Abstract

Abstract: The formation and development of healthy and effective characters among the students are closely related to the role played by a counselor at school. However, in the era of globalization, the role of counselor in the development of good character in students is more difficult and complicated. Thus, apart from the knowledge and skills, counselor should have an effective strategy in encouraging the development of good character in young children. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a ‘Prodigy’ as an approach to assist the guidance and counseling teachers as well as other individuals who play vital roles in the development and improvement of students’ behavior. Prodigy is unique and innovative because it helps counselors to understand the essential elements for the improvement and enhancement of human development in schools; and comprehensive as they integrate the affective, cognitive and behavioral components of character development. This paper discusses relevant course modules for character development and touches the benefits of using Prodigy in fostering character development.Keywords: Prodigy, counseling, character development, character counseling, counseling modules

Abstract

Abstract: This paper gives a try to presents the complete action plan in setting up an extensive reading course that is not only for fostering the students’ English proficiency but also for building up their character as well. This paper addresses that sets up a good theme before teaching is necessary. Henceforth, this program lies ‘from zero to hero’ as the theme. In teaching this program, a problembased approach and lexically-based language teaching are adopting and integrating as an instructional methodology. The explanation of it will be divided into two parts. First part is the review of theory underpinning the implementation of this program, and the second part is the detail of the action plan. Keywords: extensive reading, character building, problem-based approach, lexically-based language teaching PENGAJARAN PROGRAM MEMBACA EKSTENSIF DENGAN TEMA PEMBENTUKAN KARAKTER: FROM ZERO TO HERO Abstrak: Penulisan ini menyajikan rencana lengkap dalam menyelenggarakan kursus membaca ekstensif yang tidak hanya untuk mengembangkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris para siswa tetapi juga untuk membangun karakter mereka. Makalah ini merujuk pada pentingnya menentukan tema yang baik sebelum mengajar. Untuk selanjutnya, program ini mengambil tema 'from zero to hero'. Dalam mengajar program ini, pengajaran bahasa berbasis masalah dan pengajaran bahasa berbasis leksikal diadopsi dan diintegrasikan sebagai metodologi instruksional. Penjelasan akan dibagi menjadi dua bagian. Bagian pertama adalah tinjauan teori yang mendasari pelaksanaan program ini, dan bagian kedua adalah detail dari perencanaan. Abstract

Abstrak: Pesantren salafiah adalah lembaga pendidikan yang sudah tersebar ke seluruh pelosok negeri. Kesederhanaan, kearifan lokal, falsafah dan pola pendidikannya sudah mengakar pada sebagian besar masyarakat Indonesia, khususnya dalam pendidikan berbasis agama Islam. Secara tidak langsung dan tidak formal pendidikan karakter telah ditanamkan secara kuat dengan pola dan teknik yang khas pesantren salafiah. Pendidikan karakter sesungguhnya tidak harus menggunakan kurikulum yang formal, cukup dengan hiden curriculum. Pendidikan karakter tidak selalu diajarkan dalam kelas, namun dilakukan secara simultan dan berkelanjutan di dalam dan di luar kelas. Keberhasilan pendidikan karakter akan dipengaruhi oleh teladan dan contoh nyata dalam kehidupan dan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Pendidikan karakter tidak bisa dipaksakan, namun dijalani sebagai mana adanya kehidupan keseharian sehingga dengan sendirinnya melekat kuat pada diri setiap peserta didik atau santri. Kata Kunci: pondok pesantern Salafiah, pendidikan karakter, hiden curriculum PORTRAIT OF CHARACTER EDUCATION IN SALAFIAH BOARDING SCHOOL Abstract: Pesantren salafiah are educational institutions that are distributed throughout the country. Simplicity, local wisdom and philosophy as well as the pattern of education is rooted in the majority of the people of Indonesia, especially in the Islamic faith-based education. Indirectly and not formal character education has been strongly implanted with distinctive patterns and techniques salafiah boarding. True character education should not use a formal curriculum, enough with hiden curriculum. Character education is not always taught in the classroom, but performed simultaneously and continuous inside and outside the classroom. The success of character education will be influenced by role models and examples of real life and in learning activities. Character education can not be imposed, but lived as they really are their own daily lives so strongly attached to the self individual learners or students. Abstract

Abstrak: Pembangunan karakter bangsa harus senantiasa diiringi dengan penguatan rasa kebangsaan. Dengan semangat kebangsaan yang kuat, cerminan karakter Indonesia akan muncul dalam segala aktivitas yang ditujukan bagi peningkatan kualitas bangsa. Jalur pendidikan mengambil peran penting dalam upaya pencapaian tujuan ini. Sebagai alat ekspresi diri pribadi, alat ekspresi diri makhluk sosial, alat ekspresi diri warga negara, dan alat ekspresi diri profesional, bahasa menjadi kebutuhan dasar dalam dunia pendidikan. Bahasa memiliki peran penting dalam pembentukan karakter seseorang. Jika perspektif peran bahasa dipadukan dalam proses pendidikan guru, bahasa berperan sebagai alat pengembangan kompetensi pendidik. Melalui pembelajaran bahasa yang integratif dengan didasari pemahaman historis-filosofis tentang Indonesia yang berlandaskan kearifan lokal, semangat nasional, dan wawasan global, semangat kebangsaan dapat tumbuh untuk memperkuat karakter Indonesia. With the strong nationalism, the reflection of character of Indonesia will emerge in all activities for the improvement of nation quality. Education takes an important role in its effort. As a tool of self expression, social expression, nationality expression, and professionality expression, language is become a fundamental need in education. By an integrated language learning based on historical-philosophycal understanding about Indonesia with its local wisdom, nationalism, and global horizon, the spirit of nationalism can be improved to strengthen the character of Indonesia. Abstract

Abstrak: Nilai keberagaman merupakan fakta yang ada pada anak-anak didik kita yang secara makro mereka berasal dari berbagai latar belakang budaya dan memengaruhi cara hidup yang diejawantahkan pada level mikro di dalam kelas. merupakan sebuah kaidah yang menjadi pegangan dalam berinteraksi dengan sesama manusia dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat. Nilai tersebut perlu dijunjung bersama oleh suatu komunitas agar terjadi keadaan saling menghargai, toleransi, serta menghargai perbedaan dan persamaan dalam kehidupan bersama. Hal tersebut seharusnya menjadi pegangan bagi peserta didik di sekolah yang menyelenggarakan model inklusi. Nilai keberagaman dapat diinternalisasikan ke dalam diri peserta didik sekolah dasar penyelenggara inklusi melalui pembelajaran pemodelan, pembiasaan, saling berdiskusi, model kognitif, dan pengondisian sekolah dalam menghargai prestasi yang berdasarkan keunikan masing-masing peserta didik. Kata Kunci: nilai keberagaman, pembentukan karakter, inklusif di sekolah dasar VALUE DIVERSITY’ LEARNING TO BUILDING FOR CHARACTER’ STUDENT IN INCLUSIVE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLAbstract: Diversity value is a fact that exist between our students who come from various cultural background and affect the way of life embodied in the micro level in the classroom. It is a rule that a credential in interacting with others in public life. This value should be upheld together by a community to state a mutual respect, tolerance, and respect the differences and similarities in life. It should become a handbook for students in schools that held a model of inclusion. The diversity value can be internalized into the self-organizing primary school learners through learning inclusion modeling, habituation, mutual discussion, cognitive models, and schools conditioning in honoring achievement by the uniqueness of each learner. Abstract

Abstract: This paper is aimed at revealing an idea that some positive values that are similar to the traits of character education can be generated through peer assessment. Peer assessment is defined as an assessment which involves the process of reviewing, valuing and giving comments and suggestion toward their peer‘s work. This way the students subconsciously generate some positive values such as respectful, helping and understanding, confident (self-esteem), independent, persistent, and responsible. Therefore, peer assessment offers academic benefits such as personal accountability, as well as interpersonal and collaborative skills that not only help students academically but also socially as a member of society. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui peran Sekolah Menengah Pertama berbasis pondok pesantren dalam upaya menanamkan pendidikan kepada generasi bangsa Indonesia. Karakter bangsa yang mulai luntur di tengah arus globalisasi dan modernisasi seperti sekarang ini harus segera diatasi. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah melalui sistem pendidikan yang mencerdaskan sekaligus mencerahkan seperti yang diterapkan di sekolah berbasis pesantren. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sekolah berbasis pesantren memunyai peran yang signifikan dalam upaya pembentukan karakter bangsa. Pendidikan pondok pesantren dapat membentuk peserta didik yang berjiwa religius, akhlakul hasanah, disiplin, sederhana, menghormati orang yang lebih tua, dan memahami filosofis kehidupan. Kata Kunci: Pondok Pesantren, pendidikan karakter, generasi muda BOARDING SCHOOL-BASED SMP ROLE AS AN EFFORT TO IMPLEMENT CHARACTER EDUCATION FOR NATION’S SUCCESSORAbstract: The objective of the research is to understand the roles of pondok pesantren-based First Elementary School in the effort to infuse education among the younger generation of Indonesia. The national character which is fading fast amidst the current globalization and modernization needs an immediate respond. One of the efforts for that is using the educating and enlightening education system used in pondok pesantren-based school. The research uses descriptive method with qualitative approach. The result of the research shows that pesantren-based school has a significant role in shaping the character of the nation. Educational boarding school form students’ to be religious minded, akhlakul hasanah, disciplined, humble, respecting elders, and understand the philosophical of life. Abstract

Abstrak: Bangsa yang besar adalah bangsa yang memiliki karakter kuat bersumber dari nilai-nilai yang digali dari budaya masyarakatnya. Nilai-nilai kearifan lokal bukanlah penghambat kemajuan di era global, namun menjadi kekuatan transformasional yang luar biasa dalam meningkatkan kualitas sumber daya manusia sebagai modal keunggulan kompetetif dan komparatif suatu bangsa. Oleh karena itu, penggalian nilai-nilai kearifan lokal merupakan langkah strategis dalam upaya membangun karakter bangsa. Hamemayu Hayuning Bawana merupakan filosofi yang mengandung dimensi karakter secara komprehensif. Hamemayu hayuning bawana bermakna selalu mengupayakan peningkatan kesejahteraan rakyat dan mendorong terciptanya sikap serta perilaku hidup individu yang menekankan keselarasan manusia dengan manusia, manusia dengan alam, dan manusia dengan Allah dalam melaksanakan hidup dan kehidupan. The values of local wisdom is not inhibiting progress in the global era, but a tremendous transformational force in improving the quality of human resources as a competitive advantage and comparative capital of a nation. Therefore, extracting the values of local wisdom is a strategic step in building national character. Hamemayu Hayuning Bawana is a philosophy that contains a comprehensive dimensional character. Hamemayu hayuning bawana means always strive to increase the welfare of the people and encouraging attitudes and behavior of individuals who emphasize the harmony between human, between human and nature, and between human and God in carrying out life and living.
