Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has substantially affected the behavior and social interactions of elementary school students, particularly through the increasing intensity of social media use. This situation presents a dual challenge: it enables the improvement of digital literacy while simultaneously exposing children to the risks of digital addiction, exposure to inappropriate content, and cyberbullying. In response to these emerging challenges, a community service program was conducted by KKN MWC NU in Semboro Village, implemented at SDN 04 Semboro on August 15, 2025. The primary objective of this activity was to cultivate early awareness and understanding of ethical and responsible social media use among elementary school students. The methods employed included structured presentations on the impacts of social media, interactive discussions to evaluate comprehension, and educational games to foster engagement in the learning process. The results indicated that approximately 80% of fifth- and sixth-grade students possessed personal digital devices and actively accessed social media, yet lacked sufficient awareness of digital ethics. After the intervention, students demonstrated heightened enthusiasm, improved understanding of ethical online behavior, and increased awareness regarding responsible screen time management. The evaluation outcomes confirmed the effectiveness of the program in enhancing digital literacy and promoting wise, healthy, and productive social media practices among children. These findings highlight the importance of early digital education as a preventive strategy against the negative impacts of unregulated social media use

Abstract

Indonesia is highly vulnerable to various hydrometeorological disasters, particularly flash floods, which frequently result in significant human, environmental, and economic losses. Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh Province, is among the regions exposed to recurrent flooding, underscoring the urgent need to strengthen disaster risk reduction through early educational interventions. This community engagement program aimed to provide flash-flood mitigation education within the framework of sustainable development to sixth-grade students at State Elementary School 6 Meureudu. The program involved 25 students and adopted a participatory educational approach comprising interactive lectures, group discussions, audiovisual learning materials, disaster simulations, question-and-answer sessions, and reflective feedback activities. The educational materials covered the basic concepts of flash floods, their causal factors, early warning signs, appropriate mitigation measures before, during, and after disaster events, and the importance of environmental stewardship as an integral component of sustainable development. The implementation results indicated substantial improvements in students' understanding of flash flood characteristics, their ability to recognize early warning signs, and their knowledge of appropriate self-protection measures during emergencies. Moreover, participants demonstrated greater environmental awareness and actively engaged throughout the learning process. The findings suggest that participatory disaster education provides an effective contextual learning strategy for primary school students and has considerable potential to foster a culture of disaster preparedness from an early age. Furthermore, strengthening students' disaster preparedness capacities may contribute to broader community resilience by transferring knowledge to families and surrounding communities, thereby supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals.

Abstract

Flood disasters can severely disrupt access to essential healthcare services, particularly in vulnerable communities where health facilities and infrastructure are damaged. In November 2025, Tropical Cyclone Senyar caused extensive flooding in Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh, resulting in disruption of healthcare access in Blang Awe Village. This community service program aimed to restore access to essential health services through an integrated post-disaster health intervention consisting of general health screening, maternal and child health (MCH) services, and medical circumcision. A participatory action approach was implemented from February 1–20, 2026, involving collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Syiah Kuala, Pidie Jaya District General Hospital, village authorities, and community health workers. The intervention included health screening, antenatal care (ANC), health education, and medical circumcision. Program outcomes were evaluated based on service achievement, community participation, stakeholder feedback, and perceived benefits. A total of 97 participants underwent health screening, identifying a high burden of non-communicable diseases, including hypertension (45%) and hypercholesterolemia (55.6%). ANC services were provided to 11 pregnant women with high-risk conditions identified, including suspected gestational diabetes and mild hypertension. Medical circumcision was successfully performed for eight school-aged children without complications. The program met its targets and received positive feedback from community stakeholders, indicating strong acceptance and perceived benefits. This integrated intervention successfully addressed healthcare gaps following flood-related disruption of health infrastructure by supporting continuity of essential services, improving early detection of health risks, and strengthening community resilience. Long-term sustainability requires strengthening local health worker capacity, referral systems, and integration into primary healthcare services.

Abstract

Lamreh Village is a coastal village with significant fisheries potential in Aceh Besar Regency, Aceh Province. This fishery's potential can be developed as a source of community economic development based in Minneapolis. However, this potential has not been fully utilized to date. One effort is to develop micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) based on processed fish products. The main problems faced by the local community include limited capacity to process fish products, weak business management skills, and the absence of a sustainable business model. This community service activity aims to increase the Lamreh community's capacity to develop MSMEs based on processed fish products through training, mentoring, and collaboration with industry partners and training institutions. The implementation method involves field surveys, problem identification, fish product processing training, Business Model Canvas (BMC) training, direct practice in the fish processing industry, and activity evaluation. The results of the activity show an increase in community capacity in fish product processing, as seen from the number of participants who have established fish processing businesses after the training, the formation of the Lamuri MSME, increased participation of women's groups in productive economic activities, and the opening of opportunities for collaboration with the fish processing industry and training institutions. Successfully developed products include fish balls, fish spring rolls, and fish floss. This community empowerment program has also successfully raised awareness in Gampong Lamreh of the importance of sustainable, locally based business development to support community well-being.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has encouraged an increase in entrepreneurial activities among Generation Z by utilizing various e-commerce platforms that are currently widely circulated among the public. However, the use of Facebook's Marketplace is still relatively low compared to other platforms. Even though the Facebook marketplace platform has various advantages, such as no administration fees, transparent bargaining, product transparency, a Cash on Delivery (COD) payment system, and making it easier to reach the local market, this condition shows that efforts are needed so that Generation Z understands the potential of the Facebook Marketplace in supporting digital entrepreneurship. This service activity aims to improve the understanding and skills of Generation Z in utilizing the Facebook Marketplace application as an alternative medium for buying and selling transactions in today's digital age. The method of implementing activities includes: preparation, socialization, training, and practice assistance, as well as evaluation and non-continuation of activities. The number of participants involved in this activity was 20 participants from Generation Z who lived in the city of Banda Aceh. The results of the activity showed that participants were able to understand the various benefits and advantages of using the Facebook Marketplace. Not only that, but participants were also able to quickly operate the Facebook Marketplace application independently and quickly learn about the series of product sales in the application. The evaluation of this activity showed that the participants were very enthusiastic about using this application to support their work as traders. Thus, this service activity has been carried out on target in increasing digital literacy to Generation Z. It is hoped that this understanding can also be passed on to other Generation Z in various regions in Indonesia as a form of supporting economic sustainability in the younger generation.

Abstract

Worker recruitment patterns and career development are now greatly influenced by the development of digital technology. Therefore, it is necessary to develop abilities and skills in final year students as an effort to build a professional image starting from college until after they graduate. At this time, there are still many final year students who do not understand the concept of personal branding and have not utilized the LinkedIn digital platform website optimally as the main means of their career development. This community service activity aims to increase participants' understanding of the importance of personal branding and their ability to manage the LinkedIn website as a means of providing a professional image to support their careers in the future. The service method applied has 4 stages, namely: 1. Preparation stage, 2. Discussion stage, 3. Practice/mentoring stage and 4. Evaluation stage. This activity will be carried out in June 2026 with the target of service being final year students. The results of the service showed that at first, the final year students did not understand the theme of personal branding and the use of LinkedIn. After the service was carried out, participants experienced an increase in knowledge and understanding of the importance of personal branding in supporting their careers in the future. Not only that, but participants are also able to optimize LinkedIn profiles to support their professional image displayed on the LinkedIn website. This is evidenced by compiling profiles, abouts, and other identities filled in on the LinkedIn website. At the end of this activity, an evaluation of the activity was carried out. Evaluations were carried out with participants who participated in this series of activities. The results of the evaluation show that there is a change in the mindset and thinking pattern of participants who now consider personal branding on the LinkedIn website important, so that this will affect their future decisions to improve their professional image through relevant activities.
