Abstract

The objectives of this study is to find out is there a significant effect of using drill method toward writing descriptive text at the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan. This research is made by using experimental method. The purpose is to know the effect of drill method in writing descriptive text. Thus, the data in this research belongs to the writing descriptive text. In this research, the Seventh Grade Students of SMP Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan have position as population with 180 students. Therefore, sample in this research is taken by using random sampling or 45 students. Furthermore, the writer uses test as the instrument to collect the data in which the test divided to pre-test and post-test. The writer uses descriptive and statistic analysis to analyze the data. Based on the descriptive analyzed, the writer shows that the average scores which got by students in X variable is 70.11 in which this score categorized to the good category. Abstract

Abstract English is one of the compulsory subjects studied by students of Islamic junior high schools (madrasah tsanawiyah). Madrasah Tsanawiyah is equivalent to junior high school. Although students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah have been studying English since elementary school for several years, many students cannot achieve the desired communicative level. This happens because teaching English in a foreign context to Madrasah Tsanawiyah students is not an easy thing to do. However, it seems that English teachers struggle to teach their students effectively. Many challenging situations in EFL classes at Madrasah affect learning and teaching. English teachers have limited time to teach and students have very limited English learning goals. Some challenges faced by English teachers in Madrasah include curriculum, textbooks, qualified teachers, lack of support, and affective administration. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the challenges of teaching English in Madrasah Tsanawiyah including challenges in teaching English at school, types of challenges in teaching English, and previously related research.

Abstract

This research aims to develop assessment of the circle material of 8th grade which is valid, reliable and practical. The development procedure includes three main stages, including preliminary stage, development stage and evaluation stage, by adopting development model of Djemari Mardhapi. The sample of the research was VIII grade students, amounting to 62 students of SMP Negeri 1 Takengon. The content validity was performed by expert judgment which was analyzed by using Aiken's V formula, the reliability of expert judgment was analyzed by using Eble formula through Two Way Anova. The constructs validity by using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and the reliability of the test was analyzed by using Alpha formula proved by the SPSS v.18 program. The results of the content validity indicate that all developed items test are valued > 0.3 and stated having adequate content validity. The reliability result of expert judgment obtains a coefficient > 0.6 that indicates that the three experts are consistent in providing an assessment. The results of construct validity obtain KMO coefficient above 0.5 so that the test item can be analyzed further. The estimation result of alpha reliability obtains coefficient of 0.748 with reliability coefficient category which is acceptable. The results of practicality test show the developed performance test is in the very practical category.

Abstract

The quality of learning in schools is highly dependent on several factors. A very important factor, among others, is the implementation of a quality improvement school culture. School culture is a positive thing that must be maintained and implemented by all school members without feeling forced. One of the school cultures that must be maintained is the issue of discipline, including the discipline of teachers in class attendance in the teaching and learning process. To improve the discipline of teachers can be pursued in various ways. In this School Action Research (PTS), an action was tried in the form of implementing Reward and Punishment for teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Padang Gelugur, Pasaman Regency. This research was carried out in two cycles, because from the results of research and data analysis, it turned out that in the second cycle, teacher discipline in class attendance in the teaching and learning process increased and met the predetermined indicators of 75%. From the results of this study, it can be said that to improve teacher discipline in the classroom in teaching and learning activities can be done by applying Rewards and Punishments to teachers.

Abstract

A typical educational institution in Aceh called Dayah is an institution that initially positioned itself as an educational center for cadre of scholars. Its presence as an Islamic educational institution in Aceh can be estimated almost simultaneously with the presence of Islam in the archipelago. Dayah has four very significant uses for the people of Aceh, namely as a center of religious learning, as a bulwark against forces against colonial penetration, as an agent of development, and as a school for the community. In its development, the religion of Islam continues to progress and is deeply rooted in society through the roles and struggles of the ulama. This is done together with the educational institution he built, nurtured and fostered, namely Dayah. This educational institution in addition to acting as a place for learning and educating cadres of ulama and Acehnese leaders on an ongoing basis also plays a major role as a social institution that provides many services and initiatives for the empowerment of the surrounding community. It is proven that not only in the past, but until now, dayah alumni not only act as educators but also as role models for the community.

Abstract

Principal leadership is an important force in the context of school management. Therefore, the ability to lead effectively is the main key to being a successful leader. To convey the regulations that have been set and which will be implemented, communication is needed. By using descriptive qualitative research using observation instruments, interviews and document studies, it is known that the principal's communication in disseminating the regulations at MTsN Besitang is verbal and non-verbal. Verbal communication is done orally and in writing. While non-verbal communication in the form of action. The principal as the top leadership of the school institution not only gives orders to his subordinates, but he also carries out directly as uswah for staff, teachers and students. Verbal and non-verbal communication is done using techniques such as Informative, Instructive and Human Relations. When this technique is used to achieve the effectiveness of communication carried out in disseminating the rules at school. it is known that the communication has been effective, seen from the lack of students and teachers who commit violations every year. It is known that communication plays an important role in their compliance in implementing existing regulations.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan minat belajar matematika dengan penerapan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi dengan Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap peserta didik kelas X di SMAN 2 Palembang. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Subjek pada penelitian ini yaitu peserta didik kelas X.10 SMAN 2 Palembang yang berjumlah 48 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan angket. Penerapan strategi PBL dan pendekatan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi diharapkan mampu memberikan peningkatan minat belajar peserta didik. Dalam konteks ini, perhatian, ketertarikan, keterlibatan, dan perasaan senang peserta didik diukur sebagai indikator minat belajar. Hasil analisis menunjukkan peningkatan pada semua aspek minat belajar, dengan pra siklus sebesar 68,2%, siklus I sebesar 69,2%, siklus II sebesar 72,5%, dan siklus III sebesar 78,5%. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa metode PBL dan pendekatan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi memiliki dampak positif dalam merangsang minat belajar peserta didik terhadap matematika.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan menggunakan empat tahapan yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara, observasi dan data tes evaluasi. Hasil penelitian menemukan tahap observasi Pra Siklus sebanyak 10 siswa yang tuntas sedangkan sisanya 33 tidak tuntas. Selain itu, hasil asesmen gaya belajar menujukkan gaya 12 siswa gaya belajar visual dan 31 siswa lainnya visual auditori. Pada Siklus I didapat nilai terendah yaitu 33,3 tertinggi 83,3 rata rata 60,5, selain itu terdapat 26 siswa yang telah mencapai kriteria kelulusan atau sebesar 60,5 % dan terdapat 17 siswa yang masih belum mencapai kriteria kelulusan sebesar 39,5%. Sedangkan pada siklus II nilai terendah yaitu 50 dan nilai tertinggi 100 dengan nilai rata rata yaitu 79,2 dimana terdapat 37 orang siswa yang mencapai kriteria kelulusan atau sebesar 86% dan juga 6 orang siswa yang belum mencapai kelulusan sebesar 14%. Temuan lain pada siklus III didapat nilai terendah yaitu 50 dan nilai tertinggi 100 kemudian didapat nilai rata rata yaitu 83,3 dimana ada 40 orang siswa yang mencapai KKTP atau sebesar 93% dan juga 3 orang siswa yang belum mencapai KKTP atau sebesar 7%. Secara keseluruhan persentase keberhasilan aktivitas siswa untuk siklus I terlihat masih rendah yaitu 56,16% menglami peningkatan pada siklus II dan III menjadi 75,23% dan 89,19 %. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model problembased learning (PBL) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan matematika siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 2 Palembang.
