Abstract

This study explores the methods used in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) for deaf students, along with the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing the implementation of these methods at SLB Darussalam Karangpucung. Employing a qualitative approach with a phenomenological perspective, this research seeks to understand the lived experiences of educators and students within the inclusive learning environment. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. The data analysis process involved three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the PAI learning methods utilized include the lecture method, demonstration method, and habituation method. Teaching strategies are predominantly conventional, adopting a teacher-centered approach. The school implements an adapted version of the 2013 curriculum, aligned with the principles of the Independent Curriculum, and tailored to the needs and abilities of deaf students. Instruction is delivered using both sign language and spoken language to accommodate communication needs. Inhibiting factors identified include inadequate teacher competencies in special education, the unique characteristics of deaf students that require specialized approaches, and the unavailability of PAI textbooks specifically designed for deaf learners. On the other hand, supporting factors consist of a secure and inclusive school environment as well as active parental involvement in the educational process. These findings suggest the need for targeted teacher training and the development of inclusive instructional materials to enhance the quality of PAI learning for deaf students.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the concept of samsara in Buddhism and Hinduism by focusing on three aspects: (1) the existence of samsara in both religions, (2) the influence of samsara on their respective doctrinal and philosophical frameworks, and (3) a comparison between the interpretations of samsara in Buddhism and Hinduism. The research method used is qualitative, with a literature-based approach. The results indicate that although samsara appears in both traditions with similar functions as a cycle of rebirth and suffering caused by karma, the final interpretations differ. In Hinduism, samsara is viewed as a form of punishment from past lives, which continues through repeated births until one’s sins are cleansed this process is closely related to the doctrine of punarbhava (reincarnation), and forms one of the five core beliefs (panca sraddha). In contrast, Buddhism interprets samsara not as divine punishment, but as a state of suffering rooted in ignorance and desire. It is classified into six realms of existence three lower (hell beings, hungry ghosts, animals) and three higher (humans, demigods, gods). These distinctions reflect the doctrinal emphasis each religion places on the nature of existence and liberation.

Abstract

Religious moderation refers to an attitude or perspective that emphasizes balance and tolerance in religious life, particularly in navigating diversity across ethnicity, religion, race, and culture. In Indonesia, the Ahmadiyya sect has been widely rejected by the public and government authorities, largely due to its classification as deviant by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The Indonesian government has officially prohibited the dissemination of Ahmadiyya teachings, a policy that has sparked divergent public responses. While some community groups supported the ban and demanded stricter enforcement, others viewed it as a violation of fundamental human rights, particularly the right to freedom of religion and belief. This article employs a qualitative literature review approach with a descriptive method to objectively present the facts surrounding the issue. It aims to offer a deeper understanding of how religious freedom can be upheld within a pluralistic society, and how constructive criticism rooted in the principles of religious moderation can address religious tensions. The study seeks to contribute to fostering a more tolerant and inclusive Indonesian society by proposing informed solutions to conflicts surrounding the recognition of minority religious groups.
