Abstract

The fast fashion industry reaps the threat of increasingly complicated environmental damage, and thrift fashion is one of the sustainable fashion statements that students favor because of its affordable price. The primary purpose of this study is to describe the factors of purchasing decisions for thrift fashion products for undergraduate students of Fashion Education and find out the dominant factors. The method used is descriptive quantitative, which describes each factor based on the percentage value. The data collection technique was done by distributing questionnaires online to 100 respondents of S1 Fashion Education Study Program students at the State University of Malang from 2018 to 2022 who purchased thrift fashion products. Based on the results of data processing, it is confirmed that cultural factors, social factors, personal factors, and psychological factors have a significant effect on thrift fashion purchasing decisions. Cultural factors contribute 25%, social factors 24%, personal factors 25%, and psychological factors 26%. So, the factor that dominates purchases is psychological factors. This analysis is expected to be a reference for marketers to determine a more effective strategy. It is also valuable to the literature regarding thrift fashion consumption trends and sustainable fashion campaigns.

Abstract

This study explores the role of Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) in advancing sustainability within the fashion industry, particularly for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). As sustainability awareness grows among consumers and businesses, MSME fashion startups face unique challenges due to limited resources. Using a quantitative approach with SEM PLS tools, the study collected data through questionnaires from fashion MSMEs and analyzed the relationship between SHRM and sustainable practices. The findings show that SHRM practices, such as recruiting employees with sustainability awareness, providing relevant training, enhancing communication on sustainability goals, and offering incentives aligned with sustainability, positively impact sustainability outcomes. Hypothesis testing confirmed that SHRM has a significant effect, with a t-statistic of 58.166 and a p-value of 0.000, indicating a strong, positive influence on sustainability in the fashion sector. The study highlights the importance of a strategic HR approach in supporting MSME sustainability goals, benefiting social, economic, and environmental aspects. It concludes that integrating SHRM into MSME fashion startups can enhance their competitiveness and contribute positively to the industry’s sustainable growth. This research provides key insights for MSME leaders to implement HR strategies that strengthen both business and sustainability objectives.

Abstract

The development of white bread food products using mackerel tuna fish broth is a variation of innovation to produce a good nutritional value of animal protein. This research method uses experimental research methods. This research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) to see differences in texture, aroma, taste, water content, and development of white bread added to mackerel tuna fish broth by 36%, 42%, and 48%. Each treatment has two repetitions, followed by physical tests (white bread development volume), hedonic tests (texture, taste, and aroma), and chemical tests (water content). The data obtained were analyzed statically using the ANOVA test, then continued with the DMRT (Duncan's Multiple Range Test) test if there were differences. The research results showed significant differences in the organoleptic hedonic properties and chemical and physical tests of white bread development.

Abstract

The textile industry is one of the largest contributors to global waste, with a significant portion of this waste consisting of liquid byproducts from synthetic dyes that contain harmful chemicals. A sustainable alternative to reduce this type of waste is to replace synthetic dyes with natural dyes derived from plants. One eco-friendly dyeing method is the eco-print technique, which transfers colors and patterns directly onto fabric through contact with plant materials. This technique utilizes plant parts rich in color pigments, such as leaves, flowers, and bark. Eco-printed products have both aesthetic and market value, offering potential business opportunities. This article is based on a literature review of national and international journal sources and aims to highlight the potential of eco-printing as a profitable venture within the fashion industry.

Abstract

Climate change is becoming a global issue that increasingly affects various sectors worldwide, including infrastructure development in Indonesia. The livestock sector contributes to significant greenhouse gas emissions and impacts global warming from large amounts of animal waste. The increasing demand for red meat has made the price of meat expensive, causing inequality in food consumption. The disparity of consumption certainly requires a new solution to this euphoria, considering that the number of emissions produced by ruminant cattle farming is many times higher than soybean or rice crops. Plant-based mock meat is the right solution as an alternative to animal meat because it can reduce the demand for red meat in the market, which will reduce livestock gas emissions that can trigger climate change. Local plant-based mock meat can realize sustainable accessibility due to its availability and ease of obtaining it. This study aims to determine the level of formula and public acceptance of mock meat made from tempeh flour as a solution to realize food accessibility in reducing red meat consumption. The method used in this research was experimental by conducting a comparative trial of public acceptability of the four products studied with the control codes F10%, F20%, and F30%. Data analysis and processing techniques were carried out with One Way Anova Ranks, Kruskal Wallis method, and Dunn's further test. The results showed that the acceptance of panelists as many as 42 people gave the highest average favorability score and the overall selection was the experiment code F30% with a mean value of 4.6 which is close to the assessment of very like compared to other development products.

Abstract

Besurek Batik from Bengkulu, which has been resurrected in the modern period after a break dating back to 1600, served as the primary inspiration for the design of the INSCRIBED ready-to-wear collection for ladies. Besurek Batik contains key components, such as the Rafflesia arnoldii flower pattern and the Kaganga letter, which is unique to Bengkulu. The two components are then modernized through a combination of fabrics, material design, color combinations, and ready-to-wear morphologies for women, allowing them to exhibit current batik in a more appealing, modern, and acceptable manner to the urban community. The design details included the use of taffeta and organza fabrics, the application of material design in the form of a combination of color dipping techniques in cold and hot water, gutta resist painting for making the motifs also being the main dye, and French knott embroidery techniques. The combination of these techniques was poured into the INSCRIBED collection, which is ready-to-wear clothing for women aged 20-35 years old with modern, feminine, smart characters, and respect for local culture who live in urban Indonesia. The INSCRIBED collection as a whole is able to produce a traditional yet modern impression that is in line with the times and has high aesthetic value, this involves exploring how the collection successfully blends traditional elements of Besurek batik with Rafflesia arnoldii flower pattern and Kaganga letters to contemporary fashion design. The goal is to show how this fusion not only preserves cultural heritage but also makes it relevant and appealing to modern urban audiences. The PBL (Project Based Learning) technique is used to achieve final results by learning through real-world projects, including information search and data synthesis, material investigation, feasibility assessment, and design interpretation.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of incorporating diverse teaching methods into career development courses for students in beauty-related majors at a vocational college in Taiwan. A quasi-experimental design was employed, involving two third-year classes majoring in cosmetics application and management. The experimental group received diverse teaching strategies, while the control group followed traditional theoretical instruction. A "Career Development Scale" was used to assess students’ baseline knowledge, and pre-tests, mid-course tests, and post-tests were conducted. Quantitative data were analyzed using ANCOVA to compare the impact of the teaching methods on students' self-awareness, career awareness, and career planning skills. Findings suggest that diverse teaching methods, such as mock interviews and varied assessment strategies, significantly improve students' career readiness. The study recommends scheduling career development courses prior to internships, integrating visits and guest lectures, and incorporating digital tools like gaming devices to enhance student engagement and career planning outcomes. These approaches may better prepare students for the evolving demands of the beauty industry.
