Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the achievement of empowerment indicators (degree and empowerment bases) of community empowerment programs. This study was a survey research with quantitative research approaches. The respondents, consist of 60 people, were taken with multistage sample random sampling techniques (simple random stratified). The samples were subjected to community members or beneficiaries of community empowerment programs undertaken in the Banjarmasin City and Tanah Laut District. The results showed that the level of community empowerment at the Urban Poverty Program (P2KP), which was conducted in Banjarmasin City, could not afford the empower its targeted communities or beneficiaries, so the program could not deserve to be called as the community empowerment program. Similarly, the National Program for Community SelfEmpowerment – Sub-districts Program Development (PNPM-PPK) that held in the Tanah Laut District was also unable to empower its targeted communities or beneficiaries, so it could not deserve to be called as a community empowerment program. Group dynamics and the role of facilitators were the factors that affect the empowerment.

Abstract

The purposes of this study are to know the implementation of superior paddy seedling farming, and to analize the components of costs, revenues, income, profit and feasibility its farming. Technically, the farming technique of superior paddy between seedling and consumption purpose is almost similiar. The difference is only the seeds for superior paddy's seedling farming use the Stock Seeds (SS) class. The survey technique was used, and 43 farmers, who grew superior paddy for seedling purpose on Dry Season 2010, were selected purposively as respondents. The result revealed that he average total cost, production, revenue, income and profit per hectare was Rp 7,543,566; 2,324.37 kg; Rp 10,459,664; Rp 5,452,425; Rp 2,916,098, respectively. The average of RCR value was 1.37, which indicated that the superior paddy's seedling farming was financially feasible. Based on this study, government should determine the policy for certified-seed price certainty, in order to attract the farmers.

Abstract

The study aims are: (1) knowing the efficiency of business of Badan Kredit Kecamatan (BKK), as well as the factors influence it; (2) to obtain the optimal picture of the income scale in each Badan Kredit Kecamatan; and (3) knowing the condition of Badan Kredit Kecamatan that measured by the liquidity ratio, solvency, and rentability, in the business district and the impact of the credit agencies on the technical efficiency. The primary data were collected from all (30) credit agencies in the 5 counties and secondary data collected from Bank Pendapatan Daerah. The technical efficiency was determained by the approach of deterministic production function frontier with the function of rayhomothetic whereas the financial analysis performed by the ratios. The results showed that all free variables were directly proportional and have real effect on the gross revenue of Badan Kredit Kecamatan. From the efficiency measuring, it was known that 93.33% of BKK have smaller efficiency index rather than the mean index of efficiency. About 76.67% of BKK were in a state of decreasing return to scale, which means that Badan Kredit Kecamatan in South of Kalimantan was not been efficient yet. That meant that the integration between input factor and technology used has not been reached the optimum, yet. The efficiency of Badan Kredit Kecamatan, significantly and positively, influenced by the state of liquidity and the number of business customer units that trained by the Badan Kredit Kecamatan, while solvability factors showed negative effect on the efficiency. With the condition of the BKK, it can be concluded that the BKK in South of Kalimantan is should to be increased.

Abstract

The purposes of this study are to determine the costs, revenue, net income and feasibility of honey pineapple farming in the Kecamatan Basarang, Kabupaten Kapuas, Central Kalimantan. Proportionate random sampling was used to determine the sample, which 15% of population was taken. The results showed that the average cost was Rp. 33,958,066 per hectare including the land rent, or Rp 24,958,066 without land rent. The average revenue was Rp. 102,000,000 per hectare. Furthermore, the average profit / net income obtained was Rp. 68,041,934 per hectare for 28 months (2 years and four months). The feasibility criteria were determined by using investment criteria, that were: NPV, BCR and profit rate. The NPV, BCR and profit rate was Rp 53,658,538; 2.8; and 200%, respectively. Thus, the overall indicators indicated that honey pineapple farming was financially feasible. The increasing in production cost and the decreasing in benefit were not change the feasibility rate.

Abstract

Tidal area is one of agricultural resources which have high economic value if it is managed well. However, as marginal land, its development meets few challenges. One of them is low productivity because of input use efficiency. These research objectives are to analyze factors which influence the production of tidal rice farming, its technical efficiency level and the factors which influence this efficiency. Data from previous study were used after the data were modified based on the research objectives. The data were analized by stochastic production frontier to determine the factors and the level of technical efficiency. The result showed that seeds, fertilizers, pestisides, and labor affected rice production significantly. The level of farmer’s technical efficiency was very high, where it was not significantly influence by farmer’s age, education and dependency ratio. The study also suggested that farmer should use more organic fertilizer. The availability of skilled labor in agriculture sholud be concerned by government.

Abstract

The study aims are to analyze revenue, profitability and feasiability; to analyze the return for the production factors as well as knowing the problems faced by farmers in growing paddy. The study ws conducted in Kabupaten Banjar because this regency is one of rice production center in South Kalimantan. The respondents, were taken from 4 villages by using proportional random sampling. The results, by using the cost analysis, showed that the average income of paddy farmers was Rp. 6,649,249.84 per hectare, the average profit was Rp. 3,079,879.621 per hectare and RCR was 1.468 (per one unit of cost, make a profit of 46.8%). Although integrally paddy farming was profitable, but partially paddy farming in the study area was not economically advantageous, because the return for land, labor and capital were lower than its opportunity cost. Problems faced by paddy farmers were internal problem related to farm management, and external problems such as lack of price information and weaknesses in existing systems and institutions.
