Abstract

Adolescent girls frequently experience dysmenorrhea, characterized by painful menstrual cramps that can disrupt daily routines, academic performance, and overall well‑being. Limited awareness of effective prevention and self‑care strategies often exacerbates the severity of symptoms, underscoring the need for comprehensive education on menstrual pain management. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge of adolescent girls about dysmenorrhea and its relationship with factors such as Body Mass Index (BMI), diet, menstrual duration, and menstrual cycle. Methods: This study used a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 85 female adolescent respondents were included in this study. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed in the form of frequency distribution. Results: The results showed that 67.1% of respondents had a sufficient level of knowledge about dysmenorrhea. A total of 25.9% of respondents experienced dysmenorrhea, and the majority of them had a sufficient level of knowledge. The majority of respondents had normal BMI (48.2%), a regular diet (71.8%), menstrual duration < 7 days (85.9%), and a regular menstrual cycle (70.6%), with most in each category showing a sufficient level of knowledge. Conclusion: Adolescent girls generally have a moderate level of knowledge about dysmenorrhea, which appears to be influenced by nutritional status, diet, and menstrual patterns. Improving reproductive health education can help enhance their ability to manage dysmenorrhea effectively.

Abstract

Self-care management is a crucial element in Diabetes Mellitus (DM) control, but is influenced by internal factors such as disease perception and duration of illness. This study aims to analyze the relationship between disease perception and duration of suffering with self-care management in patients with DM in Rimbo Recap Village, South Curup District, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province. Methods: This research design is quantitative cross- sectional with a sample of 60 DM patients selected by purposive sampling from the patient list of the Watas Marga Health Center. Results: There is a significant relationship between disease perception (p = 0.002) and duration of suffering (p = 0.000) with self-care management in patients with DM. Conclusion: Continuous educational interventions and psychosocial strategies are recommended to improve positive perceptions and maintain long-term self-care behaviors.

Abstract

Response time in the emergency department plays a crucial role in determining patient outcomes. Factors such as age, gender, experience, and emergency training may influence the speed of healthcare workers' responses. This study used a cross-sectional quantitative design involving 36 healthcare workers in the emergency department. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire covering demographics, experience, and participation in emergency training, and analyzed using the chi-square test (p<0.05). Results showed that most respondents demonstrated fast response times. Significant associations were found between response time and age (p=0.041), emergency experience (p=0.003), and training participation (p=0.029), but not with gender (p=0.273). These findings highlight the importance of hands-on experience and regular training in enhancing healthcare workers' preparedness and responsiveness in critical situations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of hemoglobin levels and motivation on students' physical fitness. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design and involved 60 students as respondents who were randomly selected through random sampling techniques. The variables studied consisted of hemoglobin levels measured with a hemoglobinometer, motivation levels measured using a questionnaire with a Likert scale, and physical fitness measured through physical tests which included running 1,600 meters, push-ups, and sit-ups. The results of bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between hemoglobin levels and students' physical fitness (p = 0.003). In addition, the study also showed a significant relationship between motivation and students' physical fitness (p = 0.001). Students with high motivation had better physical fitness, with most being in the good (18.3%) and moderate (16.7%) categories. The results of this study confirmed that sufficient hemoglobin and high motivation play an important role in supporting students' physical fitness. This study provides important insights into the factors that influence students' physical fitness in an educational setting.

Abstract

The performance of paramedics, especially nurses and midwives, is essential to the quality of hospital health services. This study aims to examine the influence of interpersonal communication, professionalism, and competence on the monitoring system and nurse performance at at Dr. H. Soewondo Kendal Regional Hospital. Using a quantitative approach with SEM-PLS and WarpPLS 5.0, data from 110 paramedics (92 nurses and 18 midwives) were analyzed. The results show that interpersonal communication, professionalism, and competence significantly influence the monitoring system (R² = 0.79), which in turn positively affects nurse performance (R² = 0.73). However, competence does not have a significant direct effect on performance without the mediation of the monitoring system. These findings suggest that improving internal factors along with an effective monitoring system can enhance overall paramedic performance and support hospital management in optimizing human resources.

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic condition commonly experienced by the elderly and poses a significant risk of serious complications if left untreated. One effective non-pharmacological intervention for managing blood pressure is elderly exercise. This study aims to determine the effect of elderly exercise on reducing blood pressure among hypertension patients in North Cimpu Village, Suli District, Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The research design used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 21 elderly individuals aged 45 years and over. Data were collected by measuring blood pressure before and after the elderly exercise intervention. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed a significant effect of elderly exercise in lowering both systolic and diastolic blood pressure (p = 0.000). These findings suggest that elderly exercise is an effective strategy for reducing blood pressure and can be recommended as a promotive and preventive effort for managing hypertension in the elderly population.
