Abstract

This study explores the influence of trade unions, employment policies, human resource (HR) innovation, and employee engagement on the protection of rights and welfare of employees after mass layoffs at PT Sritex. The research is motivated by the urgency to understand how organizational mechanisms and policy-related factors affect workers’ well-being in the aftermath of large-scale layoffs, especially in labor-intensive industries facing global competition. Using a quantitative approach, the study employed a structured questionnaire distributed to 100 former and current employees of PT Sritex. Data were analyzed through multiple linear regression using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) to measure the relationship and significance between the independent and dependent variables. The findings demonstrate that trade unions and employment policies have a significant positive impact on the protection of employee rights and welfare, ensuring that employees retain basic security even after layoffs. HR innovation also contributes by providing adaptive strategies and sustainable practices for workforce restructuring. Furthermore, employee engagement is found to play a crucial mediating role in strengthening organizational commitment, improving psychological resilience, and maintaining trust among employees during difficult transitions. Collectively, these four variables exhibit strong predictive power in determining welfare outcomes, emphasizing the importance of an integrated approach. This study highlights that collaboration between trade unions, policymakers, and corporate leaders is essential in strengthening employee protections. A balanced framework combining responsive policies, innovative HR practices, and active worker participation provides both immediate and long-term benefits. The practical implications of this research encourage companies and government institutions to design restructuring strategies that not only ensure operational sustainability but also safeguard employee rights, dignity, and welfare in times of uncertainty.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of Value Added Tax (VAT) on the purchasing power of Indonesian consumers through a quantitative research approach. Utilizing secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency for the period 2018–2023, the analysis incorporates key economic indicators such as the inflation rate, consumer price index, and household consumption levels. The research sample comprises 1,250 respondents from five major urban centers in Indonesia, providing a diverse representation of consumer behavior across regions. The analytical method employed is multiple linear regression, with the VAT rate as the independent variable and purchasing power as the dependent variable, measured using the consumer purchasing power index. The results reveal a statistically significant negative correlation (r = -0.732, p < 0.05) between VAT increases and consumer purchasing power. Specifically, the study finds that a 1% rise in the VAT rate corresponds to a 2.4% decline in purchasing power, indicating a substantial sensitivity of household consumption to fiscal policy adjustments. These findings underscore the critical role of VAT policy in shaping consumer economic behavior and highlight the potential adverse effects of indiscriminate tax increases on household welfare. The study recommends that fiscal authorities adopt a more selective and targeted approach in determining VAT rates, particularly during periods of economic volatility or inflationary pressure. Such measures are essential to preserve consumer confidence, maintain economic stability, and support equitable growth. By providing empirical evidence on the relationship between taxation and consumer welfare, this research contributes to the broader discourse on fiscal policy effectiveness in emerging economies. It offers actionable insights for policymakers seeking to balance revenue generation with social and economic resilience in the face of evolving macroeconomic challenges.

Abstract

Character education in early childhood plays a central role in shaping moral integrity, civic responsibility, and a sense of national identity. In recent years, however, educators and policymakers have expressed growing concern regarding the increasing prevalence of behavioral issues among young children, such as bullying, disrespect, and lack of empathy. These challenges highlight the importance of consistent and systematic efforts in building strong character foundations during the early years of schooling. This study explores the implementation of character education at TK Mujahidin in Semarang Regency, with particular emphasis on two pedagogical approaches: habituation and role modeling. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method through interviews, observations, and documentation involving teachers, administrators, and parents. Findings indicate that core values—such as honesty, discipline, empathy, and responsibility—are effectively internalized when embedded into daily routines, including flag ceremonies, prayer practices, and classroom discipline. Teachers play an essential role not only as facilitators of instruction but also as role models, reinforcing values through consistent actions, language, and spontaneous interventions in children’s social interactions. Furthermore, character education is strengthened by integrating thematic and cultural content into lessons, as well as by fostering collaboration between schools, parents, and community stakeholders. This localized model demonstrates that character formation in early childhood is most effective when grounded in socially responsive and culturally relevant practices. The study contributes a replicable framework for educators and institutions seeking to strengthen character education in similar contexts. It also emphasizes that character-building is not a separate program but must be embedded holistically into the learning environment, teacher conduct, and home-school collaboration. By uniting habituation, modeling, and cultural integration, early education can nurture children who are disciplined, responsible, and empathetic, preparing them to become ethically grounded citizens

Abstract

This study investigates the phenomenon of online bullying through strategies of rudeness on Instagram, with a particular focus on Indonesia’s digital generation. In the evolving landscape of social media, cyberbullying increasingly manifests through indirect and masked forms of verbal aggression—such as sarcasm, mockery, and humorous insults—that appear socially acceptable but carry harmful intent. The research aims to (1) identify the forms and linguistic strategies of impoliteness employed in digital bullying, and (2) examine the extent to which Indonesian law protects victims of such behavior. Employing a normative juridical method combined with pragmatic linguistic analysis, the study draws upon Jonathan Culpeper’s theory of impoliteness to analyze the communicative tactics used in Instagram interactions. The findings reveal that body shaming, public humiliation, and hate speech are prevalent forms of bullying on the platform, exacerbated by Instagram’s visual and interactive features that facilitate rapid dissemination and public exposure. Although Indonesian legal instruments—such as the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE Law) and the Criminal Code—provide a formal basis for penalizing online bullying, several challenges persist. These include legal ambiguity in defining verbal violence, difficulties in digital evidence collection, and limited public awareness regarding victims’ rights and reporting mechanisms. The study concludes that addressing online bullying requires a multidisciplinary approach that integrates legal enforcement, digital literacy education, and ethical communication practices. Strengthening institutional capacity, promoting awareness campaigns, and refining regulatory frameworks are essential steps toward mitigating the normalization of verbal violence in digital environments. This research contributes to the broader discourse on digital civility and legal reform, offering strategic insights for policymakers, educators, and platform regulators committed to fostering safer online spaces for Indonesia’s youth.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of Quantum Machine Learning (QML), emerging from the convergence of quantum computing and artificial intelligence, presents transformative opportunities for data-driven sustainable entrepreneurship. This study investigates the influence of QML on intrinsic motivation and how such motivation shapes Quantum-Driven Sustainable Entrepreneurial Readiness (QDSER) among digital-native entrepreneurs. Grounded in Self-Determination Theory (SDT), the research further examines the role of technology characteristics—specifically perceived usefulness and perceived novelty—as both direct and moderating factors within the proposed conceptual framework. Empirical data were collected through purposive sampling of undergraduate business students actively engaged in entrepreneurial practice. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 3.0. The findings reveal that QML significantly enhances intrinsic motivation and positively contributes to QDSER. Intrinsic motivation exerts a strong influence on QDSER, while technology characteristics directly affect QDSER but do not significantly impact intrinsic motivation. This study introduces the novel construct of QDSER, representing entrepreneurial readiness shaped by quantum technological engagement and sustainability orientation. The integration of psychological and technological dimensions offers a fresh perspective on entrepreneurial preparedness in the quantum era. The findings contribute to the emerging literature on digital entrepreneurship by highlighting the motivational and technological pathways through which QML fosters sustainable entrepreneurial behavior. Practical implications include the need for entrepreneurship education to incorporate quantum-aware, motivation-driven approaches that align with the evolving technological landscape. This research opens avenues for further exploration into how QML can cultivate entrepreneurial mindsets and readiness among the digital generation, particularly in addressing global sustainability challenges through innovative, quantum-enabled solutions.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the existing legal foundation is deeply rooted in the principle of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, meaning “Unity in Diversity.” This philosophy emphasizes tolerance and harmony among diverse ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds. Within this principle, Pancasila stands as the fundamental legal and philosophical charter of the Indonesian state. Pancasila consists of five interrelated principles: the value of religiosity in the first principle, humanitarianism in the second, unity in the third, democracy in the fourth, and social justice in the fifth. These principles not only provide a legal framework but also act as a moral compass for the development of national character. The implementation of Pancasila values is crucial in shaping a society that respects human dignity, justice, and equality. The first principle emphasizes belief in God, encouraging moral responsibility and ethical behavior in personal and public life. The second principle underlines humanitarianism, which promotes empathy and respect for human rights. The third principle stresses national unity as a foundation for overcoming divisions and fostering solidarity. The fourth principle highlights democracy, ensuring that decision-making processes respect participation, consensus, and justice. Finally, the fifth principle, social justice, calls for equality and fairness in all aspects of society. In the era of globalization, where various ideologies and cultural influences intersect, the values of Pancasila remain relevant as a guiding philosophy for education, governance, and national development. It is not merely a static doctrine but a dynamic framework that adapts to societal changes while maintaining Indonesia’s identity. Thought, therefore, can be seen as an effort to deeply reflect on and internalize the values of Pancasila, then translate them into concepts, practices, and theories applicable to contemporary challenges. Strengthening the understanding and practice of Pancasila is vital for ensuring that Indonesia’s national character continues to reflect unity, diversity, and humanity in facing global complexities.

Abstract

Food vendors in public areas play an important role in providing quick meals for the community. Poor personal hygiene among food vendors can be a source of cross-contamination and increase the risk of foodborne illnesses such as diarrhea, typhoid, and food poisoning. Therefore, it is essential to evaluate the personal hygiene practices of food vendors in public areas to identify potential risks to public health. This study aims to assess the level of personal hygiene among food vendors in public areas and to identify the influencing factors. A descriptive quantitative design with an observational approach was used. The sample consisted of 49 food vendors operating in various public areas in Ungaran city, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through direct observation using a WHO-standard checklist and brief structured interviews. The results showed that most vendors met basic personal hygiene standards, such as having no open wounds (91.8%) and wearing clean clothes (81.6%). However, only 61.2% of vendors washed their hands with soap before handling food, and only 44.9% used gloves. Furthermore, 36.7% still reused disposable utensils, and only 53.1% stored eating utensils in closed containers. The availability of sanitation facilities and knowledge of hygiene were significant factors influencing hygienic behavior. The level of personal hygiene among food vendors in public areas varied and did not fully meet health standards. Educational efforts, regular supervision, and the provision of supporting facilities are urgently needed to improve hygiene quality and food safety in public spaces.
