0,001), namun tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil belajar siswa (R = 0,039; R² = 0,001; Sig. = 0,758). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa Chromebook efektif dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar, tetapi peningkatan motivasi tidak selalu diterjemahkan menjadi peningkatan hasil belajar akademik. Penelitian ini menyarankan guru untuk mengintegrasikan Chromebook dengan strategi pembelajaran yang tepat dan dukungan latihan konsisten agar hasil belajar dapat meningkat secara signifikan.
