Abstract

Poverty remains an ongoing challenge in Indonesia despite relatively stable economic growth. This condition demonstrates the limitations of a technocratic approach to development, which often neglects ethical and social dimensions. This study aims to explore Ibn Khaldun's economic thinking as a basis for poverty alleviation within the framework of Islamic moderation (wasatiyyah). This study uses a qualitative approach based on literature review with thematic analysis of al-Muqaddimah and relevant contemporary literature in the field of Islamic economics. The results show that Ibn Khaldun's eight principles of development, particularly those related to the role of the state, institutions, human resource development, wealth distribution, and justice, reflect a moderate development model that integrates moral, spiritual, and economic dimensions. This model rejects extreme approaches such as minimalist or authoritarian states, and views wealth as a means of distributing social welfare, not as a tool for accumulating power. This study concludes that Ibn Khaldun's framework of thought provides a coherent epistemic foundation for inclusive and equitable development, and remains relevant to the contemporary Indonesian context. The scientific contribution of this research lies in its synthesis of classical Islamic development theory and the principles of Islamic moderation, thereby offering an alternative to conventional economic paradigms that tend to marginalize moral and social dimensions.

Abstract

This study examines Amina Wadud's feminist hermeneutics method in reading the Qur'an, focusing on her efforts to interpret the text with an awareness of the social context and experiences of women as subjects of interpretation. The research gap that this study aims to fill is the lack of studies in Indonesia that systematically analyze the methodological framework and ethical foundations of tawhid in Wadud's feminist hermeneutics, as most previous studies have been descriptive in nature and have not critically linked the methodological, ethical, and implicative dimensions of feminist readings of the Quran. This article positions itself to go beyond a general presentation of Wadud's thinking by offering a conceptual analysis that highlights how Wadud "stands at the edge of the text," integrates the principle of tawhid as the foundation of gender justice, and unravels the challenges and resistance faced by this approach in contemporary interpretive discourse. The research approach uses qualitative methods through library research with conceptual analysis of relevant literature. The results show that Wadud reconstructs inclusive and gender-just interpretation through dialogue between text and context, affirming tawhid as the basis for rejecting discrimination, while criticizing dominant patriarchal interpretations. In conclusion, these results are in line with the research objective of emphasizing the importance of tawhid-based feminist hermeneutics as an ethical-methodological foundation for gender-just interpretation of the Quran and opening up space for more empirical follow-up research.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of guru ngaji (Qur’an teachers) in shaping Islamic character among children in Padang Lawas Regency. Qur’an teachers hold a strategic position in society, serving not only as instructors of the Qur’an but also as moral guides and role models in daily life. This research employed a qualitative approach with a library research design, complemented by interviews and field observations. Data were gathered from scholarly articles, online media, and direct information from Qur’an teachers and local communities. The findings reveal that Qur’an teachers play a vital role in instilling Islamic character values such as religiosity, discipline, responsibility, respectfulness, and solidarity. These values are cultivated through consistent Qur’an learning activities, exemplary behavior of teachers, and affectionate social interaction. The success of character formation is supported by several factors, including strong community support, the religious environment of Padang Lawas, and the sincerity and motivation of Qur’an teachers. However, the study also identifies challenges such as limited financial support, lack of pedagogical training, the influence of digital media on children’s interests, and inadequate learning facilities. The study concludes that Qur’an teachers significantly contribute to nurturing a generation that is faithful, morally upright, and socially responsible. Therefore, continuous support from local government and Islamic educational institutions is essential to strengthen and sustain the role of Qur’an teachers in character education.

Abstract

This article discusses the Qur'an's views on disinformation and strategies that can be applied in dealing with this phenomenon in the post-truth era. In a context where information spreads quickly and often without verification, disinformation poses a significant challenge that can undermine social integrity and public trust. Using a qualitative approach and text analysis, this study explores terms in the Qur'an related to lies and deception, as well as emphasizing the importance of honesty and verification of information. Through the analysis of the verses related to this discussion, it was found that the Qur'an provides relevant ethical guidelines for dealing with disinformation. This study shows that a critical and selective attitude in receiving and disseminating news is very important, with an emphasis on tabayyun (verification) to avoid regret due to misinformation. The implications of these findings confirm that the principles of the Qur'an can serve as a moral guide in dealing with disinformation in the digital age, as well as contribute to people's efforts to strengthen social harmony and integrity.
