Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine how strong and significant the correlation test between the variables of literacy ability and happiness ranking of each country statistically. In this regard, the literacy and reading ability assessment conducted by PISA in 2018 showed that Indonesia was ranked 74 out of 79 countries. Lack of reading skills can lead to un-favorable effects in the future. Especially regarding aspects of human development, human resources and mental well-being. Previously, there were several studies that attempted to examine the correlation between reading proficiency and well-being. However, no one has yet used widely available secondary data. In particular, the first is for reading assessment data from PISA and second, the Happiness World Report, both of which were conducted in 2018. This study uses a quantitative method with statistical analysis of the spearman correlation. Then, as additional information, the researchers also looked at the results of the simple regression or R2 statistical test. The results showed a positive and significant correlation between reading proficiency and happiness. With a correlation level or R value of .479** (p<.001) and an R2 adjustment value of 0.209**. Thus, the researchers concluded that reading proficiency from PISA proved to be correlated with each country's happiness ranking with moderate strength.

Abstract

This study investigated forgiveness dynamics among adolescents in managing interpersonal conflicts both social media and within family settings, their impact on mental health. Using a phenomenological approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 adolescents aged 13–18 years in Gorontalo City, selected purposively based on their significant conflict experiences. Data were analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) through NVivo software to identify themes and sub-themes from their narratives. The findings highlighted forgiveness as a vital conflict resolution mechanism, particularly in mitigating the effects of conflicts stemming from social media and family disputes. Key themes included the detrimental impact of cyberbullying on mental health, forgiveness as a coping strategy to address emotional harm caused by online conflicts, and the role of forgiveness in improving family relationships. Social support and self-awareness were identified as crucial factors shaping adolescents' ability to forgive. This study fills a gap in the literature by exploring forgiveness within the dual contexts of social media and family, rarely examined together. It underscores forgiveness as a protective factor that mediates the emotional toll of conflicts, offering novel insights into adolescent mental health. The findings support the development of interventions promoting forgiveness to enhance emotional resilience and recommend further research to strengthen forgiveness as a pathway to improved adolescent well-being.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to explore the factors that make health workers continue to serve patients during the Covid-19 pandemic. Although there are quite a number of studies that have had a pandemic impact on health workers, there is still a lack of research showing the coping strategies of health workers to continue serving patients, especially in Indonesia. In this study, the number of participants as many as 56 health workers who were active during the Covid-19 pandemic were given one open question; “whatever you do to keep serving patients” which was then compiled by the researcher and processed into 10 main themes. Based on the qualitative analysis, the researcher found that the theme of taking care of oneself first and the meaning of life at work had a higher percentage than other themes. Further research is expected to provide assistance from the environment to support the management strategies of health workers working on the front lines.

Abstract

The aim of this research is 3, namely identifying the reasons for students to travel, knowing the meaning of being away from home and how they overcome it. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive phenomenological approach. The results of this study show that the reason they migrate is to be more successful and independent, then also far from home is interpreted as a condition of homesickness which often causes negative emotions to disrupt daily activities. The way they deal with it is to let the feeling disappear over time and also social support.

Abstract

Gen Z is a digital generation that tends to behave in a consumptive manner because it is influenced by a digital lifestyle as evidenced by data on buying and selling via e-commerce which is dominated by Gen Z with a percentage of 77%. This study aims to determine how strong the relationship is between self-control and consumptive behavior in e-commerce among Gen Z students. The research method used is a quantitative method with a correlational design. The respondents in this study numbered 63 people who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The results of the Spearman Rank data analysis showed that there was no significant relationship between self-control and consumptive behavior (p = 0.981). These results indicate that there are other factors such as gender, emotional motivation, and social norms that influence a person's consumptive behavior. So it is hoped that further researchers can explore other variables that can influence a person's consumptive behavior.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to explore the relationship between emotional maturity and marital quality through a systematic review of 30 selected scientific articles. The findings reveal that emotional maturity positively correlates with marriage readiness, relationship harmony, marital adjustment, conflict management, and marital satisfaction. Furthermore, emotional maturity is influenced by factors such as family background, mental health, education, age, and premarital experiences. Interventions such as communication skills training, cognitive-behavioral training, and premarital counseling have been shown to be effective in enhancing emotional maturity among couples. These findings highlight the critical role of emotional maturity in building healthy and sustainable marital relationships and provide recommendations for developing more systematic premarital intervention programs. Future research is encouraged to adopt longitudinal approaches and to consider more diverse cultural and gender contexts. Keywords: emotional maturity, marriage readiness, marital satisfaction, marital adjustment, marital conflict

This study systematically examines the influence of social embeddedness on thriving at work using a PRISMAbased systematic literature review. Articles retrieved from Scopus, SINTA, and Google Scholar (2020–2025), nine relevant studies were selected. Abstract

This study systematically examines the concept of toxic positivity, a condition in which excessive optimism suppresses emotional authenticity and undermines psychological well-being. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA 2020 framework, eight peer-reviewed studies published between 2020 and 2024 were analyzed. Data were collected from Scopus, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and Taylor & Francis Online, and assessed through the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP) checklist. Thematic synthesis identified three dominant patterns: emotional suppression as a maladaptive coping mechanism, digital culture reinforcing the “happiness imperative,” and workplace norms promoting emotional labor and burnout. The findings demonstrate that toxic positivity functions as a socially reinforced emotional bias that negatively affects mental health and organizational well-being. This review emphasizes the need for balanced emotional expression and offers practical insights for developing psychologically sustainable environments in both digital and occupational contexts.

Abstract

Positive psychology originally developed within Western cultures, emphasizing individual happiness and personal achievement. However, the collectivist context of Asian cultures reveals different interpretations of well-being. This study aims to explore how Western concepts of positive psychology occurred in Asian cultures and their implications for cross-cultural theory development. Using an integrative review method, 6 relevant studies were analyzed, covering Asian contexts such as Malaysia, China, Indonesia, and other regions. The review includes both quantitative and qualitative studies. Findings indicate that Asian cultures define positive psychology through social harmony, spirituality, and life balance, whereas Western cultures emphasize happiness as personal fulfillment and stable positive emotions. Despite these differences, both perspectives agree that happiness and well-being are desirable. Within Asia, variations exist such as East Asia emphasizes moral harmony and inner balance, Southeast Asia highlights spirituality and connectedness, and South Asia focuses on spiritual transcendence. These findings affirm that positive psychology is culturally contextual and should be adapted to local, collectivist values. Practically, the study encourages the development of culturally grounded positive psychology interventions that integrate social, familial, and spiritual values.
