Abstract

Abstract: This research is motivated by the important role of facilities and infrastructure in supporting the quality of early-age football coaching. SSB PASPEL Bathin II Pelayang, as one of the football schools in a rural area, faces various limitations in facilities, ranging from the limited number of training equipment, the condition of the field which is not yet fully adequate, to the absence of changing rooms, toilets, and lighting. This study aims to determine the actual condition of facilities and infrastructure, the level of their utilization in the coaching process, and the extent of their role in improving the quality of football coaching at SSB PASPEL Bathin II Pelayang. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants in this study consisted of one coach and four students of SSB PASPEL Bathin II Pelayang. Data were analyzed using an interactive model through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that: (1) the condition of facilities and infrastructure at SSB PASPEL Bathin II Pelayang is still very limited. The field is of standard size, but its maintenance is not optimal; training facilities such as balls, cones, and bibs are limited in number; and supporting infrastructure such as changing rooms, toilets, and lighting is not available; (2) the utilization of facilities and infrastructure is carried out optimally, but the limited quantity reduces the effectiveness of training because students must take turns using the equipment; (3) facilities and infrastructure play a significant role in supporting the quality of coaching, but the existing limitations reduce comfort, safety, and students’ motivation

Abstract

The performance improvement of youth soccer players is greatly affected by the physical training patterns implemented, especially in sprint speed and agility. At SSB Sangar Muda, the training program is still general and not yet structured to specifically develop sprint and agility skills. This study aims to explore the role of physical training in enhancing players’ sprint and agility performance and to examine factors influencing training effectiveness. Using a qualitative case study method, data were collected from one coach and five players through in-depth interviews. The focus was on players’ experiences and perceptions of training, as well as the coach’s strategies in planning programs. Data were analyzed descriptively to provide systematic findings. The results show that the physical training applied remains general, with sprint training limited, leading to less optimal acceleration and maximum speed. Agility training has supported balance and movement to avoid opponents, but has not sufficiently improved players’ reflexes in real match conditions. These findings indicate the importance of designing more specific, structured, and varied training programs to better develop sprint and agility performance among youth soccer players at SSB Sangar Muda.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the Ladder Drill training method on improving the agility of SSB Bina Muda Somel players. Agility is one of the essential physical components in football due to the dynamic and fast-paced nature of the game, which requires players to change direction quickly without losing balance. Movements that involve frequent changes of direction, such as shuttle running, demand alternating contractions in specific muscle groups. This study employed an experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The subjects consisted of 10 players from SSB Bina Muda Somel. The research instrument used was a 40-meter shuttle run test conducted twice before (pretest) and after (posttest) the training program. The Ladder Drill training was implemented over 10 sessions with systematically structured variations. Data were analyzed using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test for normality and the paired sample t-test for hypothesis testing, assisted by the SPSS program. The results showed a significant improvement in players’ agility after undergoing the Ladder Drill training. The average pretest score was 6.60, and the posttest average increased to 7.90. The t-value of -8.510 with a significance of 0.000 < 0.05 indicates that Ladder Drill training has a significant positive effect on enhancing the agility of SSB Bina Muda Somel players.
