Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of sharia financial management at the Finance Bureau and Business Entity (BKBU) of Bustanul Ulum Mlokorejo Islamic Boarding School. As a religiousbased educational institution, the application of sharia principles in financial management is essential to ensure accountability, transparency, and operational sustainability. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and documentation. The informants consisted of BKBU management and service users, particularly those involved in KBIHU (Hajj and Umrah Guidance Group) activities. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that BKBU has implemented sharia financial management principles, including the prohibition of riba, and the application of honesty (ṣidq), trustworthiness (amānah), and transparency in financial recording and reporting. Financial management is carried out through systematic stages, including planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation. The institution demonstrates both technical and allocative efficiency, although limitations in resources still affect optimal fund distribution in certain programs. Furthermore, periodic financial reporting and stakeholder involvement contribute to strengthening institutional accountability. This study contributes to the discourse on Islamic financial management in educational institutions by providing empirical evidence that the integration of sharia principles with modern management practices enhances financial governance. It also highlights the importance of human resource competence, administrative systems, and the adoption of simple digital tools in supporting effect

Abstract

The increasing complexity of the ecological crisis requires active engagement from various institutions, including Islamic educational institutions such as pesantren, in fostering environmentally responsible behavior grounded in religious values. This study aims to analyze the role of Bustanul Ulum Mlokorejo Islamic Boarding School in responding to the ecological crisis and to examine the integration of Islamic values in shaping ecotheological awareness within the pesantren environment. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with pesantren administrators, kyai, and students, as well as document and literature analysis. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns in the integration of religious values and ecological practices. The findings reveal that the pesantren has implemented several environmentally oriented practices, including waste management, routine communal work, independent water resource utilization, and reforestation initiatives. These practices reflect the emergence of ecological awareness rooted in Islamic values such as tauhid (oneness of God), khalifah (stewardship), amanah (trust), tawazun (balance), zuhud (simplicity), and the prohibition of fasad (destruction). However, the integration of these values remains largely implicit and has not yet been formally institutionalized within the curriculum or governance system. Furthermore, limited environmental literacy, resource constraints, and the absence of structured policies constitute major challenges in strengthening the role of pesantren as centers of ecotheological education. This study contributes to the development of Islamic ecotheology by emphasizing the importance of integrating religious values with institutional management systems in fostering sustainable ecological awareness. It also offers practical implications for developing a more systematic and structured ecotheology-based pesantren model that is responsive to contemporary environmental challenges.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of algorithm-driven digital platforms has reshaped the epistemic landscape of Islamic da'wah. In this environment, the credibility of religious messages is no longer determined solely by scholarly authority, but increasingly by the logic of algorithmic visibility, audience engagement patterns, and the performative attributes of digital preachers. This study examines how da'wah credibility is constructed, negotiated, and contested within the algorithmic public sphere, and how digital literacy functions as a critical mediating factor for both preachers and audiences. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, digital observations, and documentation involving ten digital preachers, fifteen active social-media users, and two digital-literacy experts. The results indicate that algorithmic amplification favors emotional, sensational, and engagement-oriented religious content, often marginalizing substantive and scholarly-based da'wah. The study also reveals significant gaps in digital literacy among both preachers and audiences, contributing to the spread of religious misinformation and the emergence of popularity-based religious authority. This research contributes a novel integrative model that links credibility, algorithmic dynamics, and digital literacy within the digital da'wah ecosystem. The findings underscore the urgency of strengthening digital-literacy programs to maintain epistemic integrity, enhance critical consumption of religious content, and support responsible Islamic communication in an increasingly algorithm-governed public sphere.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of Islamic economic principles and local wisdom in damar plantation management in Pakel Guci Alit Village, as well as its implications for community welfare and interreligious harmony. Historically, the village's economic activities are closely linked to damar cultivation, which not only functions as the main economic source but also serves as a social arena fostering solidarity, tolerance, and community cohesion. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this research explores the experiences, perceptions, and collective meanings of community members through in-depth interviews, field observations, and participatory documentation. The findings indicate that the integration of sharia economic principles such as justice, trustworthiness, shura (consultation), proportional distribution, and prohibition of exploitation aligns with local wisdom practices including mutual cooperation, collective decision-making, and traditional communal rituals. These combined values create a sustainable, equitable, and inclusive economic governance system. The study further reveals that such value integration enhances not only economic productivity but also strengthens interreligious harmony, as socio-economic interactions occur within an ethical framework shared by all community members. This research contributes a new conceptual model of community-based economic development rooted in the synergy between religious values and local wisdom as a viable strategy for sustainable rural development.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Yanbu’a method in improving the quality of Qur’anic reading among female students at Darun Najah Islamic Boarding School, Lumajang. The study is grounded in the need for a structured and systematic approach to Qur’anic literacy, given the variability in students’ reading abilities and the limitations of traditional learning methods. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, this research explores the experiences and learning processes of instructors and students through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns in the implementation of the Yanbu’a method and its impact on students’ reading competencies. The findings indicate that the Yanbu’a method significantly enhances students’ Qur’anic reading skills across three key dimensions: tartīl (rhythmic and orderly recitation), faṣāḥah (articulatory accuracy), and tajwīd (rule-based recitation). The method integrates modeling, guided practice, and repetition within a structured multi-level system, enabling gradual skill development. Additionally, the effectiveness of the method is supported by factors such as disciplined learning routines, instructor competence, and a conducive pesantren environment. The study also reveals distinctive characteristics of female pesantren learning, including emotional scaffolding, consistent daily rhythms, and a supportive cultural ecology that strengthens learning outcomes. This study contributes to the development of Qur’anic pedagogy by proposing a comprehensive and context-based model of Yanbu’a implementation that integrates cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. It also offers practical implications for improving Qur’anic literacy programs in Islamic educational institutions, particularly in traditional female boarding school settings.
