Abstract

Oral and dental health is an important part of supporting children's growth and development. One simple way to maintain dental health is getting into the habit of brushing teeth regularly with the correct technique. However, school-age children still need education and guidance to have the right knowledge and skills in keeping their teeth and mouth clean. This community service activity aims to improve children's knowledge and skills in proper tooth brushing through education, demonstration, and hands-on practice. The activity was carried out at Kuncup Mekar Kindergarten in Sidorejo, using an educational and participatory approach that includes preparation, oral and dental health education, demonstration, tooth brushing practice, and evaluation. The material provided includes the importance of maintaining dental health, the right time to brush teeth, the use of toothbrushes and toothpaste, and techniques to clean teeth thoroughly. The results show that participants engaged in the activities enthusiastically and actively during both the educational sessions and practical exercises. Participants gained a better understanding of the importance of dental hygiene and were able to practice the steps of brushing teeth according to the given examples with guidance. Educational activities combined with demonstrations and hands-on practice can be an effective approach to instill knowledge and skills for maintaining dental health in children. The continuity of these activities needs to be supported through guidance from teachers and parents so that proper brushing habits can be applied regularly in daily life.

Abstract

Chicken manure waste generated by small-scale poultry farming is frequently left unmanaged, resulting in environmental pollution and persistent odor problems, despite its high nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium content that makes it suitable for organic fertilizer production. In Gadon Village, Cepu Subdistrict, Blora Regency, poultry farmers have not optimally processed this waste, leading to continued environmental contamination and dependence on chemical fertilizers. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of Gadon Village residents in converting chicken manure into organic fertilizer through an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, implemented in four stages: discovery (field observation and identification of local waste potential), dream (community discussions to explore residents' expectations and priorities regarding waste management), design (participatory formulation of the fertilizer production plan involving KKN students, the field supervisor, and village officials, with material selection based on recommendations from local resource persons), and destiny (outreach, material delivery by a resource person, and evaluation). The implementation faced several constraints, including limited processing time, unpleasant odor during the fermentation process, and limited availability of supporting materials. The result showed that 11 of 15 participants (73.33%) were able to explain the benefits and stages of organic fertilizer production after the outreach session. The fertilizer produced was subsequently tested on stevia seedlings as a practical demonstration of its application. These findings indicate that an asset-based approach can encourage rural communities to manage livestock waste independently and sustainably, with the program planned to continue through the expansion of organic fertilizer production and the establishment of a community-based production group.

Abstract

Kebonagung Village, Padangan Subdistrict, Bojonegoro Regency has various local potentials that can be developed as part of community-based tourism areas. However, these potentials have not yet been mapped in an integrated manner and are not supported by destination plans that can connect spatial aspects, local potentials, information, and the use of digital technology. This community service activity aims to map the tourism potential of the area and prepare a Digital Destination Blueprint as a basis for developing community-based tourism destinations in Kebonagung Village. The activity is carried out using a participatory approach through four stages: identifying and inventorying potentials, mapping tourism areas, preparing the Digital Destination Blueprint, and validation, socialization, and mentoring. Data collection is done through field observation, interviews, documentation, and Focus Group Discussions with the village government and community. The results of the activities showed that the mapping process successfully identified and grouped local potentials, accessibility, supporting facilities, as well as community economic activities that can be developed as components of a tourism area. The mapping results were then integrated into a Digital Destination Blueprint, which includes a map of potentials, area identity, destination narrative, digital information, division of community roles, and development directions for the destination. This activity shows that participatory mapping can be an initial tool to organize local potentials more systematically, while the Digital Destination Blueprint can serve as a reference for developing tourism areas that are integrated, community-based, and adaptive to the use of digital technology.

Abstract

Beji Village in Kedewan District, Bojonegoro Regency, holds a set of tourism assets that had never been managed as a single destination system: Tritis Cave, Remek Cave, the Bulu Beji geological formation, smallholder coffee and avocado plantations, and home-based micro enterprises producing rengginang and local coffee. These assets stood in isolation, without a mapped route, direction signage, an active tourism awareness group, or product packaging able to compete in the market. This community service programme aimed to initiate an integrated village tourism area by connecting those assets through a single trekking route branded Beji’s Fun Tracking. The programme was implemented from 29 July to 25 August 2026 using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach across five stages discovery, dream, design, delivery, and destiny involving the village government, the tourism awareness group (30 participants), micro enterprise operators (12 participants), the farmers group, youth organisations, and the district tourism office. Change was measured through a pre-post comprehension test, an indicator checklist verified in the field, observation, focus group discussion, and participant feedback. Beyond producing an eight-point route of roughly 3–4 km, three direction signs, an area map with four tourism package concepts, modern standing-pouch packaging for two flagship products, and a 2026–2031 development roadmap, the programme delivered measurable change for the community partners: the tourism awareness group’s comprehension of its role and inter-institutional partnership rose from 46 per cent to 88 per cent (a 42-point gain) and the group established four working divisions where none existed before, while the selling price of the two flagship products increased by 60–88 per cent after the packaging transition. The roadmap became the instrument that transfers the initiative from the student team to local institutions.
