Abstract

Augmented reality (AR) technology has emerged as a powerful tool in various sectors, offering innovative solutions that enhance user engagement and experience. In the context of social business models, AR has the potential to drive sustainable development by addressing key social and environmental challenges. Despite its growing popularity, the role of AR in enhancing social business models remains underexplored. This research aims to investigate the impact of augmented reality on social business models and its potential to contribute to sustainable development. The study seeks to identify how AR can be integrated into social enterprises to enhance their effectiveness and sustainability. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative case studies. A survey was conducted with 150 social entrepreneurs to gather data on the use of AR and its perceived impact. Additionally, five in-depth case studies of social enterprises utilizing AR were conducted to provide detailed insights into implementation strategies and outcomes. The findings indicate that AR significantly enhances the effectiveness of social business models by improving user engagement, education, and operational efficiency. Social enterprises using AR reported higher levels of community engagement and greater impact on their social and environmental goals. The case studies revealed successful strategies for integrating AR, such as interactive educational content and immersive storytelling, which contributed to achieving sustainable development outcomes. The study concludes that augmented reality holds substantial potential for enhancing social business models and promoting sustainable development. By leveraging AR technology, social enterprises can create more engaging and impactful solutions to address social and environmental challenges. Continued research and investment in AR applications within the social enterprise sector are recommended to fully realize its potential.

Abstract

The advent of creative technologies such as game design and virtual reality (VR) has opened new avenues for social innovation. These technologies offer immersive and interactive experiences that can address various societal challenges, from education to mental health. Despite their potential, there is limited comprehensive research on how these technologies are being utilized in social innovation. This research aims to explore how creative technologies in game design and virtual reality are transforming society through social innovation. The study seeks to identify successful case studies and analyze the impact of these technologies on different social sectors. The research employs a qualitative case study approach, examining six social innovation projects that leverage game design and VR. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with project leaders, direct observation, and analysis of project outcomes. This approach provides a detailed understanding of the implementation processes, challenges, and successes of each project. The findings indicate that game design and VR have significant potential to create positive social change. Projects in education showed enhanced student engagement and learning outcomes, while mental health initiatives reported improved therapeutic experiences and patient well-being. Other projects addressed issues such as social inclusion and environmental awareness, demonstrating the versatility and effectiveness of these technologies. The study concludes that creative technologies in game design and VR can play a transformative role in social innovation. By providing engaging and immersive experiences, these technologies can effectively address a wide range of societal challenges. Abstract

The intersection of creative technology and social entrepreneurship presents new opportunities for community development. Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies have the potential to create immersive experiences that can address social issues and foster sustainable development. Despite the growing interest in these technologies, there is a lack of comprehensive research on their application in social entrepreneurship. This study aims to explore how innovations in VR and AR can be harnessed to support social entrepreneurship initiatives focused on community development. The research seeks to identify best practices, challenges, and the impact of these technologies on social businesses. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining qualitative and quantitative research. The qualitative phase involved interviews with social entrepreneurs who have integrated VR and AR into their projects. The quantitative phase included surveys to measure the impact of these technologies on community engagement and development. Case studies of successful implementations were also analyzed to provide practical insights. The findings reveal that VR and AR technologies significantly enhance community engagement and participation in social entrepreneurship projects. Social entrepreneurs reported improved outreach, better visualization of social issues, and increased empathy among participants. Quantitative data showed a positive correlation between the use of these technologies and the effectiveness of community development initiatives. Innovations in VR and AR offer promising tools for social entrepreneurs aiming to create positive social impacts. These technologies enhance the ability to engage communities and address complex social issues. Future research should focus on scaling these innovations and exploring their long-term effects on sustainable development.

Abstract

The increasing popularity of interactive media, particularly video games, presents a unique opportunity to address global challenges. By integrating elements of game design with sustainable development goals (SDGs), it is possible to create engaging experiences that drive positive social impact. This study explores the potential of game design to contribute to sustainable development and social impact. The primary objective of this research is to investigate how interactive media, specifically video games, can be designed to promote sustainable development and foster social impact. The study aims to identify key design elements that effectively engage players and encourage behaviors aligned with the SDGs. This research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data. A literature review was conducted to understand existing frameworks and theories related to game design and sustainability. This was followed by the development of a prototype game incorporating these principles. The game was tested with a sample of 100 participants through surveys and focus group discussions to gather insights on player engagement and behavioral impact. The findings indicate that well-designed interactive media can significantly raise awareness and influence behaviors related to sustainable development. Participants reported increased knowledge and motivation to engage in activities supporting the SDGs. Key design elements such as immersive storytelling, rewarding systems, and collaborative challenges were identified as crucial in driving player engagement and social impact. The study concludes that interactive media, especially video games, hold substantial potential in promoting sustainable development and social impact. By incorporating strategic design elements, game developers can create compelling experiences that not only entertain but also educate and inspire positive change.
