Abstract

Tourism destination management based on local potential is essential for strengthening destination identity while increasing the benefits of tourism for local communities. This study aims to analyze local potential, community involvement, management constraints, and strategies for developing a tourism destination in Sade Village, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected in August 2025 through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation, involving 25 local residents as informants. The data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively through data organization, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through technique triangulation. The findings indicate that Sade Village possesses diverse local potential, including Sasak culture and traditions, weaving, handicrafts, culinary products, performing arts, agriculture, homestays, and community-based economic activities. A total of 20 informants (80%) were categorized as actively involved, while 5 informants (20%) were categorized as moderately active in activities related to local potential and tourism. The main constraints identified include promotion, access to capital, marketing, infrastructure, regeneration, equipment, and human resource capacity. The proposed strategies include enhancing community capacity, digitalization and promotion, developing local products, improving facilities and infrastructure, strengthening access to financing, and expanding marketing networks. The study concludes that tourism destination management based on local potential needs to be implemented in an integrated manner by positioning the local community as a key stakeholder in cultural preservation, product development, and the enhancement of tourism competitiveness.

Abstract

Destination development requires collaboration among government, tourism businesses, local communities, visitors, and supporting institutions. However, tourism development in many destinations remains fragmented because stakeholder interests, authority, and resources are not adequately integrated. This study aims to formulate a stakeholder collaboration-based model for sustainable destination development. The research employed a qualitative conceptual design through a systematic review of scientific articles concerning destination governance, stakeholder collaboration, community participation, and sustainable tourism. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis by identifying recurring concepts, relationships, and implementation mechanisms. The synthesis indicates that an effective destination development model consists of five interconnected components: stakeholder mapping, shared vision formulation, collaborative institutional arrangements, joint resource mobilization, and monitoring-evaluation. Community participation, transparency, trust, and digital communication function as strengthening factors, whereas power imbalance, sectoral ego, limited capacity, and weak accountability become major barriers. The proposed model contributes theoretically by integrating stakeholder theory and collaborative governance in the context of tourism destinations. Practically, it can guide local governments and destination management organizations in designing inclusive and sustainable development programs.

Abstract

Tourism destination competitiveness has become a critical determinant of tourist visit intention amid intensifying global competition. This study aims to analyze the influence of destination competitiveness dimensions—core resources and attractors, supporting factors and resources, destination management, and demand conditions—on tourist visit intention. Employing a quantitative explanatory design, data were collected through structured questionnaires from 285 domestic and international tourists who visited selected destinations in Indonesia between January and June 2025. Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) was used for data analysis. The results indicate that core resources and attractors as well as supporting factors exert the strongest positive and significant effects on visit intention, while destination management and demand conditions also contribute significantly, albeit to a lesser degree. The model explains 62.4% of the variance in tourist visit intention. These findings confirm that enhancing multidimensional competitiveness is essential for stimulating tourist interest and sustaining destination performance. The study contributes theoretically by integrating the Ritchie and Crouch competitiveness model with behavioral intention frameworks and offers practical implications for destination managers and policymakers in developing competitive and visitor-oriented tourism strategies.

Abstract

Tourism villages have an important role in strengthening local economies, preserving cultural and environmental resources, and promoting community-based tourism. However, the sustainability of tourism villages depends not only on the availability of attractions but also on effective destination governance, community participation, institutional capacity, and adaptive management. This study aims to analyze the tourism potential and governance challenges of Ketingan Tourism Village, Sleman, Yogyakarta, and formulate a sustainable destination governance strategy. The study employed a qualitative case study design using document analysis and literature review. Data were obtained from scientific articles, official tourism information, policy documents, and previous studies concerning Ketingan Tourism Village and sustainable tourism village governance. Data were analyzed through thematic analysis based on four dimensions: destination potential, institutional governance, community participation, and sustainability. The findings indicate that Ketingan possesses a distinctive ecological attraction associated with egret and pond heron habitats, supported by rural landscapes and local community resources. Nevertheless, its tourism development has experienced stagnation, reflected in weak tourism management structures, limited tourism products, insufficient promotion, declining community engagement, and environmental pressures. The study proposes a governance strengthening model based on institutional revitalization, ecological conservation, community empowerment, product diversification, digital promotion, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. The model is expected to support the transformation of Ketingan into a more adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable tourism destination.

Abstract

Tourism destinations are required to maintain management quality in order to create positive visitor experiences and encourage tourists to return. Lombok Wildlife Park is one of the wildlife-based tourism attractions in North Lombok that requires continuous management improvement to maintain visitor satisfaction and loyalty. This study aims to analyze the effect of destination management quality on tourists' revisit intention at Lombok Wildlife Park, North Lombok. A quantitative approach with a survey design was used. The study involved 40 respondents, consisting of visitors and destination management personnel for descriptive purposes. Data were collected using a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using validity testing, reliability testing, simple linear regression, t-test, and coefficient of determination. The simulated analysis showed that all indicators of destination management quality and revisit intention met the minimum validity and reliability criteria. Destination management quality had a positive and significant effect on revisit intention, with a regression coefficient of 0.607, t = 7.240, and p < 0.001. The coefficient of determination was 0.580, indicating that destination management quality explained 58.0% of the variation in revisit intention. The findings indicate that improvements in attraction management, facilities, service quality, environmental cleanliness, accessibility, and visitor safety can strengthen tourists' intention to revisit. Further research should employ a larger sample and include additional variables such as tourist satisfaction, destination image, memorable tourism experience, and perceived value.
