Abstract

Formative assessment is one of the assessment types in the Merdeka Curriculum that plays an important role in continuously monitoring students’ learning progress. It is considered more effective as it provides feedback that can be used to improve the learning process. This study aims to identify the challenges faced by teachers in implementing formative assessment within the Merdeka Curriculum and to examine possible solutions to enhance its effectiveness. This research employs a library research method, drawing on relevant sources such as books, journal articles, and academic documents related to formative assessment and its implementation challenges. The findings reveal that teachers still face several obstacles, including limited understanding of the concept, difficulties in selecting appropriate assessment techniques, high administrative workload, low digital literacy, and inadequate facilities and infrastructure. Efforts to address these challenges include improving teacher competence, providing adequate facilities, and strengthening collaboration among schools, parents, communities, and the government, so that formative assessment can be implemented effectively and optimally to improve the quality of learning.

Abstract

This study aims to map and analyze research trends on digital transformation and conflict management in Indonesian Islamic educational institutions in the context of the Society 5.0 era using a bibliometric review approach. Data from Scopus-indexed documents were analyzed using co-citation and bibliographic coupling techniques through VOSviewer to map the intellectual structure and research trends of digital transformation in Islamic education. The research methodology followed the PRISMA 2020 protocol by analyzing publications from Scopus and SINTA databases, with bibliometric visualization performed using VOSviewer 1.6.20 software and Biblioshiny. The results showed that Indonesia is the dominant contributor with 323 publications (65.4%), followed by Malaysia, with publication output increasing significantly since 2020, correlating with the global COVID-19 pandemic. The findings identified seven main thematic clusters encompassing the urban-rural digital divide, convergence of pedagogical and technological frameworks, and the critical roles of leadership, self-efficacy, and educational resilience. Additionally, a "Hybrid Resilience" paradigm emerged, where Pesantren and Madrasah integrate moderate theology (Wasathiyah), revitalization of local wisdom-based social capital, and adoption of global values such as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The research results indicate that conflict management is crucial in Islamic educational institutions, where conflict is unavoidable and conflict control is essential to achieve institutional goals. The study also reveals growing integration of Artificial Intelligence tools, including ChatGPT and digital Al-Quran applications, which enhance student learning motivation and critical thinking. The implications of this research provide strategic guidance for policymakers, educators, and researchers in formulating an inclusive and effective digital future for Islamic education globally.

Abstract

Social change, digital transformation, and evolving labour market demands require Islamic education to cultivate religious, adaptive, critical, and socially engaged students. This study explores how the values of Risalah Islam Berkemajuan are internalised in vocational education at SMK Muhammadiyah Tanjung Selor. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews and document analysis. Hybrid thematic analysis combined inductive interpretation of participants’ experiences with deductive analysis based on the framework of Risalah Islam Berkemajuan. The findings reveal five patterns: adaptive religious learning rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah; tauhid as the foundation of character formation; learning innovation, critical thinking, and a culture of knowledge; integration of religion and knowledge through social and environmental responsibility; and student participation in socio-religious life. These values are internalised through faith, pedagogical innovation, knowledge development, and social practice.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the historical dynamics of Islamic civilization in the formation of political institutions, the construction of power, and the development of the broader Islamic world. It is motivated by the academic need to understand Islamic politics not merely as a normative system or as a debate over state forms, but as a historical process that continuously changed in response to the social, cultural, economic, and geopolitical contexts of Muslim societies. This research employs a qualitative approach through library research. The data were obtained from primary and secondary sources related to Islamic civilization, Islamic political thought, the caliphate, imamate, sultanate, political legitimacy, bureaucracy, and the role of political institutions in advancing Islamic knowledge and culture. The data were analyzed using a historical-conceptual approach involving data condensation, thematic categorization, interpretation, and conceptual synthesis. The findings show that Islamic political institutions developed through four major patterns: normative-prophetic, institutional-administrative, dynastic-territorial, and civilizational-pluralistic. These patterns demonstrate that power in Islamic history was not based solely on religious legitimacy, but also on the ability to build political stability, administrative structures, legal systems, economic networks, military organization, and socio-intellectual relations. The study concludes that Islamic civilization was formed through a dialectical relationship between values, institutions, power, and civilizational production. Its main contribution lies in proposing a historical-institutional framework for understanding Islamic political history in a more critical, integrative, and contextual way.
